I discovered that the pre-identified option only seem to not work because the Frequency function behaves differently than expected. I am guessing the unidentified scrolls break because it's not supposed to be to usable as an item when pre-identified mode is on. By this I mean that it's supposed to be a placeholder for a non-existent scroll, so in my understanding: Frequency multipler = "Non-empty scroll spawn rate".
The scroll appearance frequency is kinda janky with certain options but this mod is usable for sure. All in all ~ Good work. :)
Spell scrolls bought from shops are pre-identified. A scroll needn't be identified to be cast, however you won't know what spell you're about to send off ;)
There's an option in the Settings that allows scrolls to be identified, but that affects all sources of scrolls, right? I have that option unchecked, but shops still sell mysterious scrolls to me.
It sits in my inventory the exact same way until I attempt to use it, then it just something like "You must identify this to copy it to your Spellbook", then it becomes a magic item with "unknown powers". If I attempt to use it as a magic item, it just breaks.
Also, would it be possible to create your own one-use scrolls, by using parchment or something while you have a spell equipped? Maybe casting said spell on the parchment while it's on the ground as a loot pile or something? That would be a neat way of saving magic points and preparing for a difficult dungeon, or special needs, like Levitation.
I think being able to write spells for later is a fantastic idea but only if the costs are higher to make up for the utility. For example: Not only would it cost parchment and ink but also somewhat more than the mana cost of normally casting and some fatigue. This way yes you can prepare ahead of time but you likely need to spend a day doing so. This will create some moments like adventuring downtime at home or in the guild that makes for great gameplay.
The fatigue cost is a good idea, and the increased mana cost is fine as balancing mechanic, but if it's too high then making the scroll in the first place is pointless. A small increase (maybe +10 or less mana cost) should be fine though.
I got the same problem. Regardless of my spellscroll mod settings, i can not buy pre-identified scrolls from vendors (same as in the picture above). i always only get a normal spell scroll, once bought for 1000G, when using it then in my inv, it tells me the scroll needs to be identified and then it shows as magical item and moves to the magic section. I am using DFU 1.1.1 with DREAM. Is this a bug ? because it would be great to see, what scroll i am actually buying from vendors, otherwise it would be a "surprise-scroll" ;-) In dungeons it's totally fine, if you could find scrolls, that need to get identified first, there it makes total sense.
Apart from that this mod is great, because it gives a non magic chars the possibility to use spells
EDIT: I just went to every vendor in Daggerfall, the only Scrolls that are shown for sale and are pre-identified are "Free action" and "Frostbite" all other scrolls are not identified. I moved Spell Scrolls mod now further down in the loadorder, (Under dream) but this didn't help, i also did a reset of the mod and a refresh, also no change. I've disabled Roleplay&Realism, because i thought, this mightt tinker with it -nada, no change-
Hi, unfortunately not as they count as magic items, only the mages guild and thieves guild will buy them I believe. I'm planning to see if I can fix this in a later update
This may be the very thing Daggerfall was missing. It's been bothering me that spells have been exclusive to the Mage's Guild, with the exception of the Kynareth spellmaker.

can't we sell the scrolls to anyone?
could we have a changelog for each new version you post, please?
Very interesting mod by the way.
