Thanks, couldn't understand what they were saying in-game.

Smells worse over here than a dozen rotten eggs dropped in a vat of vinegar.

Can you do the mod which makes mercenary party members more talkative in combat? So they could say all those "I'm ready", "Prepare yourself", "Better luck next time"", etc. phrases? Seems they supposed to do so, but instead silent as fish, except of sounds like "Ah", "Oh" when enemy hits them(at least in my version of the game; hope there isn't some bug here...)

Also don't you think all those combat phrases add some personality to our boys? There are not too much situations where they *talk* in this game.

First things first, I don't really care for the mod's premise myself. I made it for others who like the premise.

As for voicing the mercenaries and the like....well several complications with that. First, as far as I know, they don't have any voice lines recorded for these barks I removed. And that leads us into out next and biggest part, voice acting. If I'm correct about mercenaries and the like not having recorded lines for this situation, then that'd mean I'd have to get others to do it for me. I don't know anyone who'd want to VA this stuff (and sounds close enough to the original VAs) for starters. And the big whammy: getting custom VAing done in the first place. You see, from what I hear, adding in new voice acting is a *massive* pain the ass. The inner workings of Larian's VAing system are not accessible to us (there's nothing in the editor to allow VAing, unlike say Bethedsa's). I hear there's ways around this, but they're error prone and wonky. And again, I don't have VAs. Suffice to say, it seems like too much of a pain in the ass to add new lines/add on lines. Sorry. :(

      Thanks for reply.

"they don't have any voice lines recorded for these barks I removed"
They 100% sure have voice lines. Checked again myself a minute ago.

Mirror -> Appearance -> Voice: Scholar/Trickster/Warrior/Adventurer. "Prepare yourself", "I'm ready", "I'll yield to none", "Meet your maker", "Nice try", "Better luck next time" - they have at least those lines. Of course I don't know if it is possible at all to make mercenaries say those lines in combat, like origin characters.

      "in the editor"
Sorry for probably stupid question, but where is the editor? Is it included only in late versions of the game or what?

Just because they've voices in the mirror/character creation doesn't mean they'd have voices associated with the dialogue file. Voice files have to be "linked" to the proper dialogue and, again, the inner workings of this system are a huge mystery to us. And basically inaccessible. So sorry.

As for where you can find the editor, it's a separate download from the game. If you've the GOG version, it should be somewhere on the game's downloader page. As for Steam, I don't know. Maybe you can ask here: https://discord.gg/cFDRmKg . This is the official Larian Discord and they've plenty of modding help there. Hope this helps you. :)

Seems to me this is developers' oversight or just another game bug. What was the bloody point to record all those lines, if mercenaries don't say it.... Anyway, thanks for your efforts, amigo!
