    If it's not too much trouble, I'd love a version of this mod with just the added bonfires and nothing else

      Possible but a lot of work. Initially I only wanted to call the mod "additional bonfires" and just add bonfires. You could try only copying and overwriting the "event", "map" and "script" folder but there would be changes included that break e.g. sunbros and darkmoon covenant or I don't know if missing files from the params crash the game.

      To me it would be important to know what you DISLIKE about the mod that makes you wish for only additional bonfires. I had the intention to keep the game so true to the original that replaying it would only be different in a slight positive way but there must be something that bothers you too much. Could you describe it in as much detail or as rough as you like, please? I am open to changes as long as the argument is stronger than my intention to improve the design point.

      Oh thanks, I'll try doing that and see if it works.
      As for your mod, it's not that I dislike it in any way, it's just that I'm not too interested in mods that change the main gameplay in anyway. I enjoy a mostly vanilla experience (the overhaul mod has some nice QoL changes that I like), and the only real change I want is adding/fixing the bonfires.

      Hm, I totally get you. That's why I left some stuff untouched. The only thing you could notice as a melee (cause most changes can only be noticed if you play pyro or cleric) is that shields are starting out weaker, changed in mid range but stronger the rarer they get and the more str/dex they need. This is to give the melee classes more advantage and deny it for other classes.

      As I said you can try only copying those folder but it can mess up the game.

      I would appreciate it if you would try the mod as a whole and could give some feedback if something really bothered you while trying to get an enhanced vanilla experience.

      Oh wait, you also need to copy the "msg" folder for the text that needs to appear there. As I said, try at your own risk.
      Also copy the original file "m14_01_00_00.emevd" and "m15_01_00_00.emevd" from the "event" folder over the game again (they contain the titanite demon change).

      Again, if you could give me some feedback which changes bother you I would think about it and consider a change or offer you another solution. You could also simply use "DSMapStudio" and edit the parameters of the game e.g. if you dislike the new shield stats.

      Adding to the "would absolutely love this as well" train. Remastered has several additional bonfire mods, and honestly, I don't mind the vanilla game, I just want bonfires before bosses so I don't have to run five miles to Bed of Chaos or 4 Kings.

      This means you dislike some other changes. What exactly are those and why do they bother you?
      I really touched the least things possible and only tried to make existing stuff more fair and not nerf anything.
      But as I said the changes are too deep to only have the additional bonfires. I am actually working on an update for more spells and better vfx so if you have some feedback I might include some other changes.

      I'm not trying to fundamentally change the core of the game. It's just that the bonfire distribution in this game is bewildering (4 in Anor Londo, 0 in New Lando Ruins). I appreciate the work you have done; however, it seems you are our best hope for having a simple "add more bonfires" mod in PTDE.

      I agree. Just some trivia: there is actually a deactivated bonfire in New Londo Ruins on top of the catwalk. FromSoft simply decided to mess with players.

      Also my question was rather: If you don't want to play this mod which includes the additional bonfires then there must be something off-putting. What exactly is that?

      The mod doesn't list all file types and bnds that my mod includes so I would not advise to try it.

      Do you plan to use it together with other mods? Because it is most likely not compatible. Full installation instructions are on the description page if you are worried about that!

    Hi, I couldn't install mapstudio on my pc to see this, would you know which of the .msb files I need to delete to remove only the new bonfires without removing the new items? If that's possible, obviously, I have no idea if those two things are going to be in separate files.

      Unfortunately this is not possible as the map files contain all objects.

      What exactly is your intention? You are playing it for the first time and don't want additional bonfires? (and you don't know which ones are the original ones?)

      If you know the game already you can....just not sit at them :D
      If you don't know the game then the best way would be to look at a wiki site of the current map and search for bonfires and check if it exists.

    I think this mod might have been giving me CTDs in the Quelaag fight.

    I could get through the fog door and the cutscene, but I'd crash during Quelaag's initial charge I was able to complete the fight using the UDSFM backups (effectively disabling this mod) and then reverting after the fight. I don't have any other mods installed aside from DSFix, ReShade, and a couple of small texture mods. I tried disabling each of those first, and none of that helped.

    Unfortunately, since I completed the fight, I can't give you a test save, and I'm not even sure what changes you've made that would even affect that fight. Sorry I can't give you more to work with, but I thought I should at least let you know in case it might be helpful info for you.

    Edit: I'm actually crashing after I try to progress past the boss arena too now.

