I can't seem to get the randomizer to actually modify the file. I copied the gameparamna.parambnd.dcx file from my gameparam folder and placed it in the Data folder inside randomizer's folder. I then ran the randomizer, chose my options, clicked randomize, and it close. The file that i placed in Data has the exact same modified date and time and the items in the world are not randomized. I cleared the cache from RPCS3 before my last attempt and it did nothing. The file is not read only and i even disabled AVG and ran the randomizer as an admin. What am i doing wrong?

Hey! Great mod, had tonnes of fun, done a few playthroughs now.

However I've been doing runs without key items randomised and the option doesn't seem to work. Multiple times now I've randomised items but had the key items box unticked, yet key items are still randomised every time. This makes a run I have in mind almost impossible, just wondering if you know of this problem and whether you plan on fixing it?

    Thank you :D

Awesome, thanks. Would love to know as soon as you've figured out the problem! Eager to get into some runs again.

It will generate a random variation based on your input as a number. If you enter this number again when generating the same random configuration will be generated again. This is useful if you wish to send your friend the seed so they can experience the run for themselves.

Hey! Thanks for fixing the key items issue! Key items don't randomise now so I assume the issue has fixed - However, I've discovered a new issue where some items don't re-randomise.

One of these items is one in the Nexus -- I've re-randomised four times and every time it's been a Small Flame Scale Demon Soul, and there are a few other items like this. Another instance is in the back alley by Ostrava in the corner, this item seems to be the same every time.

A small issue, but it would be great if you could investigate this as well! Thanks for your hard work and for fixing the previous issue.

Love the mod, but a question: I chose to randomize the shops, does this mean that their inventory is 100% random, or does it mean that the usual inventory is just mixed up among the different merchants? I only ask because I may have screwed myself out of a reliable means of getting arrows, as NO merchant (so far) has sold me any lol

      Hi,

It actually mixes the merchants inventory up with world drops and enemy drop tables. Theres normally a high chance that some enemy will drop arrows. Hopefully, you aren't in a situation where there are only world drop arrows :)

Hi @Keekoz! Great mod, I really appreciate your work - gave me the perfect excuse to start yet another Demon's Souls playthrough.

One small suggestion, for future idiots like me: the gameparamna.parambnd.dcx file was set to "Read only" by default, and it took me longer than I'd care to admit to figure out that that's why the Randomiser did nothing, just closed itself. So I suggest adding a small note about this in the mod description.

    Thanks again!

Hey, great work with this! I was wondering if there was a way to get/generate some kind of spoiler log to check where hard to find items got placed?

    Thanks =)

Nice work! Just started a first run and it seems to be working great. It's a whole new game when you have no idea what you'll find. I am just curious if I choose all of the rando options - is it possible that progression items can be behind Pure White or Pure Black world tendency events? I died a couple times and forgot about world tendency so hopefully I don't get stuck from this. Thanks! Awesome mod.

      Hi :)

For key progression items, I decided to prevent certain things from containing them. These are:

      - Enemy drops
      - Any location that already requires a key
      - World tendency location
      - Leechmonger fallen body item drops.

That said I can't be 100% certain that I haven't missed some ID's out, so the chance is there but it should be extremely unlikely that it will appear in any of those places.

Trying to use this with the emulator and doesn't seem to work.
I've randomized and copied the gameparamna.parambnd.dcx file into the param folder to replace the original which didn't work, then I also replaced the ones in the paramdef folder (that's in the Data file in the mod zip) in case that was also needed but just not mentioned, also tried to copy more of the similar gameparam dcx files in case it's a different one but didn't change anything as well. Tested with a new character and an existing one.
    Anything I'm doing wrong here?

Can you write what the game files path looks like to the param folder? You can omit any user-specific folders, I just need to see what your folder structure looks like.

      The path is: D:\Games\Demon's Souls\Demon's Souls - [BLUS30443]\PS3_GAME\USRDIR\param\gameparam
The param folder has drawparam and gameparam folders in it if that helps. I have downloaded the game files and emulator quite a while back, do you think that might have an effect on it?

If you have ran the game before it is possible RSPC3 has cached the game files. Please clear the games folder from this path:

      [Path to RSPC3]\RSPC3\dev_hdd1\caches

in there you will see a folder with Demons Souls ID on it, delete this whole folder, go back into RSPC3, right click on Demons Souls and select Remove > "Remove all caches" or something to that effect. Your emulator will need to build its caches for demons souls again which may take a few minutes, then try again.

Just did that, though the dev_hdd1 didn't have a Demon's Souls folder in it, found it in the caches folder outside the dev_hdd1 one and also cleared caches in the emulator itself and even removed the game from it just in case. Randomized the gameparam file and pasted it into the game's folder, it rebuilt the shaders etc. though nothing changed. Did the same thing but also clearing the custom config and then adding the files in the Data folder but still nothing.
Do you think save data might affect this? Should I wipe that?

Also can I ask, what area of the game are you testing if the items are randomised?

I checked the time/date of change each time and it adjusts to the current one (though only the gameparam one not the ones in the paramdef folder if that matters).
I check Baldwin's stock and also tried a few times to only randomize world treasure that's selected by default and go into Balotaria to pickup the first grass near the gates.
Could it be the RPCS3 version or game version I'm using?

I think something is causing the altered file not to write properly, do you have discord so I can push some changes for you to test? I only ask because my version works but it seems this problem is occurring for other people.

So I had a similar issue but what here is what I have done to fix this problem.

Install the latest version of RPCS3 to a different folder, install the ps3 firmware as normal on it. Now re-extract the demon souls folder on top of the original files to bring it back to the original version. Re-apply the randomised file. Now run the game, it will rebuild all caches from fresh.

If you wish you keep game file caching off. go to Configuration > System > Clear cache automatically, turn this off and set the maximum size to 0mb.
