About this mod

Stop the game forcing your weapons when carrying bodies.

Changelogs
The game v2 changed the weapons behavior when carrying bodies forcing automatic weapon equip and prohibiting unequip or weapons switch.

This mod aims to restore your control over weapons to how it functioned in previous game versions.
Additionally, you can choose whether to permit the game to automatically equip your weapon upon picking up a body (which has always been the default behavior in the game if you had a perk enabling weapons when carrying enabled).

In other words: you're back in control over your weapons.
And you're no longer forced to look like an idiot brandishing weapons while just taking a body to a dumpster ;)

There are two mod edition types to choose from:

CET Edition:

CET. No forced weapons all-in-one - this mod allows you switch/unequip weapons and toggle initial automatic weapon equip based on your preferences.
This is a universal mod that covers all functionalities and lets you decide what features you want to enable.
Please note that the game's initial weapon equip is enabled by default - you'd need to disable it in the mod's CET window if you like it.

The CET edition is set as the main Vortex download file.

Redscript Editions:

As redscript does not allow me to present you with mod options, there are two files to choose from based on your preferences:

Reds.A. No initial weapon equip - this mod prevents the initial automatic weapon equip and allows you switch/unequip weapons.
Reds.B. Default initial weapon equip - this mod allows you switch/unequip weapons while still retaining the automatic initial weapon equip.

You can install one over the other if you change your mind.

Please make sure to install correct requirements!

What if I install the CET and Redscript editions?
There is no harm in installing both.
The CET edition will detect the presence of the redscript edition and remain inactive.
Additionally, the CET edition will allow you to control redscript editions features from its menu window.

Limitations:

As per the game design, only one handed small firearms are allowed when carrying bodies.

When carrying bodies while a weapon is unequipped, the keyboard keys 1,2,3.. don't work as weapon equip shortcuts - this is the game limitation.
These keys work only as equipped weapon switch in this special game mode.
You can use mouse left click, Alt or equip/unequip keys/buttons to equip your weapon instead.

Currently this mod stays on sidelines if you activate Savage Sling body perk due to inconsistencies in the game code that would allow conflicting actions in this case. Thanks to 2000Arsen for providing details.

Compatibility Info:

Game v2.x ONLY!

Game v2.0+ - 2.1+ compatible.

The CET Edition is designed to disable itself on game versions prior to 2.0
CET 1.29.0 is not supported due to numerous issues in this version.
CET 1.30.0 is not supported due to issues in this version.

DO NOT USE REDSCRIPT EDITIONS with earlier game versions.

Compatibility rules:

This mod follows the game's design and relies heavily on the game mechanics and built-in model definition fundamentals.
If you use it alongside other mods that alter the game's built-in fundamentals, the results may vary and depend on the changes made by those other mods.
If you use mods changing the game design or circumventing the game methods to make it behave differently or mods disrespecting shared resources use rules, and you'll find the final results unacceptable or falling short of your expectations, there is nothing I can do about it as the game compatibility is affected by the other mods.

Mandatory requirements:

CET Edition:

Requirement: Cyber Engine Tweaks
Please make sure to install the latest version matching your game version.

redscript
cybercmd or RED4ext are NOT required for this edition

Redscript Editions:

Requires redscript
Requires cybercmd or RED4ext if combined with REDmod. Please select one of the two as together they may cause issues.
If you choose the cybercmd and you don't have the Cyber Engine Tweaks installed, make sure to install the cybercmd standalone version.
Please make sure to install the latest versions matching your game version.

Cyber Engine Tweaks is not required for rescript editions.

Important note regarding redscript editions:

While the mod is labeled as a patch, it is still a workaround in its current shape due to the redscript limitations.
Only the CET edition qualifies for a full patch as it provides user controls and supports a wide range of game versions in a single mod.

Issue reporting:

If you experience some unexpected mod functionality on the supported game and requirement versions please first verify it with all other mods disabled (with the exception for the required scripting platforms) before reporting.
The mods types that may affect this one functionality typically are:
  • the redscript mod files in the \Cyberpunk 2077\r6\scripts folder
  • the CET mod files in the \Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64\plugins\cyber_engine_tweaks\mods folder
  • REDmod mods in the \Cyberpunk 2077\mods folder
Please note I don't provide support for the required modding platforms or plugins.
If you find any issue with the requirements please contact their vendors.

Please note 99% of issues come from incorrect or incomplete requirements configuration, incompatible mods, corrupted data in game saves, unhealthy game install base or corrupted mod install.

The CET edition would not exist without yamashi and the whole CET Team
