Doesn't work on DS1 with mouse fix. Like, your reshade profile works BUT mouse aim/arrow and controller right stick aim doesn't work.
The d3d9.dll is the problem. With all of your files. The dll wasn't updated soooo that could be your next fix IF you decide to. Otherwise, it likely won't work for people in conjunction with DS1 mouse fix.
you could try the enb with sweetfx for ds1, this should be compatible https://www.nexusmods.com/left4dead2/mods/14 Just extract it to the ds1 folder, remove the reshade with swetfx files completely first. The enb with sweetfx is interchangeable and should work with ds1
Only when prompted to by the Nvidia Geforce dashboard.
My other games all seem to work fine, too.
What's annoying is using the Optimus Prime Fix .dll the way you described in the other post actually does fix the problem. The game loads with reshade and sweetfx and it looks great again - but for some reason that .dll file completely disables my controller. I only play Dead Space with an Xbox game pad and for some reason that .dll disables it.
So I have a choice of Dead Space with Xbox controller support but no reshade/sweetfx, or Dead Space with reshade/sweetfx with no controller support. For some reason I can't have both - even though it all worked fine less than a year ago. :(
EDIT:
Here is a short video of what happens. Forgive the weird resolution scaling, I forgot to set the resolution to Native in OBS Studio.
Ok try this, remove the optimus fix and rename the reshades d3d9.dll to dxgi.dll and see if that corrects the issue. If not then I would use an update to the reshade with sweetfx and perhaps the newly generated dx file would correct the issue. The update and link is mentioned on the description, use version 3.40 to update if required. On the bottom of the description, but first just try the rename.
Renaming d3d9.dll to dxgi.dll just disables the reshade/sweetfx for me - the exact same effect as just deleting d3d9.dll.
So you're telling me I have to install Reshade a different way other than just extracting the files into the game's install folder?
I just don't get why any of this is happening as it worked fine last year.
EDIT:
I just tried installing version 3.40 the way described in the description and it still crashes on start up. Only difference it makes is the text at the Reshade text at the top is the newer kind, but the game still crashes the same way. Again, removing the d3d9.dll file stops the game from crashing but removes the reshade/sweetfx effects.
I'm banging my head against a wall here. This is seriously driving me crazy.
I have a enb with sweetfx that may work, it has an updated settings that I was planning on adding to my other games, including the dead space series. https://www.nexusmods.com/Core/Libs/Common/Widgets/DownloadPopUp?id=61&game_id=354 extract it to the game folder the same as the reshade version, but first make sure to remove all the files from the reshade with sweetfx version as they are different versions. See if it works and test it with scroll lock ingame. It will also work with the optimus fix
I see my nvidia has a driver update but the recent ones before this were all problematic with games and it was the only stable one, it's version 512.15, not sure if it could be a new driver issue and don't really want to upgrade my driver to find out.
I actually have that ENB + SweetFX installed in my Half Life games - didn't realise you were the same guy who made those, ha. That ENB + SweetFX looks superb in Half Life 2 / Portal, but will it look right for Dead Space? And how different will it look compared to the Reshade? I ask because the Dead Space Reshade + SweetFX mod is so damn good I consider it the definitive way to play the series, I don't want to have to settle for something less as a workaround for whatever is causing this problem.
I'm at work right now so can't test it on Dead Space but I will let you know once I get home.
Also, if it's an issue with one of Nvidia's new drivers wouldn't this be happening to everyone whose kept their drivers up to date? I find it hard to believe I'm the first person to encounter this. That said, isn't it possible to simply roll back the drivers until I find one that works? Ideally it'd be great to be able to pick from a list of Nvidia drivers from the last year because I could just pick one from last summer when I KNOW this worked.
I actually have quite a few reshade and enb with sweetfx that I do, they both base settings off the sweetfx, although the reshade version doesn't have some of the settings provided additionally by the ENB, so I tend to like that one abit more. They are all interchange-able between games and it's just the sweetfx settings that are usually slightly different but can be matched if needed or altered, I can help with that if you need.
And actually I had alot of issues with games due to the nvidia drivers. I could barely run any games for awhile, all of them kept crashing. Really messed up my video postings for my YT channel. But it mainly affected unreal games. Mainly because Microsoft has forced a new driver type to match the ones now used by win11 and Nvidia has switched all the driver formats. They are no longer WHQL drivers but are DCH Drivers now. The new DCH drivers are very problematic thanks to Microsoft.
You can load in the DX9 final release to see if that helps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMNVLoxD8fQ&list=PL2vz_hw2cfTDYF_lG-AYyO1cuEWv4dJmV&index=3 That will add anything missing from the DX files, as Microsoft no longer includes it and you need to manually add it to any win10 machine.
Try it out and if you want to change anything I'll help you match the lines.
Tried the ENB w SweetFX - this crashes the game even worse than the Reshade does. With the Reshade the game would at least start loading before crashing, with this it doesn't even start. I hit "Play" on steam and the Play button turns to "Stop" and then after a few seconds it turns back to "Play" again.
I'm going to try downloading an old Nvidia driver to see if that works.
