    IMPORTANT:

    Some people have reported a problem getting Classes Expanded working - it freezes/crashes straight after character creation when one of the new classes is picked. After much trial and error, I've discovered that this mod requires the Roleplay & Realism - Items mod. Specifically, the option "Skill Based Starting Equipment" MUST be enabled!

    It must be something to do with when the game allocates items at the end of character creation, it isn't expecting the new classes and doesn't know what to do with them and crashes/freezes. Somehow Roleplay Realism - Items overrides this mechanic with it's own script, and that means there is no crash... or something. I don't know tbh, BUT IT WORKS!

    RECOMMEND LOAD ORDER FOR THIS AND RELATED MODS:

    Background Question And History Fixes
    Classes Redone
    Classes Expanded
    Roleplay & Realism
    Roleplay & Realism - Items
    Daggerfall Enemy Expansion
    Language Skills Overhaul

    If that fails you may have to experiment a little ... but first please ensure you have installed the top three mods correctly by referring to the mod description pages.

    Hey I did all the required steps after installing this, following the LO as well but I am getting the <Localetextnotfound> thingy. When I double click on it, I can see the class name. I'm also not using the "Expanded Shop and Tavern Names" mod. Do you have any idea what could be causing this? I'll post my modlist below;

    Hello, I am sorry if this problem has been explained already, I am using daggerfall unity on mac os And I copied and pasted and replaced the files from the mods "Classes redone", "Classes expanded" and the background questions fix mod. I can't say for sure if classes redone and the background question mod worked but I can say for sure that Classes expanded isn't working. The new classes do show up but nothing happens when I click them. I did enabled the skill based starting equipement option in roleplay and realism:items. It would be great if someone could help. Anyways thanks for those wonderful mods.

      Did you follow the recommended load order in the sticky post above? And are you sure you installed everything correctly?

      So ... you click on one of the new classes, but nothing happens, and the class names are being displayed okay? Hmm, that's a tricky one. You don't have any other class mods installed do you?

      Okay I have a new problem... when I click one of the new classes and then choose if I want to answer the background questions or do it automatically it goes back to the screen where you choose your race. sorry for bothering again.

      Someone reported a similar problem to this a while back in the comments below ... they fixed it by reinstalling Background Questions And History Fixes, so please check you have installed that correctly too.

      Could also be a problem with the BIOG files from this mod ... are you sure you put them into the StreamingAssets/BIOGs folder.

      Also, If you're using the Language Skills Overhaul mod, did you install the main version of this Classes Expanded mod first before installing the alternate Language Skills Overhaul compatible dfmod and BIOG files for use with that mod? Because you need to do that first.

      The BIOG files go in the BIOGs folder in SteamingAssets ... not the Mods folder in StreamingAssets.

      Oh yeah sorry that's what I meant... Sorry I'm having troubles with this I totally get it if you don't want to have to handle this... I did reinstall background question fixes, by copying the files to use with language skills overhaul and I still have the same problem.

      You did paste in the main BIOGs files first didn't you, and then the Language Skills ones over it ... for both mods?

    Hi there! I have an issue where the new classes do not show up. So that you know, I am using Better Default Classes rather than Classes Redone since the former is recently updated. I have placed the BIOGs in their proper place, but the character select screen shows the default classes without the expanded classes. What could be the issue here?

      Sure you put the CLASS##.CFG files in the original game's arena2 folder? And have you messed with the load order? Not sure using Better Default Classes with it makes sense or is advisable ... you'll have two conflicting versions of a number of classes that way. This mod is designed with Background Question And History Fixes and Classes Redone in mind (both of which haven't needed to be updated in a while, but still work fine).

    I've been looking for a mod that could remove the limit for advantages and disadvantages, but nowhere to be found
    I wanted to create some specific classes like forbid all shields, most types of weapons, armor and so on.
    can it be done? Can i change it on my own? which file should i tinker?

