I have the quest to give the Unicorn Horn to the king of Worms, and the horn is in my inventory, but for some reason when I attempt conversation to give it to him, nothing happens. I have done both the wedding letters and soul of a lich, and I am also aware of Medora's curse after doing Lhotun's quest as well.
Same here, i have the horn, and is back in Scourge, but KoW is mute so im stuck it seems, or should i give it to Medora instead? Also KoW didnt take the letter from Morgiah either, just sent me to get the horn right away.
I've heard a lot of questions about this mod, and I spent some time trying it myself. In short, the mod does often break, and I don't know why. The quest files are written properly, but things just don't get spawned in their correct place for no obvious reason. It's unfortunate that the author has left/deleted their account and any fixes are unlikely, but if I were the author, I wouldn't know how to fix it. It's just inconsistent bugs.
In my case, in Lysandus' Revenge, Woodborne Hall is revealed properly, but neither Woodborne nor his letter spawn inside the castle, which is a softlock. I attempted this twice.
In Orcish Treaty, the letter inside Orsinium doesn't spawn. I attempted this twice. Without this, the game can't proceed.
In Emperor's Courier, I made two attempts because the knight didn't spawn on the first attempt, but did on the second one.
As you can tell, this makes the mod risky to play, as there's a possibility that your main quest can't proceed (through no fault of the player, or even the mod author IMO). I wish I could point out some obvious fixes to the quest files, but there aren't any that I can see. Maybe it has to do with the various branching paths which I didn't explore. I don't know. In any case, there are enough issues that I wanted to point out. Note that I did not attempt the "Secret Quests" add-on.
This mod is incredible. It really adds a lot of depth to the main quest, and makes me feel like I'm a genuine detective for the emperor having to actually talk to the nobles on my own. I was wondering if it lets me get the emperors letter without helping Morgiah, since my character is a good guy type, I already accepted the quest from her, it wasn't until after reading her letter where I figured my character wouldn't agree with what she's doing with the king of worms.
I'm not 100% sure if it's due to this mod, but when I was first sent to the King of Worms by the main quest (by princess Morgiah in Wayrest), upon speaking to him I was immediately given a different quest - to get the Great Unicorn Horn for him - and only after accepting that did I get the dialogue for the quest I was there for (and the response letter).
I've since gone through Shedungent and fetched the horn for the King of Worms, and only now did I realize that this quest wasn't part of the normal experience. Will I still be able to progress through the main quest? I gave the princess the reply and have been informed of her wedding, so that part seems to work as usual.
EDIT: On a whim I went to queen Aubk-i, and she reacted to me as if I'd done some quest for her to check on Nulfaga, and gave me an enchanted Eodoric. Immediately after accepting this reward, I was offered the very same quest. After accepting it, it wasn't in my quest log, and on speaking to the queen again I got the next quest, to check on castle necromaghan. This can't be how it's supposed to work...
Giving the Great Unicorn Horn to the King of Worms is good and is one of the three paths to Lysandus. Because you have given him the unicorn horn you will not be involved with medora. The King of Worms will contact you later and the main quest will continue.
As for Aubk-i, yes that is a bit of a bug. Basically you spoke to Nalfaga when you did the Unicorn Horn quest so when Aubk-i asked you to check on her you were like, "Nalfaga is fine, I spoke to her last week!" Thus the quest ended and you got the reward. I have fix this bug and will release it soon, i'll wait to see if any other minor bug emerge. I might make this impossible to happen, so you have to get quest first, or fix the dialogue so she just rewards you for knowing about Nalfaga instead. If you have already spoken to Nalfage then would she ask you to go all the way back just to double check?, i'll think about it.
had the same thing happen except when I try to give him the horn, nothing happens. It's in my inventory and the timer is still going in my journal, but the quest just won't complete T.T I don't want to tombstone it for obvious reasons, nor to I want to give the horn to anyone else
The Emperor's letter isn't appearing at the place UESP says it's at... I don't know what happened (on the Orcish Emancipation quest). I figured that since is the only MQ mod I'm using for this attempted playthrough, I'd post about it here. I just I know that I'm tired of encountering softlocks in this game's main quest whenever I attempt it (modded or not). I meet the freaking time limits, yet some bug puts it on permanent hold. Tried the MQ with the New Main Quest mod and still found softlocks. I suppose this isn't really your fault, but this game is already exhausting enough when trying to meet all the time limits and stuff... bugs just make it so much worse... I guess it's a "skill issue" on my end...
