This is a skin I made from a photo of one of a specific EMD GP35 my grandfather worked on at the Santa Fe shops in Cleburne Texas.
Some history of this engine: It is a 2500 horsepower 4-axled freight locomotive, called a GP35 (GP for general purpose), the third unit of 159 Santa Fe ordered and received in 1964-1965. Previously this was an old round nose locomotive because when it had a round nose its number would have been 302. After a rebuild to make it look like this. They added a 1 in front of the 302. Since how it became 1302. The only thing that they reused on the retrofit was the trucks(wheels), everything else was new, including the engine. Usually locomotive numbers under 2000 were used for switch engines. At the shops they were often used to move disabled locomotives and cars under repairs. The #1302 was one of the many engines that were converted, but this one was put on display for a while outside the office building.
I have a large framed picture of it i got fromy my mother, who got it from her father, so its a special one for me. ---------------------------------------------------------- skin made by Jason Pierce - SpiritFire
