Renters delinquent on their payments. Renters who go missing. Squatters in your properties. Finding ways to increase property value to sell it back (House Flipping!)
Many such ideas.
Edit: Didn't intend that to be a reply to your comment but... hey it fits.
-Property taxation, whether you are renting the house or not, you have to pay taxes for the property. -A chance for the rented property to suffer damages (With random repair costs). -After a few years, the house must be repaired, or your rent value would be reduced.
"Squatters in your properties." "Renters delinquent on their payments." And you could deal with the problem yourself, or pay mercenaries to take automatically solve the problem.
"Renters who go missing." Which could reduce the value of the rent temporarily.
Properties having temporary issues that you can fix as quests is something that could be fun, but even if you decide not to complete the quest, it will get resolved by another guild after sometime. I don't want having properties to become a burden on richer players as the property count increases. Quests are something I haven't fiddled with so far, so if I get around to adding this, it will be in later patches. I will likely implement house quality/status before this, as it would effect how often some quests get triggered.
Taxation might be included in the next patch. While not released, I've added the ability to buy palaces after buying a certain percentage of the houses in a city. Buying the palace could remove the taxes in that city, along with some other benefits. Complexity of this system will be limited by the UI work and user friendliness though.
I LOVE this mod. It's something I've been waiting on for awhile now. One small issue however. Not a bug or a conflict or anything. So im running Bank Overhaul, and it's kinda not worth buying a house when I can leave the same amount of money and get a ton more per month.
I'm glad you are enjoying the mod I'm considering adding incentives other than gold to invest in properties, but we'll see if I ever get around to doing it.
Honestly, for Bank Overhaul one must adjust the values, because otherwise it is extremely overpowered. It is better for the economy mods (Specially passive ones), to give lower benefits, or one ends up again with the same problem, too much money.
Cool mod, like having something worth spending my mountains of coin on. Would it be possible to add in a house quality display to the buying screen, either for buying rentals and/or personal homes?
Is there a way to make it possible to also 'remove' the residents of already-owned properties to make them available for purchase and rent? I could recreate my Fable Rentpire in Daggerfall with a feature like that.
Eviction should be possible, but I try to keep this mod as compatible as possible with other mods and current gameplay systems/quests. Removing residents could cause issues I can't foresee, so not planned at the moment.
But you can buy owned properties anyway, previous owners just become your tenants
