Is anybody else not getting any birds, like at all? I've changed the settings so it should spawn like a huge amount to test if it was just bad RNG, but nope. I've also tried entering new area, both via fast travel and on foot. I'm on the latest DFU which might be the problem. I'm also on Windows.
Omg, same issue! Though I think this is because of the newest version of daggerfall unity, I don't have any mod conflicts on my end, and yea both this and health-bars are both pink for some reason. That's only the ones I know about so far, everything else I have seems to work fine.
yep! Pink birds for me, too. There are no color options in the mod settings, either. It's gotta be this Unity version, or maybe the Dream version I'm using. My pet theory is the bird graphic piggybacks off some other asset's palette point that was originally black but rehashed in some update or other. But what do I know? I just roll with it, it's kind of funny. EDIT: All I had to do was read back a few pages! Delete the folders inside the main Birds folder that AREN'T the operating system you use- if you're on Mac, delete the Windows & Linux folders, etc. That did the trick.
To the author: For it to work via Vortex, the .dfmod file should be in a Mods folder. ("\Mods\YOURFILE.dfmod")
To people using Vortex: After you install all your mods, go to the "\Daggerfall Unity\DaggerfallUnity_Data\StreamingAssets" folder and move all the .dfmod files to the \Mods folder there (so "\Daggerfall Unity\DaggerfallUnity_Data\StreamingAssets\Mods") (Note: This will confuse and break Vortex for these mods.)
To people weirdly mad about people using Vortex: It's because we can install a whole collection more easily than manually downloading and installing every single mod. Even with the unpaid version, it saves a few clicks per mod, which adds up when you have 50-70 mods being installed (which is how many I have had). It also allows selecting all and looking for updates. Manually checking every single mod for updates would be a pain, and you probably just aren't updating everything at that point.
Hey! Just wanted to let you know as it was recommended to me by the authors of WoD to do so-
I have discovered that the Birds in Daggerfall mod needs to go above "Advanced Wilderness Encounters" in load order to work together. Default order has them the other way around.
I wasn't sure which author to notify so I figured I'd leave a comment on both. So if anybody else here is also using them both- make sure to organize thusly if your birds fly away.
I never knew how much I needed this, but now I can't imagine playing Daggerfall without it ever again. It just makes the world so much more grounded and believable!

Interestingly the Show NPC Healthbar mod is also the same pink/purple.

PS It would be really cool if the bird models changed to bats at night time
