Do you think It's possible to remove the ring/buff effects this way too ( mainly the grass crest/stemina regen one ) ? I used blank textures to replace the stamina regen buff with DSfix, which is obviously not an option with the "remaster". I realise that this may not be the place for such a requests but I'd be extremly grateful for such a mod.

Unfortunately, no. The UI textures are in a different format than most of the other textures in the game. The modding tools we have are capable of unpacking and repacking the format that the UI textures use, but not the format that the other textures use.

I would really like to remove those ugly effects as well, but there doesn't seem to be any texture override tool that works with Dark Souls Remastered. DSfix, TexMod, iGP11 and Resorep all seem to be incompatible with this game. It would be nice if someone could make a tool that either allows us to override textures, as those tools do, or a tool that can unpack and repack the game's texture files.

Oh that's bad. Seems like a step backward from DS3 where these effects were used unobtrusively.
Well, thanks alot for explanation, all we have left to do is wait then.

I've actually managed to extract and rebuild the files used for non-UI textures. Just extracted the texture I wanted to modify, then used iGP11's texture management tool to convert the texture to a usable format. It's a huge pain in the ass, but it works. Should mention that so far I've only managed to extract and modify map/level textures, still trying to work out how to edit objects

EDIT: believe I've found where all the other textures are located (or maybe this was common knowledge, dunno). From what I can tell, everything texture related such as weapons, armor etc. is stored in the parts folder, same process of using iGP11 to view/convert the textures still applies.
Really though this isn't by any means a viable way to mod the game, due to the way everything is sorted it would quite a few hours to change one thing

EDIT2: So in theory I guess you could use the original's debug model viewer to figure out the exact name of what you want to modify. But seeing as how Wulf2k's site is down, I'm not sure where you would obtain the loadlists to stop it from crashing

EDIT3: Using DSMODT with a copy of the original game, you can find the exact name of the dcx file you need to modify. Something with how the game handles specular maps is off though, no matter what settings I've tried to use the texture just becomes a garbled mess ingame
Here's what it looks like: https://imgur.com/a/qMrf23J
Here's an example of what the specular maps look like: https://imgur.com/a/jX8MFLu

I've never seen anything like that; I'm sure there's a way to do it, but that's not my area of expertise. Could also be a problem with the normal map, not really sure. This exact set of textures I'm trying to use works in both the original and DS3, no idea what or why they changed how things work

    Hi Dziggy! Nice work!
Could you explain me how to "unzip" that .dcx files for modding please?
    Thank you so much!

I used Wulf2k's BNDBuild tool, but it's not available for download any more. You'd probably need to ask a community such as the Dark Souls Mods subreddit how to get it now.

Thanks for this! It’ll be interesting to try out once the game starts feeling stale. I actually think that health bars in general(not just Dark Souls) should be replaced with non-immersion breaking forms of visual feedback like bleeding and at least two states of labored movement. I’m disappointed that DSR didn’t implement DS3’s autohide HUD feature. That was an elegant way of giving the player all the info they need when they need it, while also showcasing the visuals without any UI clutter. Hopefully that can be patched in, or maybe some mod wizard will work their magic? ;)

Yeah, I like minimal HUDs whenever possible, and auto-hiding HUDs for whatever does need to be on the screen. Would be nice if they patched that in, but I doubt they will.
