Thanks for making this mod because now driving in dense areas is quite realistic for me on my hardcore setup. The distant models for traffic lights use a looping animation for Red/Yellow/Green and are not reflective of the traffic system that NPC vehicles are using. One day somebody will publish a mod to match those distant traffic lights with the traffic system, and all will be well :)
Unfortunately, this does not work properly (running on 2.1).
Yeah, the .ini setting kills green wave, but it introduces absolute randomness to traffic lights. With this installed, they will *sometimes* stay red when they should, sometimes they will still turn red and then suddenly green when you are 10m away from the traffic light. Even worse, now they will sometimes insta-switch to red, as in, they will turn green and as you approach close, they suddenly insta-turn to red again.
When they are consistent, i.e. staying at something rather than quick-switching, then traffic obeys. When they are quick-switching traffic does whatever and the player has no way of predicting what is gonna happen.
I was hoping for a remedy to the broken traffic lights, this is not it. Also by no means attacking the mod, this is, like others said, a result of the utterly busted traffic system. Unfortunately this mod is not the solution I was hoping it to be.
This happens in my game and I don't have this mod installed. Was actually looking for a mod that fixes it lol.
As far as I can tell, traffic lights have a bunch of different LODs that change as you get closer. The long distance one seems to pretend to work while changing from red to green every 8 seconds, then as you approach it loads a new LOD that does the same thing but looks a bit better (the ones in corpo downtown just despawn lol), then as you get closer again (like 10 meters) it loads another new LOD that actually shows the true light state, which without this mod, is usually just the game scrambling to turn it green.
You would need a mod that forces the LOD to stay at the 10m and closer range LOD always to fix it
The mod works, thank you! Unfortunately, the game traffic doesn't. After my car was hit for the third time in 10 minutes while crossing an intersection, I decided that a green wave is better.
The problem now is how they turn weirdly random, it can go from red to yellow then back to red and in any other weird way. Is there any mod that fixes the traffic lights so they work proper?
The whole traffic light system is broken, it have been so easy for them to make the lights switch every 30 seconds or so...instead they fucked it up like it is now
Sounded like a good idea, I tried it out for a few hours but now I suspect that the reason they made the traffic lights like that originally is to cover up the broken traffic AI, with this mod cars will still just sit at a green traffic light going nowhere half of the time, or when traffic builds at a red light, cars would move off with a noticeable delay between each car moving, causing unnatural long waits at traffic lights.
I noticed this too, I've fount that the issue has to do with the far lod models. They don't accurately reflect the lights color so you'll see it changing without npcs reacting. The only real fix I've found for this is increasing the lod distance in the initial settings. I've also been messing around with them and pretty much entirely deleted the low lod models which gives a little more distance on the high detail one which I may or may not release
Oh I see what is happening! Somehow the minister of travels of my city council has gotten his greedy hands on modding. DAMN YOU, you red-wave loving, bike-riding bast...!!! xD
/this is a joke. Yeah, it was pretty obvious, but you can never be too careful these days. ^^

even more mind blown that the green wave is a real thing XD
