You're welcome, what performance uplifts did you get? Curious to see how it performed on differing hardware

I have notebook RTX3050. I was able to get 50-60 fps with DLSS ultra performance but since all the lights in the game are made with ray tracing, I was not able to see anything in some places. It was straight up dark. I have something called optiscaler that I downloaded from steam forums. It enables ray tracing. When I used the optiscaler my fps dropped to 10. Now I'm using both optiscaler and your config file. I get 50-60 fps without drops. And the lights are proper.

Hey @lifuzu, care to mention the configs in-game and resolution? Cause I have a RTX3050 4GB as well and can only get your FPS without using optiscaler, so it's all dark.

How did you make the game used proper RTGI and get good fps?

Well I have additional settings that I made in nvidia control panel. I don't know if it's what makes me play. It essentially enables your gpu to use your RAM for extra vram. You go to 3D settings->program settings->select doom. It should be called "CUDA - Sysmem Fallback Policy". I don't know if it's the right name since my settings are in Turkish. I have that enabled. Again I don't know if that's what matters. Other than that I have optiscaler and this cfg. I have everything low DLSS ultra performance but %100 setting. I play at 1080p.

You are literally my hero. Now, if only I can find a fix to the scuffed lighting and white eye glitch. This mod actually helped me hit 120 fps on the 2nd stage and im literally on a 3050 with 4GB VRAM.

So basically u wanna get to ur game files. On ur steam homepage all u gotta do is right click on Doom TDA then under "Manage" it should have a "Browse Local Files" option. Just click that and you should be in ur game folder. Then you just extract the newly downloaded config file into the "Base" folder and ur done! If u wanna activate it then just go in game then press "~" on ur keyboard to activate the console and type in "exec low.cfg" without the quotations ofc and after like a few seconds the frames improve so so much.

Thanks! Just to make sure I'm in the right folder, is this "base" folder containing a file called "build-manifest" and "candidate.cfg"? I just want to make sure i'm not throwing this into a random folder.

Would this usually work on Steam Deck? I added the file and the launch option to Steam but I'm getting an error message on boot.

EDIT: It was an Anti-Tamper error, which then locked me out of the game for the next 24 hours. So maybe don't try it on Steam Deck.

Should work fine, might have to run the console command separately as to not set off Denuvo anti-tamper.

Tried using the console command both in the main menu and in-game and the console says "couldn't exec low.cfg". No idea why it wouldn't work since the file is in the base Dark Ages folder and everything.

Bummer, but thanks for the tip of using the in-game console since at least that way I could test without getting locked out.

EDIT: lol nevermind, completely missed there's an actual folder called "base". I thought you meant the Dark Ages base directory in general, my bad.

If you go into the folder where your game pass games are stored, you will see the game folder. Open it, open the "Contents" folder inside of it, then open the "base" folder inside of that folder, then put the low.cfg file in there. Then you can run the console command.

I did run the command, and the feedback is "execing low.cfg", and that`s all. Nothing different happened in the game. Charactors`s eyes are still all white, dark places are still completely dark. T_T

Try running the exec command in the game's console window via the tilde key, and make sure it's in the folder named "base" and not in the game's root folder.

Yes, just find the game folder, usually in XboxGames somewhere, and toss it in the folder named "base". Then you run the console command as normal.

I have nothing but praise and thanks for this mod. Before, I was playing the game with 1360x780 resolution with lowest settings and lowest resolution scaling and only reaching 20-40 fps. Now I can play the game with almost 60fps, default resolutions scaling, with 1600x900 resolution. I have an RTX 3050, which I get isn't impressive, but I still really liked the core gameplay even with the not so crisp framerate. This will undoubtedly improve the consistency of my gameplay, and my appreciation for the game. Hopefully someone can also make a mod to shoot ray tracing on the foot. With that said, I have no hate towards the developers of the game, but it's sad to see that gaming is becoming less accessible to people with poorer quality systems. I'm considering replacing my gaming laptop within the next 2 years, until then, I'll be using this mod a ton. Thank you once again.

Update: I lowered the resolution even more, and achieved 80-100 fps on average. It's mad awesome.
