Thank you for this unique mod! Adds a good deal to the game. I was a bit disappointed that Sophia is bald, but it's still good. The first time I played it through, I was half-expecting (and very much hoping) that she would join me at camp as a permanent companion, but then (SPOILER ALERT!)... I was so sad when she died... it was actually a very emotional scene, with her professing her feelings and bidding me farewell and that we would be reunited with the maker someday. I don't suppose you could rewrite the mod so that she lives and joins my party for the rest of the game... no, I guess not. Well... it's a wonderful mod...  a bit sad, but fun to play. Thanks!

Well though emotions in Dragon Age are tied to your connection to the fade. (hence why Jowan was so scared of being made tranquil in the first place and why it is said that the tranquils are empty husks, breathing but not truly living) I do like your work as some of it functions better than the vanilla game did. In real life love is just Oxytocin and Vassopressin which yeah does does not fit in with Dragon Age lore ( I will say I never liked biowares idea of making it so that losing your magic makes you lose emotions when emotions are nothing magic but just chemicals in your body.)

I wish they gave us an easier toolset like the one fallout new vegas uses.

is it because of oxytocin and other chemicals, or are those chemicals a byproduct of the emotion? like you wouldn't release oxytocin naturally in the body for no reason I'm assuming. it's kinda like how if someone does something dirty and makes you mad. are you mad because of the chemicals released the adrenaline the cortisol etc, or are you mad because some asshole did some asshole thing and the chemicals are the byproduct?

the fade is your connection to the spirit world, the abstract world. it makes perfect sense that your link to the fade is your link to emotions. tranquil themselves are pretty confusing though I gotta admit. people with no emotions irl seem to have psychopathic tendencies since they can't feel things. meanwhile the tranquil seem pretty uniform and no examples of deviant or antisocial behavior. maybe it's because they aren't covert like psychopaths tend to be and who they are is out in the open.

The reason why tranquil don't have psychopathic tendencies, i suspect, is because they don't have real desires, survival / self defense instincts or anything really. The fade is the connection with the human spirit, and if there's one thing humans are good at is having strong emotions. Its part of what makes a human... well, human.

If they just didn't feel guilty, yeah, they would have psychopathic tendencies. After all if a chair kicks or humiliates you, or just is really loud around you... why you don't just... destroy that chair or toss it away? People aren't chairs, but that's the point here. Having psychopathic tendencies is like thinking humans as not humans, because you can't feel any connection to them or sometimes even think they have any value. And thus you can break them, like you would break an object.

But tranquils... they don't feel ANYTHING. I think a tranquil that isn't feed would just... starve. Even if they had acess to food they would not feel the need to eat unless ordered. If a tranquil is beaten they would just... be beaten. No pain. No rage. No humiliation. No sadness for themselves or the attackers. Nothing. The process don't just kill emotions, it kills "the soul", everything that makes you human - hence why Jowan was so scared of being made tranquil in the first place and why it is said that the tranquils are breathing, but not truly living.

That is why the tranquils don't just murder the chantry when they have the chance i suspect. Because, lets be realistic, you totally would. And people can kill even without emotions. Hell, a lot of people kill BECAUSE they don't have emotions. You can have revenge without rage, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes just because you are petty. Just because someone took something from you. I think a mage without emotions would be terrifying, they would burn entire cities to kill a single guy because they would just not care. Shame tranquils can't do magic BECAUSE they have no emotions...

They thing is... tranquils don't feel anything.
      And thus they cannot love.

That is why this mod creeps me out, in fact.
They are like an empty husk. Dolls.
      Just... please don't.

But hey, it's a nice and well made mod.
If you ignore the lore, it's just perfect.
The whole concept is so creative.
And i think that since the lore isn't 100% clear it's fair change it a bit.
      The changes are even reasonable.

Like Philogosten said, I do like your work as some of it functions better than the vanilla game did.
      In some aspects.
Like i said, you have to ignore the lore to enjoy the mod, or just please don't.

But i'm still questioning: If you can still love while tranquil... why not wanting revenge? I would love a mod with an avengeful tranquil enemy that wants to destroy the chantry. A person like that would have no problem in using darkspawn or even turning into one. He ~~ (or she, maybe even Sophia!!) ~~ may be even MORE dangerous than a archdemon. And it would make such great story, sad even, if the person have good reasons for wanting revenge. Like, for example taking her ability to love you, the only light in a dark and desolate world...
And all the potential conflict with you, the player! The balance between vegeance and becoming a monster, the doubth about your love even being true, the problem with morality in a worldview were human life (or any life) has no value...

