You can reduce the FOV like it says in the description - it could essentially fake a range change and potentially reduce amount of talking through walls
My game shows an error message that scripts wouln't work although the game will launch, because of TalkToMe.reds after changing that line, anyone else?
Type it out yourself, copy-pasting it from here adds some funny unicode characters to the start of the command, resulting in the error:
if this.m_inCrowd && !isDriving && this.IsTargetInFront(target, npcFov(), false) && RandF() < 0.2 { ^ syntax error, expected one of "!", "(", "-", "[", "\"", "n", "r", "s\"", "t", "}", "~", ['-'], ['0' ..= '9' | '.'], a statement, an identifier
Compilation error: REDScript compilation failed. The game will start, but none of the scripts will take effect. This is caused by errors in: - TalkToMe.reds Or just open the file in Visual Studio Code instead of notepad / notepad++ and you'll visually see the intrusive characters.
&& Vector4.Length2D(this.GetWorldPosition() - target.GetWorldPosition()) < delta add this to the same line change delta with the how much distance you should have between you and your target to interact with and boom it's done, at least I hope I did not tested it; share the result with us will ya! if that works maybe try this too: && SpatialQueriesHelper.IsTargetReachable(this, target, target.GetWorldPosition(), true, false)
Mostly preem... had 3 attendees of Jackie's offrenda speak up to me. One called me a cookie cutter punk. Kind of killed the vibe. Mad disrespectful for a eulogy.
Tbh judging by the bug posts there's a ALOT of 'issues' with the mod, seems like one of those awesome mods that could really do with a revamp/recreation/makeover, range tweak option would be ideal for starters etc. Personally wish there was a mod for interacting with crowds/general NPCs more.
I haven't experienced any performance loss what so ever, and I'm running the game on a 5 year old rig, with everything at Ultra settings, and it runs like butter, the good kind of butter, like low-fat butter or is it called no-fat butter, or margarine, or I Can't Believe It's Not Butter; I can never tell the difference, but now I'm rambling. xP
Can you make it so this mod doesn't trigger speech when an NPC is already talking? This mod frequently interrupts quest dialog and random NPC conversations.

Find the line
if this.m_inCrowd && !isDriving && this.IsTargetInFront(target, npcFov(), false) {
and add "&& RandF() < 0.2" before the bracket, like this:
if this.m_inCrowd && !isDriving && this.IsTargetInFront(target, npcFov(), false) && RandF() < 0.2 {
Decrease 0.2 if you want the NPCs to talk even less, increase it if you'd like them to talk more. 0.2 is my personal preference.
Also, can anything be done about them talking to you through walls and such?
if this.m_inCrowd && !isDriving && this.IsTargetInFront(target, npcFov(), false) && RandF() < 0.2 {

Duuuude! I almost spat out my lunch, all over my keyboard when I read that! LMAO, nice one choomba, Kudos heh! *still permagiggling* xD
(Yep, I'm constantly having random giggles from random things the NPCs say to me, it's awesome, LOL!)