I was trying it with Dead Space 2, didn't make a difference.
However, it seems I've finally found the culprit! It's EVGA Precision XOC.
I tried downloading a past Nvidia driver and installing it. Upon booting up the game it seemed to work, Reshade, SweetFX and controller support and all! I thought it must therefore have been the driver but then I noticed my EVGA Precision had frozen up, so I closed it down and booted it up again, then tried the game again and it crashed just like before. So I've been experimenting and it seems pretty conclusive: when EVGA Precision XOC is running, Dead Space (all of them) crashes with the Reshade+SweetFX mod. If I run the game without EVGA Precision XOC running, the game runs just fine with the mod (and I don't lose controller support like I did with the Optimus fix.)
So, good news in the sense that I now know what the cause of the problem is. But now I am absolutely baffled as to why this has suddenly happened. Just a few months ago I could play the Dead Space games with EVGA running and it was fine, and it isn't affecting any of my other games so far.
Do you have any idea why EVGA could be causing problems with Reshade+SweetFX?
Not really sure, perhaps the newest update changed it for working with the newer type of driver and it somehow effected how it works with DirectX. Microsoft has gradually been moving away from directx since they started making consoles, which is why so many older dx games no longer work or work but have issues. As a result most effects run through GPU's, which is much less effective and slower since it requires much more processing power. This is why so many use things like reshade, enb or sweetfx, but they can be effected by these updates to the O/S and driver software the same as other DX based games and software.
Following the Win10 21H2, O/S update - is when alot of these new issues started. I have an Asus Nvidia 3060 and since that update and Nvidia switching to the new driver type, it was a nightmare to get my stuff running properly so my games finally worked right. It also down-clocked my card 250 mhz, even the Asus software can't seem to set it. I have an O/C edition with a clock speed of 2450 but since those changes it won't run over 2200. I can lower it but not raise it past the 2200 now and if I don't use the Asus software it drops to 1850 and stays at that, even MSI afterburner can't raise it past 1850 without first raising it with Asus, but then it only will goto 2200, defeating the purpose of MSI.
There's even a pic of it running at 2399 on the box and manual settings include the 2450 setting but won't allow it to go that high now. Even if I run the Nvidia tune program, it tests the upper clock speeds but it always sets the clock to 1850, only the Asus software will raise it to 2200. Rolling back my Nvidia software won't correct it and Win10 of course won't uninstall the 21H2 update, so I'm stuck with the clock issue now. I blame it on Microsoft.
Just one more reason to hate Microsoft - and I say that as an Xbox player.
Ironic that they started moving away from DX when they started making consoles when the entire reason the Xbox is called this Xbox is it's short for "Direct X in a Box."
I'm not as technically savvy as you, but if I understand you correctly there's nothing any of us can really do about this. We can't avoid it or work around it, we just have to hope that a future update(s) fixes all these issues?
Just in case anyone else was having the same problem...
Turns out Precision XOC is obsolete and EVGA no longer support it. I had no idea. The new software is called Precision X1 and after uninstalling the former and installing the latter I have had no issues running any of the Dead Space games with Precision X1 running.
So if you're still running Precision XOC, uninstall it and install Precision X1 instead.
I dunno how my stupid ass did it, but now the game won't even start. I tried using the older reshade, and it would just crash as soon as I started it. So I uninstalled the game, but a bunch of files remained. When I try to delete them, windows is like "The files are already in use, close them first". I've searched google high and low and I'm just done. I got to play DS1 and 2 with the reshade, it looked awesome, if I don't get to play 3 at all it's not the end of the world.
First, restart the PC to release any files in use.
Place the files and try renaming the d3d9.dll to dxgi.dll Don't do the update yet. First test the game and see if it is running. If it is running and the reshade is running, then do the update.
Let me know if it has started working correctly at this point.
If not try the Nvidia optimus prime fix https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33227 Rename the d3d9.dll to "d3d9orig.dll" and extract and add the d3d9.dll from the optimus fix to your gamefolder with the other files.
This fixed the problem I'm currently having with the game not starting. However, the Optimus d3d9.dll file seems to disable controllers which is just as bad for me.
Great job with this mod mate! Decided to give dead space 3 another playthrough many years later. This Reshade got my game running from 50fps to 100fps. No idea how, but its true :) The game is so damn good at 100fps. Almost a different game entirely

always wondered why this game looked cartoony

thanks and great job with this reshade, very professional
Great game
If I remove the d3d9.dll the game launches fine but obviously without the reshade effects.
With the d3d9.dll in the game folder the game just will not start.
Please help!

If I remove these files they all run but if I have them installed as per the instructions each game crashes immediately on start up.
Occasionally Dead Space 3 will load up the first logo but will crash a few seconds later.
What's weird is I installed all these last year and ran the games just fine back then and haven't altered them.
Any ideas? The games look like crap without this reshade.
Happy I was able to help.