If you ever make a mod like that, message me.

=> PS: That's also why systems like slavery and racism and sometimes even just regular nobility "they are peasants" or the army's "they are the enemy" mentality - lead to extreme violence more often than not, since they de-humanize people. And if the other guy isn't a person, why should you care? Chairs don't have rights, they don't deserve rights. Those systems literally make you have psychopathic tendencies.

Nice mod that fits in nicely with the BW moral dilemma thing. But I thought I'd let you know it seems to conflict with the Angelic Vendetta mod http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/4109/? as both involve things happening on the way out of Lothering. Played a mage and part of the Angelic Vendetta mod failed to trigger and odd "You cannot travel at this time" messages appeared on the world map after seeing Sophia the second time. I suppose it'd work normally with a non-mage origin as Sophia wouldn't feature but other than that it looks like they don't play nice together.

Thanks, ShinyWit, for letting me know (and also anyone else who hits this problem and reads these comments, hopefully). As I pointed out in the description, that trigger on the way out of Lothering is an obvious modding point; presumably earlsmith852 thought so too ... four years later. I'll update the compatibility section.

Aargh! Deepest apologies to DevLog - I've only just found your uploaded image, and approved it. I've been assuming that anything I need to do will be flagged in the Notifications icon at the top of the page ... wrongly. Mea culpa

Hi poeticallyblind, and thank you for your kind words. I am afraid my Toolset has long ago eaten the masters for this mod, and the up-to-date backups are lost (a long story). However, given a little fiddling you may be able to sort this tattoo out yourself.

MsBarrows' files are expanded into the override directory, according to her instructions. If you go there and make a few adjustments, it might work:

    - Rename bhm200cr_f_e_tranquil.utc to bhm200cr_f_e_tranquil.utc.sav
    - Rename ef_bhm200_f_e_tranquil.mor to ef_bhm200_f_e_tranquil.mor.sav
    - Copy hf_bhm200_f_h_tranquil.mor to hf_bhm200_f_e_tranquil.mor (note the mismatch between the hf_ and the _f_e_)

I've given this a quick go myself and it looks like it works. If it does all go horribly wrong, you just need to reverse the changes above to go back to the way things were.

Hi! I've just started this mod - I utterly adore Tranquil, so much, so the existence of this mod makes me extremely happy - and I was wondering if you would consider making it compatible with the Tranquil tattoo mod? Located here: http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/3643/? . Currently, it's not, as the creator turned Sophia into an elf (which I discovered upon implementing it), but it has the files for the tattoos, which could possibly be applied to Sophia's head morph? (I don't know anything about modding, so I could be wrong?)

Anyway, it's a really good concept, and the voice acting is the best I've run into in my exploration of mods - perfect for a Tranquil. Thanks so much for making this, and I can't wait to continue to explore it!

EDIT: Oh, one thing, though I don't know if it's possible to fix - if you ask Sophia to join you on your bed, she sits /in/ the bed, her body is physically in it, and I don't know if it's possible to fix that? Second, I'm playing as a female Surana, so the size difference is 'shown' as they lay down together afterwards, and it's thus kind of weird-looking? I don't know if it's possible to fix those things, but that's literally it! This mod is so nice and CLEAN. It's great to see that.

In the Toolset it looks as though she was originally intended to be an elf, as she has an _f_e_ identifier, but the vanilla game made her a human anyway. I guess someone might have decided to 'fix' this in a mod, which is going to conflict with this mod. The easiest solution is to find the override for bhm200cr_f_e_tranquil and to remove it, which should put her back to the vanilla appearance. Otherwise it gets trickier as you would have to put an override in for bp_sophia and one for bp_sophia_circle, both of which used the correct conversations.

Thanks for the Great Mod! Had a question though - is there a way to convert the model of Sophia to Elf? Some modification (don't remember, which one) made her Elf in the Mage Origin and suddenly she is Human in Lothering. Switching Face morphs didn't help much since Humans are taller, therefore Sophia turms into Hunchback Elf "Giant", and I had to edit morf from Elf to Human so at least the look alike. But still - no ears. And that bothers.....

Lol - it wasn't a complaint as such, more that these mods included a whole pile of new quests, which I obviously HAVE to try out, no?

LOL sorry about that...not sure what happened. You can force load with all those mods and most of the time there is no major issue when you force load.
