A lot to ask and completely understandable if you don't feel like doing it, but if possible I'd love an alternate color scheme. Specifically, silver blade with the gold adornments and guard. The original DS1 silver version was like this, and I quite enjoyed it. As it stands, loving the mod and my game is now much more complete with its addition. So thank you a ton for what you've provided as it is!
I'm totally confused as to what you're asking for.
There are two versions of this sword. The totally silver version and there's a version with gold guard, hilt and blade design with a silver/steel blade. The original DS1 (and DS2) sun sword was a super-bland grey sword that almost looks like it was made of stone. So i don't know what you're asking for.
The gold version sounds like what you want so what am i missing from what you are asking for?
Lol, wow, I'm totally sorry for that. I'm a fool that only looked at the first few screenshots. In the first couple of the gold, the sun glare gives the slight impression that the blade itself is gold as well. Of course later screenshots make it really clear that it's not, and even now that I realize it's not looking at the first two it's kinda obvious that it's just sun glare and light refraction adding the golden hue.
Installed the gold version and am now even happier with an already awesome mod. Thanks again for the upload, and thanks for humoring my moment of ignorance. :p
Oh, that's what i thought you were seeing. Definitely can see why you'd think the blade is gold too. Maybe i'll take some new non-Majula screenshots so the lighting doesn't obscure the blade color.
Hey. Maybe it's because I installed GeDoSaTo in the steam Dark souls 2 folder, or because my version is Scholar of the First Sin and not the vanilla Dark Souls 2, but the textures are not loading for me. Do you have an idea the solution might be? I'd really love to have your awesome textures in my game. Oh, and I already had the sword when I installed them, but I didn't think that would be a problem.
If you're playing the DX11 version of the game GEDOSATO will not work and you can't use the textures. Like i said in the sticky right above your comment...
You can only use these textures if you play the DX9 version of the game because GEDOSATO only works with DX9 games. And it doesn't look like GEDO will ever be updated for the DX11 version of DS2 either. Sad but true.
I repackaged and re-compressed all of the files and added new (and much better) inventory icons for both versions of the sword. The icons actually look like the sword now and not some muddy, undefined, nebulous blob or paint by numbers icon. The lower quality textures may have improved slightly as well. They looked a tiiiny bit sharper than the v1.1 textures.
It still is as detailed it just isn't as noticeable when you are at normal distance. I put in a lot of fine detail and there's only so much you're going to be able to see and what the game can display as you get further away. Also, certain graphics enhancements may obscure detail. So idk, sorry it seems to bother you, though. It is as detailed whether you are close or far away and that's all i can say about it.
The only thing i can suggest that would improve detail is downsampling the resolution through gedosato. I don't do it because it's not necessary to me but it would improve in-game resolution.
I posted updates for both versions of the swords. The updates are adding the low-res textures that gedosato failed to dump. There still may be a random resolution still on the loose that hasn't dumped but i don't expect to see that. So this may be the final "resolution" update. I may still add new colors or designs if time permits and how popular this becomes but no promises.
if you could restore the Heide knight armor to a new shiny armor, you'll be my hero bro! praise the sun! p.s: and new texture for Defender's greatsword please....
Best way to get the set is to kill the knight that is in Lost Bastille. (Exile Holding Cell bonfire. Short walk to the knight from the bonfire, with only one enemy in the way.) Using a greathammer will make this simple, as your heavy attack will stunlock the red phantom and the Heide Knight. Assuming that you're attempting to get the entire set via bonfire ascetic, you will need more than one, as the armor does not drop all together, but only in pieces from darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com
I will try to take the tarnish taken away, not just recolor it and i'll probably stick to the original color scheme because it goes well with my sun sword.
Edited because i am dumb and don't pay attention to who i am talking to sometimes...
Hey, I uploaded a screenshot of my progress so far. The screenshot is in the images section for this mod. I have not messed with the shininess yet and all i've quickly done are the cape and legs so it should be pretty easy to see the differences between the vanilla textures and what i have edited.
Mind you, this is a very dirty and unfinished edit so far so don't expect magic. Let me know what you think.
Yeah, i was screwing around and put Solaire's sun symbol on the back because it was too plain, but with the way textures work they can also be seen on the inside of the cape, not just on the back.

WARNING!!! THESE TEXTURES DO NOT WORK WITH THE DX11 VERSION OF THE GAME. THEY WILL NOT WORK UNTIL GEDOSATO IS UPDATED TO BE DX11 COMPATIBLE.

But whatever, glad you like it.

Okay, that's it for now.
