It may be possible on DS1 but I couldn't get it to work. It had something to do with you can change the color of the texture but not the color of the light it emits. Which makes it look kinda weird. I know in DS2 people have made it work so its possible that it can be done and I just couldn't figure out how.
You'll need to use a program called TexMod to load the textures into the game. Get TexMod and select the DeadSpace.exe as the target application. Then click the folder icon and select the .tpf file that comes with the mod download. Then you should be able to start the game and see if the new texture has applied.
If it hasn't applied you may want to test it on a cracked copy of the game. For some reason I had issues running Texmod on Steam and Origin versions. It has something to do with security. I had the most luck moding a cracked version of a game. But that might not apply to everyone.
Here is a video explaining it better than I did. (its really not hard, i think this guy over explains it tbh) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1s5kfMTBOA&ab_channel=SnQQpyDog
