Okay, so I've tested this briefly and one little bug I want to mention is that once or twice throughout the games cutscenes Dante's eyes will sometimes bug out for a couple of frames (I'm guessing for certain frames they didn't bother to correctly animate the eyes as they're normally covered by hair)
The only other thing is that sometimes the hair looks a little bit...off? in certain cutscenes. I wouldn't say it looks like a glitch but it's just that certain scripted hair movements look a bit weird in a couple of cutscenes where it was clearly intended for the longer hair. They're both really minor though and I doubt you'll notice the eyes one unless you're strictly looking for it, so don't let those issues deter you from using this.
I'll be at work for the next few hours, so if it doesn't work as intended (any problems are from the process of uploading to nexus as mine works) I'll have to fix it later.
There are higher quality textures used in streaming but not models as far as I can tell.
Even then, I don't think they're used in every cutscene as my mod didn't previously change anything in the streaming folder and yet Dante still had a cleaner look in cutscenes. In any case, I've replaced the HQ textures too now in the coat only version (hence the larger file size)
Well, there would be file conflicts as this mod also effects the face (reduces dirt, blood &scars etc.), but I think it should be possible for both mods to work with each other if you just enable the Shaved Dante mod *after* this one so that that mods files overwrite mine. That way the shaved face would take priority while still leaving the clean coat intact (assuming the shaved dante mod doesn't change the coat...can't see that it would?)
In any case I'll try out what I just said. Edit: Works fine as far as I can tell.
Thanks, your mod is a godsend for me since I'm playing on mouse + keyboard and no matter where I look, noone seems to know what the skin selection input is for M10 dante on keyboard.

For people who are playing on the post-Vergil update version, download from
this link: Prologue Dante replacer (Unofficial Update)
"pl0130_03_hair" - "pl0130_04_hair_fausthat"
And to play as Dante with short hair, you just need to press L1+L2+R1+R2 while selecting a costume.
