I really like it, though I removed the moss wall textures as the lichen and moss it had before seemed much more realistic. Give it some curves and enrich the depth and it looks great.
Thanks! The problem I was running into, is that too much detail pops back out how tiled it is. This is my reasoning for using something so simple. I'll see what I can do with a few alternate ideas though...
Try extremely large textures (4MP and above) and make textures out of a section, usually helps with the illusion of the texture. Large textures downsized to fit in the dimensions of the file is where your eyes see to much repeating.
Not sure why that would be? So long as the original, or variant (renamed) are in the override folder, it should work. That sucks, sorry man, hope you get it sorted!
Looks a bit TOO grassy, in my opinion. Maybe give it some of its original moss-like look back could make it look a bit better, but I do love the quality!
An improvement over vanilla since it gets rid of the super obvious tiling, but yeah, it's a little flat. Not sure if there's a way around that since as you've mentioned, adding too much detail will cause more tiling. I think a less dark green might blend in with the environment a bit better.
Thanks! I'll hopefully have some alternate textures soon, and a more vivid green for the original. I'll keep workin on it.. Not sure how much I can do regarding how flat it looks, most of the vanilla textures suffer from this as well. I'm not even certain the ground textures use normal maps, I couldn't find one, anyway (though I could have missed it while sifting thru texture dumps.) Thanks for the kind words, I'll see what I can come up with.
I always appreciate textures like these, but for me, they aren't an improvement because they have the same bland problem of being the same texture throughout. It's actually worse, as now it looks like someone spraypainted green over the level, because the texture us purely grass, whereas the original had mossy clumps over the grassy parts.
But some people might like this green carpet look, too. Variety is always best!
I like the original more. The ground here is rock covered with dirt and old moss, not grassy plains. Perhaps if you add in some more detail like roots, patches where there's no grass at all, just make it look more gritty and worn.
Well, at least your criticism is constructive, thank you. Yeah, honestly, I it was more a 'proof of concept' at this point, prototype... I'll be putting some variants up soon. Thanks!

But thats what a first version of a mod is for
Regardless, your work is appreciated!
