Couldn't replicate crash on my end. What equipment are you wearing? Are you using any other mods? Is it still crashing after taking off your armor and weapons?
I'm using the basic thief set. I haven't removed it yet but I'll try. I'm also using the Demon's Souls Expanded Mod Collection mod. But I'm just starting out.
Ok, I see. I just tested it with thief set and still doesn't crash without other mods. Looks like the reason is using Expanded mod and my mod at the same time. Both mods are pushing game's texture memory to it's limits and it gets slightly overloaded in this spot. That's why one removed armor piece is enough to make it work again.
There are only two options in this situation - uninstalling one of the mods or removing parts of your equipment to get pass through crash spots. I bet your playthrough is focused on Expanded mod so removing my mod, and reinstalling Expanded mod should be better.
If the Tower Knight area is a common issue area (I just ran into that myself), would it be possible to figure out which files are tied to enemies and such in that area? That way we could theoretically just remove the upgraded tower knight texture or something else specifically tied to that area, likely lowering the cost enough to not crash but leaving everything else intact. A slightly more slimmed down more compatible friendly version if you will (although if given specific IDs I would gladly just remove that upgraded file from my folder myself)
How did you get the textures to display in game. Everytime I unpack a partsbnd and edit a texture, then repack it and replace it in the parts folder overwriting the original it still shows the original texture and not my edited one. I've tried deleting the cache and edit both .partsbnd and. . partsbnd.dcx still just shows the original one.
.dcx files are the ones used by the game so it should work. Try moving edited .dcx to separate folder and extract it again to check if textures are really replaced. Remember that files containing "_l.partsbnd" are used only for npcs and summons. Also, can I know which texture are you trying to replace and which extractor/rebuilder are you using?
Definitely looks good though something about it kept causing my game to crash when I entered the Tower Knight arena, removed it and everything worked again, and though I like it for stability's sake I am reluctantly playing without it currently. Appreciate all the work put into it though.
Looks like in these spots texture memory is overloaded somehow. Tower Knight has pretty high res textures + many enemies around, and there are a lot of NPCs in The Nexus. Maybe that's why. Fortunetly I didn't experience any crashes in different spots.
- HD Equipment Textures - The Nexus Reimagined - Enhanced Face Textures - My custom ReShade preset (not available anywhere, I'm modifying it everytime I launch the game and adjusting it individually for every screenshot) - Basically most of mods I made
I thought DeS couldn't have its textures upscaled for some reason (I tried it in 2020, can't remember much about it, loading screens were off proportion, etc). Would that only be relevant for map textures upscaling?
Nothing changed nowadays. You can't upscale menu/interface textures because scale is broken, and after upscaling more than few map textures, it won't load because memory limit. Seems like everything from "parts" folder has its own rules.
