This single-handedly made Dark Souls go from unplayably slow and stuttery on my old laptop to enjoying a very respectable fps. The game rarely slows to a crawl for a few seconds while crossing between areas but that's it. I'm sure it won't work for everyone but this mod has been a miracle-worker for me. Endorsed :)

Doesn't help much when it runs badly on new hardware too.
Game mostly has a CPU bottleneck anyway.

came out in 2011--this was posted in 2017--which means it was only 6 years old at the time. Only now in is over 10 years old

It helped my game boosted 20 more frames but... it makes the starting menu so long it makes it 2 minutes long :(

Makes it much smoother but makes a horizontal line go up or down the screen, hard to explain, it's like on one side of the line its a couple of frames ahead

I know I'm a few years late to the party, but I've encountered missing effect textures on the DLC. For example almost all of artorias' effects are completely non-existent. Did i do something wrong or is it just missing?

Well honestly, Dark Souls 1 on pc was a very shoddy port, Ds2 is a much better, more optimized port with more graphics options. Hell, From didn't even plan to port ds1 to pc and only did it due to fans demanding it...still, DS2 does show they learned from that and let's hope ds1 remastered is more optimized.

@Lovingwolf Namco started a cash grab with settings and now you can't turn off motion blur on console version.

4gb of ram is the minimum requirement . your poor fps is almost certainly caused by the games internal resolution being set at 1024x720 (not your external resolution, if you dont understand the difference you got some reading to do). This has been solved by Durante and his DSFix 2.4. disable any other graphics settings you may have enabled prior to use and restore default settings to the game with the exception being anti-aliasing and motion blur, disable both. Dark Souls 2 is way slower in terms of gameplay.....really didnt like that one, the original creator left the team to do Bloodbourne and it resulted in ....meh . I say that because you stated your machine plays it fine but,. thats mostly due to that games internal resolution being 800x600.

To start, thanks for the effort . That being said ......Overridden textures load after original and cannot possibly get you 60fps if you werent at or near that already . What resolution are these textures intended for ? default (1024x720) ?that would be seem unlikely, particularly if u used dsfix for the dump. at 50% (512x360) depth of field becomes an issue, doesnt seem to be a way to lower that from original just raise itim intrigued even though im positive the impact cant be what is claimed nor is 60 fps even remotely necessary for a game that plays in the third person (25 is playable 30 looks and feels full speed ) If you say you get 60 fps i beleive you, dont misunderstand, i think u got a decent cpu, which in the case of the fps unlock, is key, and way easier to wrap my mind around than a magic texture pack .
