I'm Xbox one controller player.

Controls:
Important -
Go to Controls. Ignore the top tabs for now.

You directly press the spaces under the "Controller column".
Rebinding sticks is a little tricky in this game.

Press what you want to rebind,
Press it. Then a Timer count begins,
Don't press anything when this timer is active.
Wait till it finished.

So you will see the far left Column will have the Actions definitions.
And at the top of that list
for the sticks you will see: "Horizontal" And Vertical"
(These two Actions, will automatically apply the opposite movement.
So if you bind Horizontal , you just move the stick left, and it will bind the right also automatically. Same for the Vertical option.

Below those , you can bind up down, left right specifically manually each to be thorough. Same difference).
Those "manual options are called" (Horizontal: "move right, move left".
Vertical: has Down/Crouch, and Up.)

So you'd press the Controller Column space.
In this case you want to use the "left stick to walk".
So press Horizontal,
you move the left stick , specifically left or, right direction (X axis).
But up or down for Vertical (Y axis) to apply.
To repeat
So, with left stick, when the timer is done, move the stick specifically once up or down
for the (Y axis). Again you font need to press both up down,
unless you are using the manual options. I mentioned before.

Press the Recycle symbol which means to Invert a stick,
So that when you move the stick down your guy crouches for (Y axis).
Don't use Invert-recycle symbol for (X axis)
or else when you press right, it will go left. etc

Remember after the Timer is Finished do that.
It will tell you, if its being used. Replace it.

Note the far left column of Actions definitions.

The Recycle symbols means, to flip inverted.

(So, you will need some Trial and Error before
you get the sticks right. If all else fails,
press "Restore Defaults" tab, an try again.)

I'd put the walk stick to the left side.
Because you'd not want to take your
thumb or finger away from movement
just to press buttons. So, swap sticks.

Jump = Right_bumper or A.
Roll reload = Right bumper or A.
(I recommend Roll to be A. Maybe.
Still thinking about that.)

Range attack shoot = Right_trigger,
Throw bomb/turret = B,

Hit stays = X.
Drone ability maybe = Left_Trigger or Left_bumper?

Use faction Abilities like lightening etc Maybe Y.

Changing the mix of abilities/Utilities the D-pad,
Or experiment with the right_stick for selecting.
I only played a little bit, so drone does not move a lot.
So no loss there.

So that maybe leaves you with :
Empty Left_Trigger or
Empty Left_Bumper,
Pause or Select button.
And if you got, stick center buttons-
I never use , because it can cause stick-drift.

Can try, to bind Perry,
to the empty unbound buttons.
But the Perry does not work well.
So have not used it.

You might notice on Controls page:
[Settings 1 and Settings 2 tabs],
Just above the Actions column.
Those are more game actions you can rebind.

In Game-play options set run-always-active.
I never noticed a walk anyway.

The dead-zones may need to adjust too.

So this was my base recommendations.
Then you can work on refining from here up.

Sorry if I forgot something.

Hope that helps!
