I'm having trouble finding Bard Guilds in other regions, like Anticlere.
With Archeologists Guild, the mod gives you a book to help you find locations, and the Red Lantern seems to show up in every city with a circle of shops. With the Bard's Guild, they don't seem to be showing up in most places I visit and it seems to me there aren't enough of them. However, I really could just use a tool to help me find where they are.
For vanilla shops/factions, the player can ask NPCs if there's any in the local region and I use this a lot when I'm in an unfamiliar region. I'm not sure why, but mod added guilds don't seem to show up in this dialogue option and this could really remedy my situation.
Are you using Beautiful Cities? If so, did you install the patch Bards And Balladeers Beautiful Cities Patch v1.0 that can be found in optional files under the Files tab?
So, like I said, you must install the patch Bards And Balladeers Beautiful Cities Patch v1.0 that can be found in optional files under the Files tab and bards guilds will be back.
If it's any help, you're looking for the particular Fighters Guild town/city block like the one in the images/banner above ... just that Fighters Guild block though, not the others.
Weird bug seems to be happening to me in regards to the reputation gains/losses - whenever the "Play for a Tavern" quest finally finishes, my reputation with The Merchants gets set to -26, regardless of where it was before. It was at a solid 100(!) during my last play session, but reverted to -26 after doing a couple Bards quests today.
Not a huge deal, since I can go into the faction file and fix the number, but still odd. I assume it's supposed to subtract 26?
(If this comment shows up twice, my apologies - Nexus seems to be very wonky for me today lmao)
After a fully successful performance your rep with various local factions (including the merchants) should go up by +20 ... then after a few days it should go back down by -18, so your rep has gone up by +2 in the long run. Less than fully successful performances (even disastrous ones) don't affect your rep at all.
I checked all the perform at tavern quest files and the rep bonuses and penalties seem to be correct. Are you sure it's this mod that's doing it? That'd be a lot of rep to lose in one go though, whatever caused it... you didn't commit a serious crime or anything did you?
It's possible it's something else, but it only seems to happen when the quests end (or at least, that's what I've noticed so far, anyway). The *legal* rep is working as intended, at least - I got to Admired after a successful performance, and then a few days later I noticed it had gone back down to Respected.
It's certainly possible another mod is causing it (god knows I've got a whole cocktail, lmao), but if that's the case, I'm not really sure what it could be. I don't think I have any other mods that would affect reputation that way... maybe it's one of the quest-packs? I dunno.
Several of the quest are unstartable, the quest giver for the guild just flat out won't give them to you. Like, I choose the "find a legendary lost ballad" quest and he says stuff like "I had work, but I hired the fighters guild to do it" or "The situation resolved it self, thanks anyway" every single time.
In general, this also happens for some quests in another mod I use. (Archaeologists Guild) Some quests, you just keep getting those messages and cannot do any of said quests.
It might be to do with the region you are in, the smaller ones don't always have the correct dungeon types for the quest to parse so you get those types of messages ... but if it's happening across the board, I'll have to take a look at the quest files and see if I can figure it out.
Seems the use of the unused asset/NPC - The Fey - is the problem here. I'm gonna try and fix it, but I may have to end up removing The Fey from the quest and use a generic NPC, and then it should work. I'll see if I can sort it one way or another and will post an update soon.
Just uploaded a fix for this quest ... Bards And Balladeers v1.3a Quest Patch: Let it overwrite the main v1.3 quest pack. Just replaces that one quest. NB v1.3 dfmod and quest pack should be installed first and IS required!
Greetings and hello. Love these quests thank you. Just started playing Daggerfall Unity last night, but have already found an issue with one of the first performance jobs. When going to The King's Fairy of Daggerfall, I am supposed to speak with Bedynak Yeoming to start my performance, but that NPC is nowhere in the tavern. Not sure if there is a load issue or what. I have done a handful of other performances and the minstrel is always there to talk to. Hope this can be fixed. Not sure what not finishing a quest will do, hopefully no ballads of my laziness or ineptitude will be written about me.
Unfortunately this is a longstanding bug in the quest system in which quest NPCs do not appear ... it was most usually caused by a mod called Taverns Redone which rejigged a lot of the taverns but messed up placing the quest markers where NPCs will spawn so, if you are using that mod, I suggest you remove it or accept the NPCs will not be findable ... it's not the end of the world though, a failed quest (it'll time out in a few days) loses a small amount of rep with the guild but you can soon gain it back.
Thank you for the quick response! Ahh ok very good then. Thought I was doing something wrong or missing something. I do indeed have Taverns Redone installed. I will see exactly what it does and decide on ditching it or not. If its just a small rep drop if I can't find the minstrel, that's not so bad, Bards can be a finicky lot, maybe too much ale or wenching and the meetup was missed. I can just chalk it up to wrong place wrong time.
First of all, very nice mod. I can’t wait to try it out as an actual bard!
but here is the thing, I’m encountering a problem in which the guild sign posts(the wooden stick with the guild logo on a plank, outside the guild) is seemingly missing textures, and it appears entirely pink. Anyone else face this?
I ran into the the same issue on macOS with both this mod and with the Red Lanter Guild mod.
If one uses DREAM then one can move the Dream - Textures part of DREAMS, below the Bards And Balladeers mod in the load/install order, so that the DREAMS replacer texture gets used instead. This makes things work on macOS as DREAM has macOS/Windows/Linux support.
I'm looking forward to becoming a bard and do some quests for the guild but the first building I found in Dragontail Mountains eastern region has no name, the NPCs talk with null-strings when they are referring their guild and no one will let me join the guild, give me quests or else. Only thing I noticed is the strong dislike to The Red Lantern guild which I joined previously. But I don't think this is causing the issue. Transparent Window mod is already disabled because I read in the posts that this can help, but I'm still experiencing the same issues.
This sounds like a load order issue, so try placing Bards And Balladeers at the end/bottom of your list ... or near the top if that doesn't work. Also, if you're using the Leave Guild mod, there is an incompatibility there - you may have to disable it until you've joined the Bards Guild, and then enable it again after.
I'd like to report a bug with the quest: A bard's lost treasure.
After performing in the Bard's place, he asks if I could help him with another matter. When I agree it gives me dialogue as though I failed the quest. But then proceeds to describe what he needs. At this point the quest vanishes from my journal, and though the thief of his lost item spawns at the place indicated they just give normal dialogue upon interaction.
Edit: After further testing I discovered that if you sing on the bard's behalf and then say no to the second part of the quest, the Guild Hall quest giver won't speak to you. There's nothing about the incident in finished quests either. If that helps.
I think I may have spotted some things that have contributed to your problems with this quest. I've corrected them and they will be in the next update (version 1.2) coming soon. Your last edit, though, may be an unavoidable function of the quest system ... if you have a successful performance you get certain boosts to your rep that last one to two days, so the quest giver won't talk to you again till that time has past and the quest actually ends - and you should get a note in the finished quests part of your journal then too.
Just tried the new version. The bug remains the same but I updated in the middle of a playthrough. I probably won't get the chance to try it on a new game until tommorow. Will report back then.
I have bad news friend. I just blitzed a brand new game where I went to Grimsfort before going to Daggerfall to try the quest and the same thing happened. The quest fails when you click yes to accept the bard's request to help find the stolen ballad.
Just had a quick look at the quest file and yeah, looks like I forgot to put in a task that reveals the dungeon location on your map. Sorry about that. I'll be putting out an update shortly so I'll add that fix to it.

got the latest version they had just several days ago.
Thanks much.
