Pssssst, if you guys wanna do your own twinkering around with Dark Souls 3 Classes, heres a copy-pasted description I recently wrote out of someone asking about it.

This is gonna be the only real tool you need for the process. It's called Yapped. https://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls3/mods/306

Once you install it, just use Yapped to find your Data0.bdt in Dark Souls 3 Directory Game Folder.

Once you do that, under the 'Param' tab in Yapped, click on 'CharaInitParam'

Then Scroll down the second column next to the 'Param' Tab and you should get to the numbers:

    3000

    3001

    3002

    3003

    3004

    3005

    3006

    3007

    3008

    3009

Each one of those 10 number rows each represent the 10 Dark Souls 3 Classes in order, with 3009 being Deprived Class.

Clicking on each Row Number will display more information in the 3rd column of Yapped. For example, on 3000 you should see the name 'equip_Wep_Right' and next to it, the Value '2010000'

That means the right handed weapon equipped is whatever ID Code is tied to the number '16000000' (which is the Long Sword)

To change any class's starting equipment, just look up the Item ID Codes that you want: https://commands.gg/ds3/items

Then use this Hex Calculator (https://www.calculator.net/hex-calculator.html) to change the ID Code you want into a decimal code to put Copy and Paste back into Yapped. I.e ID Code for Long Sword is 001EAB90. Put it in the Hex Calculator and you get '2010000' like I mentioned above.

As for starting skills and levels, just scroll futherdown the 3rd column of any of the numbers for 3000-3009 and you will find that stats, such as 'basevit' for Vitality, aka Health Points. Simply change the number next to it and bam! Stat changed.

Huh. That's a new one...I'm sorry, I'm not sure what to say. That should work. Maybe verify your game files to 'Uninstall' it, then download it again to give it a second go? Maybe you'll stumble upon something in the process, cause I literally don't have any idea why it wouldn't work for you specifically. In complete honesty, the problem is almost certainly on your end somewhere, not that I blame you for missing something, who doesn't at some point right?

Maybe you have another mod installed already that infers with this one? Maybe there a prompt to 'Overwrite' files when you dragged my mod into your game folder and you didn't confirm the overwrite? Don't know, just guessing without more information.

If taking my advice and resetting to try installing it all over again, still does lead you to figure out the issue, then I'm truly at a lost of what ever is happening, sorry.

Just wondering if you knew if this mod works with other mods that edit the Data0 file?

      I'm very sorry but no.

However, if you are willing to try, you could install the OTHER mods that edit Data0 files, and then INSTEAD of installing this mod, just download yapped (https://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls3/mods/306/?tab=posts&topic_id=7290256) and use yapped to edit your already modded Data0 file so that you can have your own custom class too.

If you want to give yapped a go and try making your own custom class to your liking, just look for 'CharacterInitParam' (or something like that) and scroll down until you find the numbers 3000-3009. Those numbers are for each of the ten classes. You can edit them however you want. If you want different equipment and armour just look up Dark souls 3 item codes and you should be able to find what you need! (Note that the item codes will require a hex calculator (https://www.calculator.net/hex-calculator.html?b2dnumber1=00031128&calctype=b2d&x=121&y=24#hex2decimal) to translate the code into the number that yapped can read.)

This is exactly how I did it :D I already have the Draw Distance Increased mod, which also uses the Data0 file. So I just modded the changes of this mod here into the modded Data0 file I already had....worked like a charm :D (also taught me something about DkS3 modding, which is a huge plus if you ask me)

    Hi!

I use the Increased draw distance mod which means my Data0.bdt has already been tweaked. Can I ask, how would I tweak the vanilla starting classes so they all begin at SL1?

I pass to you the very wisdom that I found in order to make this mod originally. Follow these instructions and you can simply adjust the Soul Levels for each class if you so like and/or make further adjustments to the vanilla class as I did: https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkSoulsMods/comments/5pyjzy/guide_create_custom_starting_classes_with_the/

Isn't that post for Dark Souls 1 or does it work for Dark Souls 1 AND Dark Souls 3?

I have been doing research on how to enhance starting classes but haven't been having a lot of luck. Any advise or suggestions?

Yes, not to worry you can attune them at the shirelink bonfire. Sadly they don't show it right at the start so you will have to get past the tutorial boss on your own skill and merit first.

I think the most likely reason it's not working for you, is because the 'Game' Folder isn't being placed in the correct place. Would be able to double check to make sure its placed in your 'DARK SOULS III' folder inside 'Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common' for me?

If it still doesn't work, then I'm not sure why it isn't working for you. Is there any additional information you can give me to help understand your issue? Could you walk me through how you installed it?

Oh yes sorry for any confusion! Unfortunately, even after reaching out to other mod authors, no one has been able to find a way to edit class names yet or their descriptions for that matter.

On the description page of this mod, I have listed the Intended Build for the class just above the stats. The 'Thief' class is simply one of the two dex builds. I have provided two STR builds, two DEX builds and two STR+DEX hybrid classes. I wanted to have two of each so people could have more flexibility when it came to their stats and equipment right out of the gate.

Again I apologise for not making this more clear on the Description page. I will update the page right now.

Have you checked with Xylozi , author of the Cinders mod? Class names were changed in Cinders.

    Great mod!

I very much liked the deprived twist of having good rings to reward fighting the first boss with a broken sword.

    Thanks!

Glad to hear you like it! I personally always play deprived and I was a little worried that the broken sword might be bit much for some people so it's fantastic to hear you approve!

It was great! It's tough but that's what makes you feel like you earned the rings.

After the deprived playthrough now I'm doing a pure strength one and I love that your Warrior doesn't waste points in attunement, dex, etc.

      Thanks again!

Also now I'm doing a Warrior (pure STR) playthrough and I love that your version doesn't waste levels in stats that don't matter for the class.

      Thanks again!

This is indeed an entertaining way to start after so many times replaying the game, so you don't get bored on early levels, and I never liked to start a game with an already leveled up character. Very nice and fair variety of classes and equipment. Simple but great mod!
