Author thank you for such a wonderful utility, I was able to finally figure it out and she was like a hidden gem and turned out to be amazing.
I have a question: is it possible to export meshes to .fbx in a larger size?

Works perfectly, thank you so much!

For anyone struggling, make sure you open a regular command console and enter 'cd "[downloaded filepath]"' so it knows where the exe is! You can type cd, then drag and drop the folder for an automatic file path. You do not work through a launched daocmd or fbxcmd executable, they will not stay open.
    example:
    C:>cd "D:\Modding\fbxcmd-v1_3-10"
Now, the executing path will now be:
    D:\Modding\fbxcmd-v1_3-10>
This may look different from your path! That's alright, as long as it's the folder you have the downloaded exes in.
If any of the files/folders have spaces in them, like Dragon Age Ultimate Edition does, you need to put quotes around the entire filepath.

    Then, to unpack files:
Type in daocmd erf before the file you wish to unpack. I have the steam version but everything after the game folder should be the same. You can enter it manually or drag-and-drop the file in:
D:\Modding\fbxcmd-v1_3-10>daocmd erf "D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Dragon Age Ultimate Edition\packages\core\data\textures.erf"The unpacked files will be put in a folder by the same name as the original file. So unpacking "textures.erf" will result in a folder named "textures" in the same location.

To convert meshes, make sure the executing path is set through the fbxcmd folder, like above.
Find the file you want to convert in the unpacked meshes folder. For this example I'll use the nude body mesh for an elven female. You can drag and drop the file you wish to convert, then retype the file name with the extension you want to convert to. For this example, I'll use obj.
    D:\Modding\fbxcmd-v1_3-10>fbxcmd Convert "D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Dragon Age Ultimate Edition\packages\core\data\modelmeshdata\ef_arm_nud_0.msh" "ef_arm_nud_0.obj"
The converted mesh will be in the fbxcmd-v1_3-10 folder, or whatever your equivalent is.

In regards to the issues from Felsenkeks and Marckinhos, I do have Blender installed, but I convert my meshes to obj and not fbx, so I haven't encountered a similar issue.

If anything needs some clarification please let me know! I struggled trying to figure this out so I just hope this can make it a bit easier if someone else is struggling the same.

I followed an outside tutorial for this about a week ago before I went out of town so I unfortunately don't remember who helped me out. When I find who they were I'll leave their name/link

Hm... I keep getting this error:
    KFbxImporter::Initialize() failed.

I get it when trying to convert an mmh into obj etc.

Does anyone else have this too or know how to fix it?

      Same problem here :(
I'm trying to convert the file "hm_uhm_basa_0.mmh" to "hm_uhm_basa_0.fbx" using the CMD Command Prompt with admin rights.
I tried using fbxcmd Convert "<folder path>" "hm_uhm_basa_0.mmh" "hm_uhm_basa_0.fbx" but I get this error message:

      Call to KFbxImporter::Initialize() failed.
Error returned: Corrupted or invalid file.
hm_uhm_basa_0.mmh present but conversion did not succeed.

It seems the fbxcmd.exe app finds the .mmh file, but can't convert it because of this KFbxImporter which seems to be related to Blender, but I couldn't find an app or .exe file to work with that function.

Maybe if you install Blender it will come with this KFbxImporter or KFbxReader.exe file then you can use it? I don't know...

    Hey,
super late to the party, but: https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Export_DA:O_model_into_Blender (as part of creating the wiki under https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Dragon_Age_Modding, feel free to pitch in everyone).

Generating an fbx model creates an ASCII fbx file that needs to be converted to a binary fbx file first (see first wiki link). I don't expect you to update this and compile it in, but perhaps a mention in the description would be good?

Thank you so much for making this.

good tool , i just wanted to say , most folsk don't realize why game companies will build in 3ds amx , yet format ina method 3ds max can't do alone. they don't do this to make hard on modders , nor do they do it jsut to piss consumers off . the real reason they do this is prevent "production time" theft of their models . hell loota game companoes relesed the softwares to convert thier models after the game is out , so mostly this file converting nightmanre theyt do to thier models is jsut to protect thier model while teh gmae is stil being worked on.

The documentation for this isn't very straight forward for any users who haven't used a command line OS very much. If you simply open the .exe file then it is going to close -- this isn't an error... it is running and then closing because it wasn't given a command.

To properly use the erf unpacker, for instance, you need to open up your DOS prompt in Windows by going to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. Access the folder with the ERF file in it by using the following command: "cd Crogram FilesDragon Agepackagescoretextureshigh" without quotations. Note the file path will depend on your install and OS. Also note the file path I mentioned takes you to the high resolution texture pack folder. From here, if you wanted to unpack, you would throw the daocmd.exe file into the folder, then in the command prompt type "daocmd erf "texturepack.erf"" without the outer quotes. Example commands on how to use the other utilities in these files are in the description.

    Ok.
I set up my xp box, redownloaded v1.3, same results.
I downloaded 7zip since it was compressed with 7zip, and unzipped on xp. Same results. not sure why this won't stay open, but being inoperable across 3 different platforms and wildly different build specs can't be coincidence.

I just dumped this over to my laptop running vista x86, and it does the same thing. anyone find a workaround?
I also tried version 1.2, with the same results.

Was this made on an XP machine? I might have to blow the dust off my secondary.
