Not sure if this as been asked before but here I go: First, your mod is quite incredible and the way you made such a concept even work is really impressive!
So impressive in fact that I got me thinking, could your mod be used as a base for a traditional ship mod? Something that would let the player navigate his ship in the same manner you do with the airship, but on the water?
The one thing that always was a bit immersion breaking, to me at least, was the way the game handle ships travel and players vessel, and when I saw your mod, I thought maybe it could be to vanilla ship and boat travel what Realistic Wagon is to vanilla Horse and Cart.
Being able to actually board our ship at the docks would be game changer, and with WoD there’s Docks everywhere they’re needed. I can only dream about boarding a ship after haggling my way in, only to live the passage in real time.
I don’t mean to ask for you to produce anything, I’m merely curious about if such possibilities are even possible with your airship framework. In any cases, good work on this marvellous mod!
Yes, it's entirely possible! The WoD team has reached out, but I've been slacking on my part. There are some added wrinkles due to to how the base game keeps track of your ship and what it expects and how to handle that, but it's something I definitely want to achieve. I have other projects that take up my time and interest at the moment, but I think decorator and airships are in a stable place for now so I feel comfortable tackling this other aspect soon.
Please Kaedius, make that possible! It would be a dream come true if we could also sail our owned ships across the sea. BTW your Airship mod is awesome!
Yes you can go to mods in daggerfall unity main menu and pretty sure you select airships and settings on the right or mod settings. If you download the mod manually there is a readme text file with instructions for help or setup!
I seem to be having an issue with chartering a ship...so the pilot falls out when the ship is arriving. Although it might work with the "instant summon" option. If not I'll just lower the price of a small ship and immediately buy it.
Edit: At least it's working with Travel Options now.
I haven't used fast travel in weeks now so I feel like this actually adds to immersion in such a pixelated classic; if you travel at 1 speed. The Decorator mod lets your airship be your mobile home (minus beds you can actually sleep in; bring a camping kit.) and the other random airship traffic is a nice touch!
If you ever have time, can you please add an option to completely disable autopilot? Once in a while, it suddenly kicks on when I first grab the steering wheel (without me clicking anything!) and immediately dives into the ground. This would be a minor nuisance, but it also kills my companions for seemingly no reason (Language Skills Overhaul mod) and I have to constantly reload saves; ruining a good cruise.
The Airship works great on it's own! It's just that autopilot doesn't seem to get along with World of Daggerfall, Enhanced and Eroded Terrains, and Language Skills Overhaul (Poor dudes keep going splat, but only after autopilot kicks on?) so having an option to completely remove it might help others out there too.
He tried to jump on board to stab you in the back, but slipped and fell down. One less criminal in the Kingdom of Daggerfall, I say... Up, up and away!
Hello, great mod! I was wondering if it would be possible to have other skins for the aircraft, for example with spinning propellers instead of masts to give it an even more fantastical look. It's just an idea, but anyway, thank you for your mod, it's really cool.
