I've figured out how to improve performance: disable or give an option to disable shadows, this is why turning down the detail slider fixes performance but it affects every other shadow in the process, disabling it on just this mod would be a massive boon to performance.
Thanks, Kamer, I love the mod, but I had to uninstall it because the lag was causing me to fall through the world during player-controlled travel. I was hoping to find a solution to this by tweaking the load order, but the only thing that stopped me falling through the world was disabling low poly trees. I'll give it another try on the next update, unless someone knows a workaround.
An alt version is being worked on by burt, for now the only thing I can recommend is that you can tone down the detail slider. Depending on your PC, it can help a lot without removing any noticeable detail.
go to your settings.ini and make sure that TerrainHeightmapPixelError = 1. I was having that problem with distant terrain and updating the .ini fixed it.
would it be possible to make the trees only have collision for arrows and spells? like still be able for the PC and NPCS to walk through them but i still feel a little protected running into the woods from archers :v
Would it be possible to add a function where the 3D trees revert back to 2D sprites during "time accelerated travel" when using the Travel Options mod? I think that would improve performance a lot if it's possible - my game runs fine otherwise using this mod. BTW I have almost 100 mods installed; this one is probably my favorite!
I love the 3D tree look. Makes it look like actual forests. Though the immersion breaks when passing through the tree trunks. Is there a plan to make the trunks solid in the future? Leaves an branches don't matter that much, but solid trunks would make it even more immersive.
