Wow! 15k endorsements, i am blown away. Thanks to everyone who has rated it, i hope you all got to enjoy this incredible game just a little more with this mod
Just released a different version of the mod that will reduce the chance of stutter on most systems. I did it by reducing the bump map size on some of the less important textures. The results are improved performance with very little to zero loss of quality on all textures.
You said you made 800 MB worth of textures before realizing the 300 MB limit. If you were able to reduce the file size by reducing the bump maps on some textures, would you be able to do the same for some of the ones you were unable to add prior creating a new 200 MB download that contains more textures then the current version at the cost of a small loss of quality on some?
I hate to hear that you can't use 600 MB of textures you created. This way you could at least get a bit more of it squeezed in. I would be happy having a few textures with lower bump maps if it means I get even more newly improved textures.
And thank you for this. I'm still on my first time playthrough and it's made a world of difference.
Just tested out the new texture pack, the stuttering have definitely reduced. Great job! and thank you for your hardwork in keeping the Souls modding community still alive!
*FYI, the stuttering can be further reduced if you have a ssd versus a conventional hard drive. If you have the cash be sure in invest in a good ssd and the stutters will almost be gone completely*
This texture pack is a must have, thanks for all your hard work Are there issues loading additional textures with DSFix if you use the LAA patch on the main executable? Have you tried contacting Durante to see if there is a workaround?
the latest version causes my game to crash to desktop during the loading screen after the character selection screen. (the loading screen before i actually start playing), note that i copied the files over the previous (Lite) version and replaced as necessary, any idea why the game crashes?
On the subject of more textures and DSFix, there is an unpacking tool for Dark Souls 1. Can we not just unpack the game files then manually replace the textures instead of using DSFix to stream them to the game? This would mean we can use the full thing and not just the 200mb limitation that you've implemented
if this is the mod i downloaded a few years back, this and the Wulfs Connectivity mod literally register PTDE on discord as "Dark Souls Remastered" meaning the devs just added 2 mods and sold for 40$
lol, what? that's funny, why would discord recognize it as remastered with just adding those 2 mods? weird. Guess the way discord recognizes games is getting fooled somehow.
Discord recognizes vanilla DS2 as SOTFS because of the .exe name. I'm not sure what makes Discord think PTDE is Remastered though but it isn't the 2 aforementioned mods as I have not installed them (yet.)
While these textures look amazing, they seem to not apply in certain areas of the game (namely the Painted World and Duke's Archives). Were it not for that, this mod would be a 10/10.
In your Dark Souls HD Texture Pack Performance Edition files, there is a texture called "2056c67e" which improves the quality of the wooden planks that make up the platforms you walk on in Blighttown, however this also makes them much darker and harder to see when there is no light source near them. Could you please redo this single texture and make them lighter just like you did with the textures "408a304d" and "148700e3" in your Optional Blighttown textures pack to make Blighttown lighter like the original FromSoftware atmosphere? I think the texture "2056c67e" should also be included in your Optional Blighttown textures pack, only redone and made lighter.
Hope to hear an answer from you on this question/topic, take care and thank you for your mod!

Excellent work BTW.
