OK, … It's been a while, 12/7/23 update (copied from DIDMM post):
    UPDATED: 4/17/24

Sorry that this post wasn't posted to this riptide version when it should have been, but here it is (4/17/24):
--Keep in mind that because this post was made on the DIDMM mod page, that issues pertaining to that specific game you can ignore.--

I've been a bit more busy than I had expected, but I want to do another update to clean up the code and take a look at adding more features. I'll take another look through these posts and make a list of features that people have suggested and see what I can try and what I can't do, so if you have some features, reply to this post with those suggestions.

    Please note:
-Auto aim removal seems to be a bit advanced for me, as it looks to require some hex editing of the main executable. If anyone has some experience, I would greatly appreciate it!

-Animations, models, and textures are locked behind “.Rpak” files (encrypted archives) and from my research it seems like it is possible to extract the contents but file names might be needed to do that and anyway, repacking it seems problematic too. There has been some work in this field for dying light which is the same file structure wise, but this is a bit advanced for me and if anybody could help I would greatly appreciate it! I would love to be able to bring back the OG weapon models.
A side note on audio: I was able to extract audio, but I don't believe I'd be able to repack it. I'll see what I can do with this, whether it be a wacky sound overhaul or something else.

-forcing specific loot rarity seems buggedSome say the option to force legendary loot in locked chests (cheat chests) works and some say it doesn't so I kept that option in but from my testing it breaks chests. I will continue to look into this, but it's weird because what I'm changing should be working, but it isn't.
There was another mod that popped up a while ago, and I compared what mine did compared to theirs. We both did it the same way, and that other mod has since been deleted from the nexus, I assume it was removed because it didn't work, but IDK.

-I don't plan to implement a 3rd person camera. I've seen a video that shows it might be possible, but it looks janky and would be annoying to implement, probably. (but like most things I'm not opposed, it just wouldn't be a priority)

-Addressing the problems with nighttime and flashlightI love the nighttime option, but because the way light is implemented in the game, it makes it hard to make it look right. Additionally, not being able to make the flashlight unlimited really sucks. I've provided guidance on adjusting gamma settings for improved visibility and added different light levels. Also on that note, the cars might be moddable to have the headlights work because I've seen it done in the OG version but was unable to implement it last time I tried.
EDIT:  I was able to get the headlights working, but they are very dim, and I need to see if I can change that.

-Addressing Dev menu: The Developer menu is very useful for playing this game even if you don't want to cheat all the time, but I don't want to just add DeadlyCobraXXX's menu into this menu unless they're cool with that. For now, ill add an option that will bring you to his menu and then have the menu install it for you with all your selected options.

EDIT:  I have contacted DeadlyCobraXXX and plan to include an option to install his mod menu!

I plan to start working on this soon. I enjoy doing this but keep in mind that I'm balancing making this mod with work and family, so it be what it be.

Also thanks to all that have endorsed and rated the mod(menu)! I really didn't expect this mod (menu) to become so popular!
I'm really glad that I could bring new life into this game for all of you!

If you have any feature suggestions, reply to this post.

Future of Dead Island Definitive mod menu
With Dead island 2 coming out I had expected and have seen an increase in people using this mod menu with that I will say I have been pretty busy but I would like to fix the bugs that people have brought up so in my free time I do plan on keeping up on bug fixes when I can but as for new features I am not opposed to adding new feature but it isn't a currently a priority.

Also speaking of Di2 I would definitely love to mod /make a menu for Di2 but atm I believe it's in Unreal engine instead of chrome engine and I would need to see if its even possible to mod/make changes.

I would like to thank everyone who has tried and enjoyed this mod menu/mods.

      Hi,

any idea why Avast thinks the file is infected with Win32:Malware Gen?

      Cheers.

I sent copies to a few antivirus companies and some got back and whitelisted my program and some just don't have a way to contact them and its been a bit and the emails are buried at this point but I thought avast was solved.
Nonetheless it is safe to use and if you want to you could review the code or build it from source yourself as it is on GitHub (https://github.com/Fireeyeeian/DeadIsland-Riptide-Ultimate-edition-mod-menu)

It's probably best to use deadly cobras dev menu to do that as messing with health in the data0pak is a bit hacky.

On his YouTube vid he has a link in the description (riptides at the bottom): https://youtu.be/xhofFCVzA_w

Grab the mod only version and then open up the data0.pak copy the menu folder to the data0.pak that you want the menu in or just run his data0.pak. If you copy his menu into a data0.pak that my menu made then just so you know it will over right the version info text you see in the main menu.

wait so, how do you add that mod to yours without like, completely breaking your mod, I just want the dev menu only, will that break your mod?

It won't break it at all, in fact I use the dev menu in testing all the time with my mod.
First off mod the game how you like it.
Then go download the dev menu from DeadlyCobraXXX (DeadlyCobraXXX has a YouTube video on his dev menu and it has the links to the files in the description, with riptides version at the Bottom) So the way the dev menu works is it modifies some xui files, xui files are what make the hud and menus look like they do; So just download the data0.pak that has that has the dev menu in it then because the data0.pak is basically just a zip file, open it up in either 7zip or WinRAR and find the "menu" folder then find the "SCR" folder, inside the scr folder there will be a bunch of .xui files. The only files that pertain to the dev menu are:

      • backgroundmodulescreen.xui
      • menubestiary.xui
      • menuexclusivecontent.xui
      • menuinventory.xui
      • menuoptionscontrolsgamepad.xui
      • menupassworddialog.xui
      • menuprogressdialog.xui
      • menuselectleaderboard.xui
      • menushop.xui
      • menutrading.xui
      • uigamemoviebackground.xui
Now keep that open and also go to the games install directory and find the data0.pak that you modded (it will be in the DI folder)
now go to the same scr folder in your modded data0.pak and drag those 11 .xui files into the scr folder and overwrite them.
BOOM now you also have the dev menu and it will be 100% compatible.

