I have updated to v2.6! Nothing has changed other than the removal of the overhead clouds from this version due to the above mentioned problem (see sticky). I will still offer versions 2 and 2.5 for those who don't care about the issue, so you still have a choice. In the meantime i will try to figure out another way to reduce the cloudiness while not disrupting the other area.
Note: The actual skybox textures are the same as both v2 and v2.5.
My goal with this skybox was to brighten up the sky and reveal the distant landscape that is near impossible to see in the original skybox. This isn't anything mind-blowing, you'll see it for about two seconds and it's far from perfect due to game-related things i can't change. I tried my hardest on this one and while it has fallen short in a lot of ways it's still better than the original IMO.
Warning!!!I found a texture overlap. For some stupid reason they decided to reuse the overhead cloud texture from BCT in the transition area between Huntsman's Copse and Harvest Valley; the area right after the Skeleton Boss fight with the bridge you have to lower to get to Harvest Valley. So what you'll now see running through that very small area is a brighter blue/teal sky.
So If it bothers you then delete the following files: ab32087d.dds - High 0d2cda16.dds - Medium 857f1ce0.dds - Low
Removing those does not affect the mid-to-low horizon sky in BCT. All it will do is revert the overhead clouds to a darker cloud.
Love the mod, just getting into dks2 pc. Got it on ps3 at launch so i could play with psn friends. But i just got a new GTX970 Gigabyte G1 SOC edition and i'm just itching to try out the new Nvidia Super Dynamic Resolution/SDR 4k downsampling technology. Imagine combining these great texture and skybox alterations with that tech which essentially turns dark souls 2's entire world into 4k textures on a 1080p screen!
I would have loved to do more to it but there are so many issues going on that distort the skybox that it's not worth it. I guess that's why the original is so dark and green, it almost seemed like an afterthought. I was really on the fence about releasing it but after consulting with Cavou i figured why not.
No other skyboxes are planned right now. I wanted to do something with Drangleic but it is the same situation as this skybox. Insane darkening applied to the skybox along with worldspace distortions. So idk. I'll think about it after i do a couple more weapons or armor first.
