Hi everyone!

This is the only mod I have ever made, but I heard it might be popular so I thought I would upload it for others here to use at their leisure.

What does this mod do?


It changes the way some of the non-weapon spells in the game work. Without this mod, spells like Searing Daggers scale based off how many points you have in Intelligence, your level, and how many points you have in Pyrokinetic (amongst other things). This mod changes the stat from Intelligence to the stat of your primary equipped weapon. For example, if you want to play as a dual wielding rogue and Searing Daggers sounds fun in your repertoire, it would previously have been a useless spell damage-wise, but now the damage will scale of Finesse instead of Intelligence!

Likewise if you are a 2-Handed Warrior heading into the midst of melee, giving someone a flay with Fire Whip won't just tickle them; it will now deal damage based off how much Strength you have instead.

Do I need this mod to make the game playable?

No, absolutely not. The spells and skills are very well-balanced already. This mod just enhances some of the spells in the game for people who want to fine tune specific builds (like me!).

Who is this mod for?

Serial re-players of DOS2 who like to play around with a variety of different builds to see what works for them.

Does this mod affect every skill or spell in the game?


No. Many weapon-based skills (e.g., Whirlwind from the Warfare class) already change this way thanks to the way Larian designed them. Due to the modding process, the spells and skills in this mod had to be hand picked and edited manually. As a result, I tried to pick spells that would make "sense" for a melee character to wield. You won't find spells like Meteor Shower scaling with Strength or Finesse; there are some things better left to the mages.

Okay, so what spells are affected?
The following spells will now scale with Strength if you have a strength-based weapon equipped, or Finesse if you have a finesse-based weapon equipped. (They work as they do in the base game if you have any intelligence-based weapons equipped.)

I really want a spell changed that's not in this list, can you add it?

Maybe. It depends how popular the request is, how active I am, and if I have the time to get around to it! It also depends on whether it's actually possible to add it. If the spell doesn't say "Scales with Intelligence" when you hover over it in-game, then I won't be able to change it. Some spells just don't have the option to scale with weapon type stats. Probably for the best, really.

What version of DOS2 is this for?

Definitive Edition only. Not classic, sorry!

How do I install and use this mod?

Download it and place it in the mods folder for Divinity Original Sin 2.

For me this is USERNAME\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition\Mods but YMMV.

When you launch the game to the main menu, the mod should appear in your list of available mods to select. Simply tick the box to activate it! Good luck and have fun!
