May I ask if you could please provide the IDs of animations edited and how by how many frames has the parry event been extended in each one? Currently trying to use this mod with another c0000.anibnd-modifying one to make the game slightly easier, without it becoming a cakewalk.
Sorry it's been 2 years now since I made this mod and I have unfortunately forgotten the IDs, however I've listed some information about the frames in the description:I had tried another mod that extended the parry window at the time but I found that mod to take all of the challenge out of parrying, a friend of mine was having trouble getting into the game after trying to parry for a few hours so I decided to make this as a learning tool without it feeling 'free' for lack of a better word.
first of all i want to thank you since im not good at parrying and this will be a life saver for me. anyways, im new into the modding community and i dont know how to install it since i have a cracked version of dark souls (just cause i firstly wanna try it and i'll defenitely buy it together with the sequels). is there a way you could help me?
edit: im stupid...it was really easy to install, but i still have a question, how do i understand if i installed the mod correctly and its working? just by seeing if parrying is easier?
Hi there, thanks for trying my mod and sorry I didn't see your comment sooner. Seeing if parrying is easier is a good idea but it might be a little ambiguous, you could try the optional file to use it with the other animation change mods (which I greatly recommend). Make sure to follow the instructions written on the optional file if you choose to do so!
Question: the optional file tells you to install all the other mods it merges and then install this one but wouldn't the merged file just overwrite the .dcx file anyway or am I missing something?
Yes that's correct, first backup your chr and install Better Rolling, then install 'Better Backsteps (Full) plus Better Rolling merged file (optional GCR)' from the better backsteps file page, then install my 'Better Rolling- Better Backsteps- Gesture Cancel Remastered- Charitable Parry Merged Version'
Personally I don't think there needs to be a mod like this, parrying is pretty simple and consistent once you get down the timing. But then again, I have practiced it for 300+ hours lol
Then it sounds like mod isn't for you, as someone who's gone through all From's games many times it's not for me either.
The issue is, some people will straight up drop dark souls at the get-go, I want to share dark souls with those who would love the game but don't click with it immediately. This mod doesn't aim to make parrying simpler or more convenient, only slightly more generous to allow new players who aren't willing to struggle through the initial mechanical frustrations but who definitely will be willing once the game clicks for them. Because as I'm sure you know, when you're in, you're in.
But who knows, for some players it may not click at all, this mod isn't for them either.
If the mods not for you then its not for you. I personally clicked this mod because I found DS1 parrying quite easy after m many hours, but I was just going to read what they changed and some of the posts because clearly its not for me or you but is for other people. Why did you feel the need to make this comment mate?
Yo, thank you for this mod. It's dudes like you who help me enjoy playing Dark Souls without having to feel l gotta go into "sweaty gamer mode", lol. I love Dark Souls, but it's base gameplay can be challenging for guys like me.
