The program used to mod Dark Souls 3, and many other games from FROMSOFT is called "Yapped". There are tons of guides for beginners on youtube on how to use the program!
Yapped doesn't seem to work for me even when I change the right settings. I can get the cheat engine to do almost anything except change the magic as the values I need to change are locked. Maybe I have something keeping Yapped from working properly. spEffectid 11430 is supposed to add damage and numshoot is supposed to add simultaneous projectiles which should double, triple etc. damage. Let me know if it works for you.
How do I tell if it's working? The magic still doesn't seem very good. I replaced the file as directed in the game folder. Does it only work if I don't use the mod engine at the same time?
You don't need mod engine for it to work. It's not really intended to be super OP, just tries to make pure caster a more viable option. Once you get like 40 faith/int magic gets pretty out of control though.
Try swapping the files out back to back to see if you notice a difference to confirm it working
So even though I am using a mod in the mod engine that shouldn't interfere? The issue is I still find myself having to use a sword frequently so that defeats the purpose of being a magic user in my mind. Any chance for a 100% version?
Cinders modifies the same file that I used to accomplish this mod so it definitely will conflict and will probably cause horrible issues. Convergence isn't something I've used but I would be surprised if they accomplished a mod of that scale without touching the file I used. I would err on the side of caution and say it's not compatible as well. If there is sufficient demand/interest in this mod being ported into those mods, then I'll message the creators of those mods so I can work with them and make a version for those mods :)
Id like to see one for Convergence. I tried this with it and after much experimentation and it made 0 difference because of Convergence and to me even after the changes made by Convergence I still would like more magic power
Honestly after the holidays I'm strongly considering making a version for both cinders and convergence. If it's something people actually want then I don't mind spending the time making it a reality <3
If you're using the dark souls 3 mod engine then this is an issue commonly encountered with it. You need to have an existing character before you can use mod engine, otherwise you'll get that bug
You can just drag and drop the file in the zip into \Steam\steamapps\common\DARK SOULS III\Game I would back up the ?Data0.bdt file though as that's the one being overwritten.

EDIT: Never mind, figured it out.
I'm trying to combine this one with others mods as well.
Thanks.
