I have a sticking bug where if I buy a wagon & go outside, the horse despawns after a secound & the game tells me I have no horse. I used "Faithful 3D Animals","Handpainted model replacements" & "3D Enemies of at Daggerfall" (I doubt it's this one). It worked just fine. However once I disabled these 3D mods, it became bugged. I tried reenabling the mods & it still doesn't work. Can you help? What do you suggest I do? Will I have to reinstall Daggerfall Unity & all of my mods all over again to use this mod?
Most likely you will have to start a new game or at least load a save file before all that 3D stuff was installed. Such global overhauls are risky to experiment with, you are either keep it for the whole playthrough or if you are not sure to stick to them, keep some clean save files.
I've been running a whole new save each time I tested it. I've now even tried disabling all other mods & running the Wagon mod on its own & it's still broken but worked before I disabled the 3D mod. I've even tried reinstalling the mods & deleting the Settings files.
Likely this is caused by leftover mod data in the save folder. Try opening the actual folder with the saves and delete the savegames you are using to clear out any buggy data.
@Ralzar No it's not. I wish that was all it was. I've tried on multiple saves. I've not even started playing Daggerfall properly yet & keep replaying the start to test the game. I've now even deleted the game & installed a modpack (with 3D horse disabled) & again it's not working. Do I need to buy the Horse first then the Wagon? (which obviously makes sense) However, I didn't need to do that just before. Perhaps I had an issue before that I'm not having now? It's gonna be a real fucker trying to test that & make me feel dumb if it works (but I'll be glad).
This mod desperately needs an extension to bring your horse and wagon back to you for a fee. I understand there's console commands to do it but in the spirit of immersion there should be a "pickup and deliver" paid service you can utilise in-game to have your horse and cart brought back to you if you somehow leave without it or get teleported against your will somewhere.
Sounds like a great idea. Perhaps there could be small chance of additional wealth getting "lost" as it's taken back to you aswell. It'd be interesting if it took actual time in the game to arrive in the location too. This'd put the player in situations where they have to travel on foot, for instance if they have to complete a quest quickly. They will be forced to travel on foot rather then wait, then have to travel to the settlement/stables that they've called the wagon to be stationed at. A personal idea of mine would be a similar spell to recall, but for the Horse & more costly. There could also be a map marker displaying where the horse's location is currently at, so that it's never truly lost.
Are you not supposed to be able to sell your wagon after you buy it or do I have something conflicting here? I have Realistic Wagons loading very high in the order and I can't think of anything that would cause this. Always sells for 0 and is right outside the shop when I leave. Also the wagon is still acting like a bag of holding but only indoors (as in my cart is across town), outside I can't access it unless I interact with it.
Reading all these replies is unfortunate. This mod is a great idea and is the best solution for the weird horses of DF, but it also seems too buggy for a full playthrough. People losing horses, getting bugged with vanilla quests, can't sell cart. Damn.
If you lost you wagon, you can buy a new one. It is a bit buggy, but usually game will offer you to give up on your former wagon, then it will vanish. But sometimes it won't, and then your old wagon will become just another usual non-player wagon in the game world... So, it is still not that bad. I'd say it is even rather realistic. Your wagon isn't guarded at all, so if it's lost consider it stolen by thieves. Bad luck. And if you are careful and on guard, this will not happen too often, anyway. Just sell your stuff timely, keep money in a bank deposit and be careful to store the most important stuff in player character's home, for example.
You can also buy a second horse that will replace the first one, apparently the former horse will vanish too, but I'm not too sure.
So, it isn't "too buggy for a full playthrough". Game is perfectly playable with this mod, although it is not the most comfortable experience. However, this mod works very badly with Things Betwixt.
The sugar lumps don't bring your wagon along with your horse. Is it possible to make a check to see if your horse is close enough to your wagon when you use the lumps and if it is then it teleports the wagon along with the horse as well? Currently I never use the sugar lumps because of this.
I really love this mod, because it makes the horse to feel alive and real.
However, I've found a funny incompatibility with the "Things Betwixt" mod. When fast travel is interrupted, the chances of losing your mount are almost 100%. I tried to "game the algorithm" jumping on my horse before resuming fast travel. However, it does not seem to work. I have had alredy 4 "Roaches", like Geralt of Rivia.
Do you think is there any way to solve this?
Thanks in advance. Thank you very much for your hard work. :)
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of using the console, as I'm trying to roleplay my way through the game and that's a very immersion-breaking thing to do.However, if that's the only way to save Roach, I'll take it into account!
So, is there any way to unhitch the wagon if you are using Travel Options? I can't seem to work out how to unhitch the wagon, and my travel screen does not have a "horse" button.
By accident I worked out that pressing "X" unhitches the cart, so that's great. However, once unhitched I can't dismount the horse anymore, I used to press the "Dodge" button from another mod and that dismounts when I'm hitched. There's obviously hotkeys built in to do these things, it would be nice to know what they are.
EDIT: Well, "X" stopped working for unhitching now. No idea why. I didn't change anything. The hotkeys obviously have to exist, if anyone knows what they are that would be nice to know.
Okay, disregard my whole thread here. I'm a bit of an idiot, and thought everyone meant the travel map key, but finally noticed in the keybinds the "Transport" key.
So I'm not sure if this mod is still being updated but I found a weird bug. Pretty much terrain by World of Daggerfall in mountainous regions sometimes has some overlap. Mountainous region generation can be a bit weird. That causes the horse to snap to the lowest point which is often under the regular map. I'm assuming there is some logic when you get off the horse to place the horse down. Not really your problem to fix but I thought I'd mention it for others. Simply type horse_rescue and don't move after, it should be behind you and click on it quickly. Otherwise you can rescue the horse and wagon at a town and it should be all good in my experience.
I enjoy very much dropping the wagon when I'm being chased and the mobs have to either climb it or go around. Also looks awesome when I use it for cover so I can fire arrows!
However that there is a quest the developer might want to look into. With the mod this quest sends your wagon to the dungeon with you. Got message "You don't have a horse to pull this carriage" right after the teleport part in the dungeon, logically it was not where I left it in the city either.
Disabling the mod and enabling again got me my carriage back, though not my horse. Sugarlumps gave me the message "You don't own a horse". Easily resolvable with buying a new horse.
Endorsing because it's a really cool mod that I've seen YouTubers use often. I've tried it myself and love having your horse and wagon waiting for you outside of a shop, but I have it disabled until some settings are added to turn off, or modify, certain features (like wagon damage, wagon returning with horse, etc.).
Keep up the good work and I look forward to any future updates!
Edit: Couldn't help it. Reactivated the mod and just use the console command "wagon_rescue" now. Worth it.
