About this mod

New update files! Makes rain more transparent, as well as fall faster and more uniformly (very little variation in direction)... Also, reduces the "spark" effect when droplets hit the ground/other objects... Also increases LOD ranges for the main rain particles and splashes by ~40%... Also improves light interaction by reducing the roughness.

Modifies all of the rain ".particle" files (including toxic rain), so not compatible with other mods that edit any of these files, such as Improved (or is it?) Rain Effect by u/Sosuine

New "Lighting Revamp" addon available that almost could've been it's own mod: This massively overhauls the lighting for (and a few other aspects of) the rainy weather state, by tweaking it's .envparam file... This is not compatible with other mods that edit the "24h_weather_rain.envparam" file, including the "Straight Rain" addon for this mod... It is compatible with all other files from this mod and with most other mods (including "Env" lighting/weather pattern mods and custom LUTs)... I personally suggest to use it alongside Nova LUT by u/TheCyanideX", as that helps reduce the glaring lights (see screenshots... A few include Nova LUT)... See the last "Known Issue" below for more details as to why I suggest this (though note that it is absolutely not required and the issue should never be too bad even without any other LUT mods)...

Installation:

Uninstallation:

  • Delete the "####Manually_Enhanced_xxxx.archive" file from your [CP77>archive>pc>mod] folder

Known issues (there's a lot here, but none of it's really that bad aside from maybe the first one):
Some very distant objects get a weird "glow" on the edges while driving in first person with the main version of the "HD Textures Addon" (the version found under "Updates")... Here is an example of what this looks like (this is the worst case I've found... Coming out of the badlands into the city at sunset)...
  • I released an optional version of this file without the HD car window rain for anyone that wants to avoid this issue... I personally don't think it happens often enough to care and I like the way it looks in 99% of cases, so I'm using the original version of the file...

The main version can hit performance pretty hard in the rain on some hardware, especially when you are moving fast... I basically get the same average framerate, but I get pretty bad drops down to the low teens every once in a while if I'm driving real fast though the city or something (probably happens about every 10-30 seconds of fast driving and lasts for less than a second)... I very rarely drop below 30FPS without this file, and only down to the mid 20s or so when I do)... This almost seems to be area specific, though... Mostly seems to happen around the area just inside of the city and outside of the Badlands, but does also happen in a couple other areas, too, such as Corpo Plaza...

The "Lighting Revamp" addon is slightly experimental though has been tested quite extensively and seems fine... I did some things in it that almost shouldn't work, though, like add in proper sun rotation (not that you can ever see it)... This also increases volumetric fog density, but also increases the visibility through it in most cases by reducing it's absorption and alpha transparency (this is the cause of the slight over-exposure, but I tweaked as much as I could to not make it too over-exposed)... Just note that it could have some blinding light issues, especially with HDR... I suggest using this file along with Nova LUT by u/TheCyanideX (just the LUT, though use the env, too, if you'd like)... Nova LUT massively reduces the blinding lights (with or without this mod)... If you are manually installing/managing your mods, you will need to rename the "NovaLUT.archive" folder to "!!!!NovaLUT.archive" for it to take priority (I suggest to always put LUT mods near the top of your mod priority list, so they can override any env mods that use custom LUTs)...