      You can do it by creating a mod like this one that introduces new default classes, or the existing default classes can be edited ... there is no limit on the number of advantages and disadvantages if you do it this way, but it is very complicated (and you can't create new advantages and disadvantages, you have to use the original ones). To edit the Class files to suit your needs, or to create new ones, you need a utility called DaggerClass available on the UESP HERE. It's an old utility and won't work on modern operating systems, I had to build a WindowsXP emulation on my PC to use it. If you get that open you can add or delete all the advantages and disadvantages you like to the existing classes (or make new ones, but that would involve having to make new class descriptions and BIOG files as well which makes it even more complicated). You can also do it through coding I think ... there's a Necromancer mod that does that.

  7. Hello I have a problem that it seems everyone else don't have, all the new classes seems to work just fine except for pugilist, whenever I choose to randomize or choose the background questions it just returns to the race menu

      Just tested it myself, works fine when either choosing your own background question answers or when letting it randomly pick them... so not sure what's going on there. What race/gender combination did you use, I'll test that too just to be sure.
    2. For some reason I did not clarify that I also have Language Skill overhaul so am using the alternate BIOs which seem to have less BIOs than the main file, also with more digging the Agent Class and Swashbuckler are also not working.
      Any race or gender reverts back to the race menu, might be a load order issue, it is even working with Expanded Shop and Tavern Names despite the many reports of bugging it out, it is just a minor annoyance since most other classes are working as intended

      Edit: Have confirmed that it is an issue with the BIOs, the alt files for Language Overhaul only have 13 files compared to the standard one having 16 BIOs, the 3 missing ones were the Agent, Swashbuckler and the Pugilist BIOs,

      Yeah, your supposed to install the regular version first then install the Language Skills Overhaul version over that ... that way it replaces the ones that need it and leaves alone those that don't. It says as much in the install instructions on the DESCRIPTION page.

      Yeah, this mod doesn't seem to sit well with some mods that change text strings ... they run the risk of overwriting each other I think. It may be possible to do some sort of compatibility patch, but truthfully I wouldn't know where to start with an all out translation mod.

    Greetings! I have encountered an issue with the names of the new classes, the normal names have been replaced with <LocaleText-NotFound> in the class selection menu. I have tried to solve this issue on my own but I had no luck. I installed the mod properly on a completely clean 1.1.1 version, along with background questions and classes redone, both roleplay mods and DEX, and yes I sorted the load order like you said in the posts. I tried to reinstall the mods 3 times as well as install the language skill overhaul and the proper versions of the classes redone/ expanded mods but still the <LocaleText-NotFound> persists. I must mention that I have used all of these mods together on an older version of Daggerfall and it worked fine. Hopefully you can help me figure out this strange problem. Thank you for your time and for all the great mods you made.

    Having an issue where selecting one of the new classes works up until the point where I have to choose whether or not I want to randomize or answer questions for my character's background. I have your background questions fix mod installed. Here's my load order for all the related mods:

    Background Question And History Fixes
    Classes Redone
    Classes Expanded
    Roleplay & Realism
    Roleplay & Realism - Items
    Daggerfall Enemy Expansion
    Language Skills Overhaul

    EDIT: I fixed the issue, was entirely on my end, caused by the fact I had misunderstood the install instructions for Background Question And History Fixes.

    I'm sorry, i'm new to modding Daggerfall and I don't know how to install classes mods, is there somewhere i should put what i downloaded ? When I create a new character the new classes aren't displayed, I can't select them.

      See the instructions under "HOW TO INSTALL" on the mod description page or in the ReadMe file provided... basically:
      1. Put the "arena2" folder in your original daggerfall game files and overwrite.
      2. Put both the "BIOGs" and "Mods" folders into DFU's "StreamingAssets" folder and overwrite.
      3. If you are using the Language Skills Overhaul mod, put the alt "BIOGs" and "Mods" folders into DFU's "StreamingAssets" folder and again overwrite.
