DOOM Eternal

In general, I wanted both of the Plasma Rifle's mod sounds to sound very similar to their vanilla counterparts while still sounding much beefier. Due to the Plasma Rifle's usefulness coming mostly from its weapon mods, it was important to get them to sound comfortable and iconic without making them too annoying or outlandish in comparison to the originals.

Heat Blast: The first of the two weapon mods that I worked on. When designing Heat Blast, I wanted to (obviously) make it sound punchier and more powerful, but I also wanted to make it sound a bit more like the Shield Soldier's Plasma Shotgun to sort of unify the two. I used beefed up renditions of the vanilla sounds for Heat Blast as well as beefier Shield Soldier gun sounds. For good measure, I included the primary fire sound as well as the classic Plasma Rifle's sound to tie the mod better to its parent weapon.

Later on, I added sounds from Quake 4's Railgun, Blaster, and Lightning Gun. However, during testing, I noticed that they were too shrill, so I had to beef them up later on. Unfortunately, I had already uploaded the video by this point, so I had to clarify this in the comments and description. Nonetheless, both the updated version and the original version (which I rebranded as an alternate version) are available for use.

Microwave Beam: From the start, I knew what I wanted with the Microwave Beam, that being to bring back the classic Quake Lightning Gun that it seems to take at least some inspiration from. I did not want to outright replace it with the Lightning Gun's sounds, however, so I opted to enhance the original with sounds from its forerunners. I used sounds from each rendition of the Lightning Gun (minus the Doom 2016 rendition, which I tried to emulate anyway) as well as the Quake Railgun and Dark Matter Cannon. I also put emphasis on the windup and winddown sounds, since the Microwave Beam is often used in weapon combos and as such won't often be heard in its entirety unless used against something like a Spirit.

Initially I wanted to upload this mod on its own page, but I decided against it, seeing as I already uploaded the original Beefier Plasma Rifle here.