      Could you please upload your savefiles as a .zip file ("My Documents\NBGI" folder) somewhere and comment the link here?
      I did a test playthrough before release with pyro and cleric just to make sure everything works and I am hearing this for the first time.

      Fixed! I am already uploading the fixed version 1.0.9. I don't know how this happened. I checked every talk script and did playthroughs. It's like it reset this one. The error was simply that empty talk scripts exist in the game that are unused but for some reason when saving all talk from a map the game starts to use the fresh scripts. To fix this I already gave them content but this one was empty when I checked again. Weird. I am SO SORRY for the inconvenience!

      I'm playing as the bandit class using a heavy armor + sword and shield and a tiny bit of pyromancy, mostly the void spells. I played the game unmodded several years ago, but honestly it's been so long that it's hard for me to remember what it was like without this mod.

      The biggest thing that stands out are the extra bonfires, which are great; I would go so far as to say I wouldn't play the game again without them. I also really liked the early limited warp option. I'm neutral on the changes to shields because they don't affect my build too much. I'm doing a bit of a tank build, so the added damage on block is pretty negligible. I guess it would matter more if I were a squishier build. The void spells seem a tiny bit too powerful, given that I've invested next to nothing in my pyromancy flame, but that's a pretty minor thing.

      Yup, I wanted to nerf the early shields (so no mage can abuse them) but the rare ones and especially the heavy ones got serious buffs to the other resistances.

      Also the point that you can't really tell the difference between vanilla and this mod is intentional. I don't want anything to stand out. I want it to fit in naturally.

      Since sorcery is pretty strong at the endgame I wanted to give pyros and clerics a proper high-end spell. This is why the void orb is that strong but sadly there is no way to restrict it to pyromancers. I wish I could limit it to attunement levels or even pyro flame upgrade levels but it's not possible.
      However I could gate it behind such things through a dialogue maybe with Kaathe who want you to have a requirement. Hm....

    Since this touches up clerics with some Elden Ring inspirations, I would be really interested in a redesign of the gold resin buff. The lightning buff looks really lackluster in PTDE.

      I could give it a try but the redesign is more directed towards gameplay and less about visuals. I am happy that I managed to create the new spells (took the animations from the game and changed them a bit). Also I am an absolute amateur as I wrote in the description. I have never done anything similar before. On top of that I am literally editing .xml files to change the animations as there is no software. I will take a look in a week and see if I can manage to make it look better.

      If you leave the sewers bonfire, on the opposite side, there is a big pillar and she is around the corner. Keep in mind you need to have a pyro flame +10 otherwise she won't appear.

      phew, I thought I messed up but I just started a new playthrough again and went there, then cheated myself a +11 flame and she appeared!

      thx bro finally i can ascend my pyro hand :D (why didn't i check in that corner lol). but there is one that bit annoys me in your mod bro it is respawned titanite demon in anor londo. this guy is pain in ass to kill in NG+ let alone have to fight him in a small room and he can also one shot me if not using heavy armor, i think you should move him somewhere other than anor londo :/.

      Hm, that's a good point. I thought it would be a fair trade off that he is the one that respawns but you have to fight him in that small space. After all you can get infinite demon titanite from him. I kept him there so you also can't kill him from too far away with magic and actually have to get into the room with him. I want the player to work for it.
      The other one isn't respawning so he doesn't get in your way when you want to farm chaos bugs.

      Btw which build are you playing and how do you like the other changes?

      Oh and don't forget to update the mod! I made some more changes for pyro damage against the 3 fire bosses.

    When i read about this mod , i thought it was about making useless items useful, but it's the contrary, it's about making useful items useless, like the Heather shield have 75% mitigation WTF?!? what's the point of this mod ?

      This is a redesign mod, not a "boost random items" mod. A starting class shield that needs 8 str and has 100% phy. dmg reduction while being the lightest 100% shield at the same time is broken OP. This is the reasoning behind general shield changes. You need to earn the advantages of the shields now. This was done so no mage could just get to 10 str and buy a shield with 100% phy. res.

      You see these changes were done so str classes have shields as their own advantage. On the contrary if you now find a rare shield it has higher resistances and greatshields were even buffed so you are benefiting more from them as an str. class. I still take your complaint seriously and since this shield is exclusive to the warrior class I have buffed it to 80% in the new version (already uploaded).

      If you dislike these specific changes then download a modding tool like "DS Map Studio" and edit the shield stats yourself or use "DS Gadget" to cheat yourself the "Black Knight Shield", it has 100% as the only small and medium shield.
