This mod adds a brand new Hero to the Darkest Dungeon, called the Mender. She is a support-based hero that specializes in healing, able restore ally health and stress, cure all DoTs and debuffs, a stun skill, a damage skill that applies blight, and an enemy mark skill. For camp she can cure diseases, cure mortality, prevent ambush, and stress heal.

-An issue has been brought up with the names being too similar to the provisions, so some adjustments have been made. They’re called the same in the notes for clarity’s sake, but from this point on they’re named slightly differently
Skills
“Medicinal Herbs” (Medicinal Blend)
Removed Disease resist
Made Debuff clear chance based (20% at level 0 to 80% at max)
-This change was made for two main reasons. One was that the skill still wasn’t quite balanced, but an equally big thing was the disease resist buff made a poor justification to buy it in the Guild. This change should keep the debuff clear from being too all-powerful, and make it a viable upgrade in the guild.
“Bandage” (Treated Bandage)
Healing reduced by 1-1
-Basically the change made last time to reverse this was re-reversed. More in the next skill.
Curative Gas
Healing reduced down a “tier”
-Harder to describe than for Bandage, but the basic idea is that the max healing potential for both healing moves is one lower than the Vestal’s. The idea here is that since the Mender’s a lot more versatile support-wise, her healing ability is at base less effective than the Vestal’s to compensate.
Sling Shot
Reduced damage to -75%
-Just meant to make it more in-line with Dazzling Light. Technically less effective without the torch buff but stun capability is the same
Diagnose
Reduced dodge debuff to -10 through -15
-I totally didn’t forget to change this and said I did, I have no clue what you’re talking about
-Jokes aside, main reason for this is just to mitigate the utility a bit on the Mender. Still a mark after all, dodge debuff is just there as a little bonus
Trinket
Moss Treatment
Removed debuff resistance
Removed dodge debuff
Now functions as a clone of the Chirurgeons charm
General
Removed custom tooltips
-An odd glitch occurred where the Clear Horror and Clear Debuff showed up as blue strings in one case. However with the Butcher’s Circus update these strings should be in place. The tooltips would normally be kept, but a glitch keeps occurring that doubles the tooltip line, and the debuff chance rework would work better if the real tooltip were just kept. Hopefully the string glitch doesn’t happen too often
Version 1.6
Lots of changes here, every skill and almost every trinket has been adjusted to some degree. The main purpose of this update is to nerf the Mender to be taken down a peg, and to remove some weird aspects.
SKILLS:
Medicinal Herbs
Removed healing
Added disease resist buff
Ultimately, the reason for this is that adding a debuff clear on a battlefield medicine equivalent was just too strong. However, the goal is to be able to keep a clear dot effect and clear debuff effect as available options, so to nerf the move it can no longer heal and thus safeguard against death’s door.
Instead of working really well at death’s door prevention, Medicinal Herbs differs from Battlefield Medicine by doing well at solving DoT and Debuff combo skills
Also the disease resist buff is there for something to progress when upgrading in the guild
Sling Shot
Fixed an oversight where the level 0 skill could target rank 4
Fixed its sound effect not working
Toxic Shot
Now only targets enemy ranks 1, 2, or 3
Crit progression fixed (now increases correctly)
Blight damage bumped up to 3
Damage modifier reduced to -65%
Original intention was to be used as main source of damage, but Sling Shot now fills this role better
Now functions as a standard blight attack
Laudanum
Stress resist buff removed
Reduced stress heal to 5
The reduced stress healing is intended to make the move more of a horror-clearer with some stress healing as a bonus
Bandage
Buffed back to standard Vestal healing (basically increased by 1 point)
Diagnose
Remove unstealth
Increased DODGE debuff to -15
Basically, now just a standard mark
TRINKETS
Heavy Ammunition
Sling Shot DMG buff increased to +100%
Added +25% DMG against marked
Stun skill chance buff reduced to -25% (75% Stun Skill chance at level 0)
Added Sling Shot: -5 ACC penalty
Removed DODGE penalty
Originally this update overhauled the stun into a damage skill with a minor stun chance, akin to the Abomination’s human stun skill, and this trinket would reverse it to a standard stun
Instead, the situation is reversed: The skill’s a standard stun, while this trinket fully upends the move into one that’s focused on damage.
Moss Treatment
Lowered healing to 15%
Changed disease resist to debuff resist
With these additions, the trinket now essentially acts as a combination of the Debuff Amulet and Chirurgeons Charm
Slime Treatment
Increased healing to 25%
DODGE buff reversed into -15 DODGE
Now acts as an equivalent to Vestal’s Holy Tome of Healing, but with DODGE traded for HP because of the Mender’s defenses being inverted compared to Vestal.
