So I gotta be honest. I SUPER respect and appreciate Carademono's work, big time, HOWEVER- what they say about WoD-Terrain being the same as this is just not true.
I've tested the two against each-other obsessively (and I mean it, I'm deeply Autistic, it's what I do) and this older mod just looks better and more realistic. More sweeping valleys, rolling hills, larger flat areas between mountains regions, etc.
Whereas WoD-Terrain, while it DOES look good, looks a lot more like a video game. Steeper inclines, "noisier" ruggedness, etc.
The WoD variant is more updated, and placed at vanilla height, so it's less buggy. You won't find instances of the odd tavern or temple WAY up in the air on a lone mountain you cannot climb (levatation spells, bby). Also, the coasts are gentler and more approachable.
However, Interesting Eroded Terrain, despite its occasional oddities, just looks far more real-worldy in most cases and makes for truly stunning scenery.
ADDITIONAL DOWNSIDE- Distant Terrain, the mod which kicks this one up a notch, doesn't function with the current version of DFU at all. In that it literally breaks the map gen. Where there should be ocean, you will just get endless flat repeating terrain until you hit a new biome. It's very strange and incredibly broken and unnerving.
I don't know that anybody will see this post but I place it here for information's sake regardless.
Just so you know, random user who appreciated your thoughts, here. I was veering towards this because the results look more... Geologic, for lack of a better word? Unfortunately, as noted, my pals tell me this one is - at the moment - pretty broken. My hope, and this comment, is me putting a pin in it for the future.
Thanks for taking the time to write this, your information was appreciated..!
I want to thank you too. I much prefer the sort of landscape that according to you this mod provides, so you helped me with my decision to choose this mod over WoD. Although I am still only in the process of collecting and downloading mods I like, as the pc I am going to be playing on hasn't arrived yet (it will be the MSI Claw 8, a handheld gaming pc). So will be a little while until I can finally play, and see whether my chosen mods work, and play nice together.
Too bad it's broken and no more supported, it looks really gorgeous.
Edit: I'll give it a try anyway, maybe I can do something with the load order or by sacrificing something else. @Skoon at first sight, I still have birds.
Edit: So, don't use that script anymore since World of Daggerfall Project's terrain generator mod is basically a fork of Interesting Eroded Terrain. Look at what World of Daggerfall author's said:
Is this mod broken? It seems to be working fine for me, save for land generating around my ship which I cannot find a single result for no matter HOW hard I Google (which is really getting tiresome at this point, Google searching has truly become worthless).
On that note- if anybody knows how to solve that land around the boat issue, pls lemme know.
Oh btw- I fixed everything I was having a problem with back in April!
The birds was just my load order.
Also if I am being honest... the WoD terrain version looks nice but not as natural and sweeping as this older version did. I kinda miss the realistic valleys of this old mod. They may be the same as the dev said- but the results aren't. kehe
Oh well, it all beats the vanilla terrain by miles!
I am also using the birds mod. I just noticed that since installing this, I haven't seen any birds. Since this mod raises the entire map, I am wondering if the birds are now all flying around in the void.

Which is why I am flummoxed , honestly.

Anybody else using both mods together?