Managed to get the Emperor's letter via a method I found in the "bugs" section. My current issues are, along with not being able to do Barenziah's Book, Lord Woodborne or his letter do not appear in his hall in the Lysandus's Revenge quest. I was able to do Elysana's quests (though she gave me both at the same time and I had to time out her first quest with her "cousin"), doing her betrayal quest in a matter that didn't get Castelian killed. Even after that, though, neither of them are spawning in his hall. I might hack his letter into my inventory again to implicate him at least.
I hacked in Woodborne's diary and gave it to Barenziah. A little while and was able to get Barenziah's quest. It was properly in Gortwog's dungeon and I accessed it with tele2qmarker. Odd that it was so delayed, though.
Alright, got the quest from Skamat. However, killing the vampire prematurely ends the quest. I have to hack the horn into my inventory to progress the quest.
Hi, the Skakmat issue is a bug that I have now fixed. Thanks for reporting it. I'm looking into the other issues, but I can never replicate them no matter what I try. I'll keep trying though.
Hi. I read that the time limit for "undiscovered quests" have been extended. If they are undiscovered, then there's no telling if I have missed them or not. Is there any kind of notification? Like letters, or a message mentioning rumours when entering a town or certain areas? I'd like to fully experience your mod, and not miss out on things just because a timer started without my knowledge.
Hi, Many of the pathways are hidden and are only hinted at.... There are rumours but the best place for info is the courts of Daggerfall, Wayrest and Sentinal. If you like I can send you a DM with a breakdown of the pathways but it will contain spoilers...
Hi ! I saw the conversation on the Daggerfall Workshop forums about "Barenziah's Book" not starting properly. I encountered the same thing and suspect it is caused by the mod Smaller Main Quest Dungeons (and it may be independant of your mod). At least in my case it broke the Orsinium dungeon (possibly due to another conflict). Removing the mod and reloading fixed the dungeon layout, but the quest markers seem to be irrevocably broken.
I got the quest to execute properly by adjusting it to spawn the journal at "marker 0" instead of "marker 2". But that put it into the void on top of another quest item. I have no idea why that is or how to fix it, so my save is probably dead.
Hi, Thank you so much for finding that out! :) Your game is not lost... Barenziah's book quest is optional so it's ok. However, if you remove smaller dungeons mod and type 'startquest DW100011' it will restart that quest and will work fine.
Regrettably, no, it says it restarts the quest, but it behaves the same. I also tried to endquest, save and reload, and then restart it, but Barenziah did not even react anymore (possibly because the quest is "tombstoned"). I suspect critical information gets lodged in the save game, not just about the quest, but also regarding related dungeons... but I can't find it. Also, at least one other quest seems to be active and relate to Orsinium, since there is this other quest item in the dungeon.
Have you tried removing the mod 'smaller dungeons'? I tested it without the mod, I tombstoned the current quest and then restarted it and it worked on my PC. I also tested the vanilla main quest with the mod and it also fails too. :(
Thank you for trying to help ! I removed the dfmod file, started without, tombstoned, saved, loaded, restarted the quest, and talked to Barenziah - but nothing happens (not even her quest offer). I also tried leaving the castle and loitering, to hopefully "refresh" her. Perhaps I would have to satisfy some timer after restarting... or get rid of the old invitation letter... While I was reverse engineering the save format, at least I saw progress, but now I start to doubt it is worth it to try and dig deeper. It's a huge pity though, because the smaller main dungeons are so much more enjoyable. (The mod page is silent so far.)
So, I think I fixed it. Orsinium is still borked, but I can keep the SmallerMainQuestDungeons mod in. Here is what I did, for the benefit of others who may encounter the similar problems.
1. Make a save before talking to Barenziah and accepting the quest to go to Orsinium. 2. Open QuestData.txt in ...\AppData\LocalLow\Daggerfall Workshop\Daggerfall Unity\Saves\SAVEx 3. Search for "locationId": 50014 and copy the {...}-block in questItemMarkers, from questUID until markerID, including the curly braces 4. Add a comma after the copied } and paste the copied section behind it, so that there are two entries between [ ] 5. Set questUID to 33609635, x to 40, and markerID to any unused value (I incremented to 28846654) 6. Repeat this for all instances of the locationId (I had three) 7. Search for place item Chapter6 at _orsinium_ marker 2 8. Some lines down from there, change "marker": 2 to "marker": 1
Now the quest should work, and you should find two quest items in a unique room in Orsinium. The one on the floor is related to Barenziah's Book. Leave the other if it feels wrong. Note that you may still need to clip through walls (tcl) or tele2qmarker in Orsinium. Also note that you may be able to skip steps 3 through 6, if you change "marker": to 0 in step 8, instead. This should make the two quest items spawn on top of each other, so that they can only be picked up together.

I already regret installing this mod at this moment.
Thanks

Edit: Ah nevermind. I saw you provide a compatibility file already in ArenaFall download section. Thanks!