Honey Treatment
Reduced healing buff to 10%
Increased stress skills buff to 25%
Removed DMG and ACC debuffs
Added -15% Stun skill chance
Added -25% Blight skill chance
Now allows for focus on stress healing while sacrificing the utility of the offense moves
Web Treatment
A new (Rare) trinket!
+33% Healing
-10 ACC
+10% Stress
Honey treatment sounds the best for buffing stress healing (honey’s gotta taste good in Laudanum, right?), but that means there wouldn’t really be a strong healing option, so this trinket was added to rectify that
Attuned Crystal
Laudanum in inventory buff changed
Removed healing buff
Removed stress resist
Increased stress heal buff to 25%
Focuses fully on stress healing
Medicinal Herbs buff changed
Removed disease resist buff
Not super useful, may as well clear the description clutter
Crimson Court Set
Apothecary’s Cap
Removed stress skills buff
Follows Vestal standard, 25% healing can go without a downside if the second effect is fairly minor
Ban List
Removed DMG buff
Removed Stun buff
Added +10 ACC
Increased stress penalty to -15%
Set Bonus
Changed to +3 SPD
Deathblow resist, didn’t fit too well before.
The SPD is here to represent a sort of mastery, as she’s now much more efficient and adept at the job she had finally secured
Also makes up for the offense focus of the ban list if you go for a support role
CAMPING
Cure
Cost increased to 6
Check-Up
Cost increased to 6
GENERAL
Reduced movement to 1 backwards and 1 forwards
Fixed trinket image white border issue
Updated mod page descriptions
Version 1.5
-Fixed Clear Debuff and Clear Horror tooltip buffs from appearing
-Fixed Clear Debuff and Clear Horror being labelled as buffs
-Fixed several minor visual errors
Version 1.4
-Fixed bug where the “Clear Debuff,” “Clear Horror”, and “Has Antivenom in inventory” buffs would either display as blue strings or possibly flicker if other mods added the strings themselves. They should no longer cause conflicts
-Medicinal Herbs no longer grants a debuff resist buff (thought this was already removed in the past, but now it's finalized)
-Diagnose’s DODGE debuff has -3 less DODGE, to account for unstealth (since its otherwise identical to the Occultist’s mark/debuff ability)
-Overall hp was lowered by 3 and dodge increased by 5 (for some reason 5 DODGE was already there). Now her defenses match the Houndmaster, and compared to the Vestal is less tanky but dodgier

Lore
The Mender is a travelling apothecary, someone who travels from village to village healing the sick and wounded. In the superstitious countryside, a woman brewing concoctions was seen with suspicion, resulting in the Mender being labelled a witch. Her reputation was tarnished and she could find no more safety in the countryside, lest she give up the vocation she worked so dearly for. But whether by merciful blessing or cruel twist of fate, the Mender discovered the Hamlet. The land infected by eldritch forces and corruption was much more tolerant of suspicious newcomers. Her vague reputation as a witch meant little compared to the eldritch-touched heroes that were allowed to roam. Out of options, but with renewed hope and slight desire for gold and glory, she became a soldier of the war against evil and corruption, and became an apothecary of the Hamlet.
Conclusion
If you’re reading this, thank you for taking a look at my mod! It’s my first mod made for Darkest Dungeon, and generally the first piece of content I’ve ever really made. I hope you enjoy the mod if you choose to subscribe, and feel free to give any criticisms. I’m open to change things. This was a cool project to work on, and I’m planning on making at least another hero or two in the future. My next plan is going to be developing a much more interesting hero. This one was fairly tame, mostly for learning the ropes, but the next one will be much more combat-oriented and will definitely start toying with mechanics not seen in the vanilla game. No promises yet though! It’s questionable! Very exciting when it comes to Darkest Dungeon, considering things are a bit inflexible. Fun fact, this hero was actually going to have a mechanic where her trinkets would make her healing moves apply different buffs based (such as the bandage move applying a small bleed/blight resist buff). Unfortunately it’s not possible, but hey, you never know with Darkest Dungeon 2… Anyway, that’s enough rambling. Thank you to the Moonlit Dungeon and Darkest Dungeon discord servers for helping me figure this all out, and thanks to my friends and family for supporting me doing this whole project. And thank you too, reader, for taking the time to read this. I hope you have a wonderful day, and take care.
