yes yes yes thank you! just needed it for slow driving and set the acceleration to 0.1 Love to speed up with W and hold speed with new set V instead of L. Now my GTAIV driving can start :) Thank you so very much.
Dodge-dedicated Y-walk and drive with Lower base driving. This version doesent work for me ( vanilla ) it says invalid input and i cannot interact with the main menue . However the Dodge and Walk-Drive-54-1-1607704270 does work , but id like to use the other one
No matter how I change values and keys, the slow driving is not working at all. I used someone else's slow walk codes as well so that I can slow walk all directions (except diagonally), but it shouldn't interfere with driving. I found the driving code, which is: <mapping name="Acceleration_Axis" type="Axis" > <button id="IK_Pad_RightTrigger" /> <button id="IK_W" val="1.0" overridableUI="vehicleAccelerate"/> <button id="IK_L" val="0.4" overridableUI="vehicleAccelerate"/> </mapping>
Right? And nothing else? I changed L to ALT, as I have for slow walking, which works, but not for driving. I even changed the change_light button from ALT to L, so that I have free ALT button for vehicle to be able to bind normally without any conflicts or whatever. It's as if ALT is not working for driving, it just accelerates. I even changed to SHIFT, still doesn't do it, accelerates like regularly.
You sure there are no other sections of code you changed? I changed values as well, but nothing, from W val=1.3 and ALT val=0, to default 1.0 and 0.4 (or whatever else) respectively, but nothing, no change, even when idling and pressing ALT it doesn't move. I didn't tried to overwrite the file, I simply looked up the changes you made and just either copied over or adjusted existing one, but using search I didn't find any other place where you could've changed code for vehicle controls except the above one.
UPDATE: Never mind, got it working by writing "Alt" instead of "ALT".
What is the line and file for the alternative Y dodge version you uploaded?
I currently try to map Alt to slow-walk - which i got working successfully using the instructions you gave on the description page. Thank you btw! And i also wanted to have Y as a dodge key. It's a pain in the ass with the instructions on the pcgaming wiki and my game also wasn't able to recognize any input after that.
But, please do not tell me to use a different mapping program again. Those lines are in there i just need the block and i should get it to work myself.
Hey, man this is great. Thanks for making this mod. It's also helping me compare your file with the vanilla ones to see what changes you made so I can make my own as well. It's great thank you! I love the idea of the slow walk!
I was wondering actually, do you know if there's a way to switch the vanilla WASD speed to the new walk speed you made? Meaning, instead of having to hold the crouch button to Walk, I'd instead hold the crouch button to jog? Like flipping the speeds? And then maybe instead binding it Shift for Hold to Jog, and Double-tap to Sprint? You know how I'd be able to do this? Thank you.
So it would be like this: Normal WASD = walk WASD + Hold Shift = Jog WASD + Double-tap Hold Shift = Sprint
That would be great indeed. Or make it toggle. Like - press W: walk - press shift -> W: now jog - press shift -> W: now run - press shift -> W: walk again
This works too. But the Sprint would need to differentiate by being a double-tap, like holstering the weapon, or the dodge button. Those are multi-tap buttons. I don't think otherwise it would be able to detect the other type of input. One thing I've noticed and tested is that you can't go from Walk to Sprint. Sprint only works if your character is going at 1.0 speed (meaning jog). Anything less and Sprint won't activate. So you have to be in Jog for the Sprint function to be activated. I think once more people get into modding, they'll be able to mess with the code better and create this kind of movement system that goes from Walk > Jog > Sprint. Similar to Immersive Motion from The Witcher 3.
I am happy you are liking this, this is the first mod I have even tried doing myself.
Yes you can switch to the speed that I done to replace the vanilla thus not needing to push the button however it conflicts with sprint where sprint breaks and can not be used at all. If I can figure out how to have this run with sprint not breaking I can try modify further to what you mentioned above as I also like that idea.
Hi just to tell that there is no hard bound key it's just that key mapping/setting in game override cfg/xml, so if a keybind option is available in game it override cfg/xml but if there is no keybind option then cfg/xml take priority.
so for example the analysis toggle/hold if you invert keybind in cfg it doesn't have any effect because the in game keybind take priority but if you invert in game it work even if cfg/xml is left as default.
Just a thought for a mod, if someone can get a hold of the handling/power/grip files for the cars Perhaps tweaking them we could be drifting around night city in style.
now that would be a whole new way to play the game

You just use software with your mouse or keyboard.
L=walk/drive
Y=Dodge
Or would it be more like:
IK_Mouse4
IK_Mouse5
IK_Mouse6
IK_Mouse7
IK_Mouse8
ill looking into this.
