Don't have any videos, but the longer explanation on the UnpackDarkSoulsForModding git might do the trick for you. Check https://github.com/HotPocketRemix/UnpackDarkSoulsForModding
If you followed the mod instructions and unpacked it, it should be at:C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition\DATA
now I know im not one of the most intelligent people i know, but im about to make myself sound even more stupid. but could you possibly give me a really thorough and detailed walkthrough/guide on how to properly install and use this mod as well as the unpackerfordarksouls mod? ive tried my best multiple times but cant do it for the life of me
1. Make a backup of any saved games just in case. Your save games are located in your "C:\Users\[yourusername]\Documents\NBGI\DarkSouls folder. 2. Make sure to download and install DSFix and/or other .dll-based mods. 3. Download UnpackDarkSoulsForModding and place the "UnpackDarkSoulsForModding.exe" on your Dark Souls `DATA` directory. You should find that directory at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition\DATA 4. Run `UnpackDarkSoulsForModding.exe` by double-clicking on it. A command prompt window should appear, follow the instructions. Make sure you read any prompts carefully before answering. 5. Important: Do not close the window until the instructions indicate that the process has completed. 6. If you are not using a standard installation, the tool will prompt you for input if it discovers irregularities. Choosing to continue will attempt unpacking, but may crash or produce incorrect results, especially if the archive files are non-standard. For best results if this occurs, re-install / verify cache in Steam. 7. After the whole unpacking process is done, download my mod. 8. Make sure to backup the files being replaced by my mod (since you'd have to unpack again and/or ask for it to revert changes). 9. Easiest way is probably copying the downloaded files on your Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition\DATA\ folder, but instead of overwriting the originals, choose "Move but Keep both files". That way you'll have the original files and my files (with a number added to their name) at their proper location. 10. You can know change the name of the originals (personally I just change the extension name to .bak) and remove the parenthesis+number added to my mod files, so that the mod files now have the same name that the original you just renamed. 11. Now you can try it out in-game to see if it all worked.
