Doing the quest Barenziah's Book but the book isn't there. I thought maybe I already had it because I had a copy of the "same" book on my ship but supposedly Daggerfall Unity won't allow you to remove a quest item so it's probably a non-quest copy. Neither Barenziah or Gortog will speak to me. Tried using the console to add "Chapter6" to my inventory to no avail. *edit* After downloading the extra console commands mod, it looks like maybe I already did the quest but it didn't clear itself from my log?
Hello! What a lovely little helpful mate D you made for some Daggerfall beginners! I was wondering if you could also take the timers from all the guilds and temples side quests too = ]
I think there is a reason why almost every quest has a timer. Attended the number of quest you can potentially collect (litterally thousands at the same time and attended Daggerfall has a pretty fragile quest system, it wouldn't be wise to pile them up. Moreover, the file QuestData.txt file in your save directory is in json format (versus binary) an could grow beyond reason if bloated, potentially leading to a bricked save game.
It's not really hard to figure out, you just back-engineer what you did to install it. Remove the following files from the StreamingAssets/Quests folder:
Then replace them with the originals which I would hope that you have a backup of. You should be able to just pull those files directly from the DFU install file. Hope that helps.
Edited: It jumbled the file list so I fixed it. I hope.
hi, do I need to enter any special console commands to start quests or anything when I'm just updating the mod for an existing playthrough? Or just drop the files in and select 'replace'
If a task contains "start timer" and/or "stop timer" and they are associated with a task that includes "end quest" The simplest way is to first find the "=AAA_ Days" field then Delete it similar keywords. Clock _AAA_ 00:00 0 flag 17 range 1 2 _BBB_ Tack:start timer _AAA_ _CCC_ Tack:stop timer _AAA_
I believe the OP said "still no android port so dosbox it is" which would lend one to believe they would like to use DFU, but can't due to it being unavailable on Android. Happy to help!
a version of daggerfall unity offered by GOG, the version of daggerfall unity is severely outdated and it's the root cause of many modding problems, since everything offered by the cut is free it's recommended to do it all by yourself to avoid incompatibility

thanks for making this!!
I would like to remove other quest timers as well, so I wanted to know how you did it.
The simplest way is to first find the "=AAA_ Days" field then Delete it similar keywords.
Clock _AAA_ 00:00 0 flag 17 range 1 2
_BBB_ Tack:
start timer _AAA_
_CCC_ Tack:
stop timer _AAA_
_AAA_ Task:
end quest
As a new player I really don't want to feel pressured to beat the main quest, fine with side quests being timed