Question... After adding the 11 *.xui files to your mod, is there any modding program tools needed to repackage the data0.pak file, and would you mind sharing any necessary steps to repackage the file?

Also, can the same thing be done with your DIDE (DIDMM) mod?

So the .pak file is essentially just a .zip so once you have the files inside the pack it should work. basically just add files/modify files inside the .pak and run the game and yeah both my menus work the same

      Thank you very much!!

I recently purchased both DIDE & DIRDE and was surprised to see there is still activity in the modding community. Are you still working on updating both/either of your Mod Menu mods? Please know there is no pressure intended with my question. I am only asking to know if I should plan to keep an eye out for future updates. I know making mods is a labor of love, as I used to make my own mods for Fallout 3 and ARMA 2 back in the day ;) I recently got back into PC gaming and modding again. I know it can be challenging, but it is worth it in the end.

So the update for DIDE (not riptide) is done I just want to test it out and confirm things are working. The better loot mod is something that I'm kind at a loss for because the game doesn't follow what I change in the default.loot file for some odd reason so ill keep the mod available to use but put a warning on it. there are some small things id like to do but its just some nitpicking like the tool tips aren't working for the buttons on the new popup menu but its whatever tbh.
basically I plan on uploading the update to the dide menu sometime within the next few days (hopefully before next week (maybe tonight)) and then I might update the riptide one to have the same features/fixes, I'd like too but I don't have a date for that. once Dead island 2 comes out I'm going to look into modding that once it comes out.

      Very cool! Thanks again!!

Your mod is very complex compared to simply making some alterations to a file and replacing the existing versions. Yours rewrites everything based on what options the end user selects. That is much more complex as it essentially needs to identify the input changes, rewrite the files, and then replace the existing game files, if you're mod does what I understand it to be doing. Great work my friend, great work!!!

Thank you, Basically it extracts a data0.pak (a mostly clean version that is bundled with the menu) and modifies the files on a line by line basis so to allow the most compatibility with different options. The simple line edits are relatively easy but can take some time writing the lines and figuring out the line numbers/values for the specific changes.
some of the most tedious things are changing values- going in game then seeing the change then closing the game and adjusting from there and kind of just testing out how different values affect the engine/game.

I am having some issues making this work. I downloaded the Dev Mod - Menu Only version from DeadlyCobraXXX, then used 7zip to move the 11 noted files to the games data).pak file, but nothing shows up in the games pause menu like he shows in his video. I double checked that the 11 noted files were changed by using 7 zip and opening the Data0.pak file, but when I play the game, I still don't get any cheat menus on the right side of the pause screen. Is there a step I am missing, or is there possibly another file I need that is not listed here?

Edit - I figured it out. I had to use the following files from DeadlyCobraXXX's Dev Menu(this info is for DIDE, not DIRDE).....

      backgroundmodulescreen.xui
      menubestiary.xui
      menuexclusivecontent.xui
      menuingame.xui
      menuinventory.xui
      menuoptionscontrolsgamepad.xui
      menupassworddialog.xui
      menuprogressdialog.xui
      menuselectleaderboard.xui
      menushop.xui
      menutrading.xui
      uigamemoviebackground.xui

It is possible that a couple of these files may have no impact, but I was able to identify some changes from the original game files in them so I used them all.

*******Please note for anybody else reading this, this list is for merging DeadltyCobraXXX Dev Menu with Fireeyeeian's Mod Menu for DIDE. It is not for Dead Island Riptide, so the files Fireeyeeian noted above may be accurate for DIRDE, as I haven't tried it yet for that game. Hopefully this helps somebody else that might be trying to merge the 2 mods on DIDE.

@fireeyeeian Thanks for this amazing Mod Menu!!!

yeah I just noticed it wasn't working too and being that I have mods for both riptide and the first game I might have mistaken one for the other so I rechecked (using winmerge) what files were changed in the dev menu and got it working again.

You could just replace the whole menu folder if you wanted too, doing that would overwrite the menu text I added and the skip intro movies mod (only those think)

DeadlyCobraXXX has a link for his dev menu for both DI riptideDE and DIDE in the description of his video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhofFCVzA_w
      (Riptide is at the bottom)

If you chose to update this at a later point, would it potentially be possible to either add an xp multiplier/income multiplier/a custom npc or if to hard add to a random npc shop all of the components for crafting and or recurring quests like the painkillers for cheap.

that would be very cool, health regen is not a thing that is very needed though. also, another request (sorry for so many), is there a way you can also add that zombies can't throw weapons or maybe just not spawn with them? the one-hit glitch makes the game very frustrating.

I like your mod but it has one issue. You do change the max. amount of ammunition in the default levels.xml, but not in purna levels.xml which gives her less ammo instead of more. The same with sprint and jump stamina consumption for Xian. So the characters who should be stronger in these regards end up being weaker than the rest.
