Hello. I was giving your mod a try and noticed some incompatibilities with the necromancer class mod. With it, some of the answers to some of the questions do not register correctly in the character sheet, showing instead their variables (IE toth$% etc). Also, their statistical bonuses are not applied correctly. Everything returned to normal upon restoring the BIOGs with the standard fixes mod and creating a new character.
This mod is *soft* incompatible with Classes Expanded. I say soft incompatable because it still works, you'll just get some odd behaviour, particularly when trying to build the nord in the compendium- it'll pick up the Courtesan's BIOGs, probably because both are nonmagical thief characters.
My Setup here having Classes Redone, Classes Expanded, and your mod, in that load order. I managed to correct it by re-installing the biog files, then disabling Classes Expanded during character creation. It's not a big problem, I just thought i'd leave this here for anyone with the same issue.
This is a *really* fun mod, and I enjoyed the PDF build compendium a lot- It really grabs the "Immersive fantasy life sim" aspects that daggerfall was intended to provide.
Can't seem to get this to work. When I overwrite the Background Fixes BIOGs, in-game the background questions screen becomes blank and I can't continue character creation. Tried overwriting with and without the optional Language Skills BIOGs provided with Background Fixes before installing this, same result either way.
Hm, that’s odd. You’re not overwriting mid character creation are you? You’re restarting Daggerfall after overwriting the BIOGs and then trying to start a new character? A few ideas on troubleshooting:
1) Verify that all works well without this mod but with the requirements installed. That means it’s not a problem with the background and history fixes.
2) Then overwrite with my mod. Select a vanilla character, for example start with BIOG 00 = mage. Go through the vanilla classes and see if any of them work with my mod.
If one of the BIOGs work and another one doesn’t, it’s highly likely that I’ve messed up somewhere. Then it would help immensly to know which classes work for you and which don’t.
I think I found the problem. As I was tidying up and packaging the mod, I removed some blank spaces (which I thought were just there due to intensive copy/pasting) in the BIOGs. Turns out one blank space line after the last question is not enough and causes the whole thing to just not work. There should be three blank spaces. New and corrected BIOGs uploaded and should hopefully work as intended now!
While it uploads I've got a question about the installation. Background History and Fixes comes with an "Alternate BIOGs for use with Language Overhaul" folder. Is this required for your mod, or does your mod not require these files?
(I tried both and neither worked, but now that you're fixing it I don't want to feed you false info by actually installing it wrong on my end lol)
Edit: It works! I used those alternate BIOGs from Background History, you should list that as a requirement in the install section so people don't get confused (Unless this mod also does the same thing, then oh well)
Glad to hear that it works. Short answer: The LSO specific backgrounds are not necessary, as they will be overwritten again by this mod regardless. Longer answer: As far as the BIOGs are concerned, the only difference with LSO is that some language skills are renamed. In vanilla (including Harbinger's corrected vanilla versions), not all BIOGs have language-related background questions, so his LSO alternative simply updates BIOG terminology in the ones that do. In my mod, all BIOGs have Question 8 as a language skill question, and hence overwrite all the vanilla backgrounds anyway.
