Hey there, I was wondering if you could tell me how exactly you made this mod. I'm trying to edit voice files myself, especially for cutscenes, but for some reason cannot get the game to play my modified .pck file no matter what I do. If you could tell me what tools you used or how you did it, I'd much appreciate it! I've been trying with fusion tools, audacity to edit, and wwise itself, but my new wems always come out seemingly heavily compressed or much longer than the original wem, and the voice file just simply never plays. Any help would be much appreciated!
i'm not sure what you mean by your wems coming out compressed... feel like the common issue is the opposite where the wem is too big, size wise. which would be when you dont set the conversion settings to vorbis high in source settings in project settings in wwise. hella late reply, i'm sorry, i dont regularly visit this website. if you can upload the file i can def take a look
Hey, thanks for the response, and sorry for my equally late one... meant to reply sooner but didn't get around to it, as I wanted to go through and redo the conversions. So I used fusion tools to export the wems as wav files, edited them in audacity and exported both as stereo and the 6 channel structure, then set the conversion settings in wwise to vorbis high and converted. I then used fusion tools to replace the first wems and then saved, and tried to open the .pck with fusion tools to see if the altered wems would play, which they, unfortunately, did not. Both converted wems came out extremely small, with the stereo one only being around 560 kb. I put the wavs, pcks, and wems into a google drive if you'd like to look at them: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1uzFcg-yKnxljpOACRa_m-l4Jgu8cIQ6t?usp=sharing The whole point of this was me trying to replace Nero's swearing with the "scum" from DMC3 because I thought it'd be funny. If you get around to looking at it, I'd much appreciate it, but if you can't there's no worries. Also no worries if it takes you a while to respond, everyone's got a lot more stuff to do than hang around on the internet all day. and btw, nice to see another JJK fan around :)
so i can tell you right now that amount of channels doesn't make a difference, could even be mono if you wanted. the real issues lies somewhere else. fusion tools and wwise are working as they should but when i load up your mod, that is, after i set the name and add the relevant bnk and pck files for the sound folder (as opposed to streaming\sound) and then adding the wems from the streaming pck to the sound pck (otherwise the game will play the original even though none of that audio is in the sound pck and bnk. don't ask me how that works because i dont know) the game crashes when the cutscene is played. i really don't see what could be causing this. i may be missing something so i would suggest asking the infernal warks discord server. they're the main force of dmc modding and almost all the resources we use for audio modding comes from there. here's an invite link https://discord.gg/fXHuArHYsu. i also laughed for like 30 seconds hearing the edited audio for the first time. the second shcum really got me
Hmm, that's really strange. Oh well. I'll see about getting back to it this summer, as it's really not that important to do right now and was just something to try. Thanks so much for all your help, and I'm glad that it made you laugh lol
Somehow it made me laugh more than it should. Perhaps due to the frequent game of slashers, my body began to allocate more space for muscle memory instead of logic and thought processes.
Anyway, great job!
do you plan to do the same with other bosses in the future as well? like, replacing Vergil's dialogues with Sam's
