To the author: For it to work via Vortex, the .dfmod file should be in a Mods folder. ("\Mods\YOURFILE.dfmod")
To people using Vortex: After you install all your mods, go to the "\Daggerfall Unity\DaggerfallUnity_Data\StreamingAssets" folder and move all the .dfmod files to the \Mods folder there (so "\Daggerfall Unity\DaggerfallUnity_Data\StreamingAssets\Mods") (Note: This will confuse and break Vortex for these mods.)
To people weirdly mad about people using Vortex: It's because we can install a whole collection more easily than manually downloading and installing every single mod. Even with the unpaid version, it saves a few clicks per mod, which adds up when you have 50-70 mods being installed (which is how many I have had). It also allows selecting all and looking for updates. Manually checking every single mod for updates would be a pain, and you probably just aren't updating everything at that point.
When using with DREAM, the specific location arts behind your character on the inventory screen are not working like they should (you don't see the tavern/dungeon fonts anymore for exemple).
That's a problem with DREAM. Using DREAM with any mod that overrides UI windows (like this one) can result in the problem you have outlined. I suggested a fix for that a long time ago but not sure why it wasn't implemented.
"This will still work with player controlled journeys using Travel Options (you then get the time in hours and mins like in the Travel Options mod)."
This does not seem to work for me, unless i'm missing something. Tried to place this mod below and above the Travel Options in the load order, but all quests descriptions still show days of fast travel, instead of hours.
You need to enable the Player Controlled Inns Travel in the Travel Options settings, this way your travel time estimates will always be in hours and minutes and not full days as fast travel is effectively disabled this way
Great mod - works very well with my slow travel playstyle! Would it be possible to add a hint about direction as well as distance? 3 days travel for a direction I was going anyway and 3 days for the opposite way entirely have very different implications.
Sometimes mods JUST WORK under Linux also. I'll give it a test.
Also if you want you can just setup Linux under windows with WSL and I think with a bit of configuration it allows running opengl and vulkan games within that environment. Obviously not at 1:1 performance but good enough for testing.
Before I found this mod, I was considering moving out of Daggerfall to a smaller country like Glenpoint. I have fast travel turned off, and it was just getting way too arduous to travel clear across the kingdom for every dungeon. This mod fixes that. Not only can you view how far out of your way you'll have to go for every quest, you can set it so the game will only give you quests within a customizable radius of the town you're in. This revolutionized the game for me, made manual travel SO MUCH more reasonable and enjoyable. 10/10 mod, wouldn't play without it.
