Hi! I am asking as a person who doesnt know that much about modding but cant you do this with only replacing the textures? Sadly PTDE is not available on steam so I can only do texture replacing :/ So I would appreciate the anwser :)
If you're playing a non-Steam version of PTDE and can't swap the files because you can't use UDSFM, then Drag and Drop Manager, as already suggested by Engineer137, should also do the trick. As should Wulf's BND Rebuilder and possibly other tools I haven't heard of.
If you're asking if the same effect could also be achieved by using transparent textures, that I cannot answer. I know next to nothing about modding myself.
Thanks for the anwser and thanks for letting me know that I can use DSDAD for this kind of stuff, because previously I didnt knew that you can do that, I only knew that you cannot do it with UDSFM (I mean you cannot use UDSFM with non steam version) :/ Keep up the good work, its good to see a game this old, still being active :)

Those scabbards were nothing but a visual hindrance, as we can't even use them to begin with.
