    Hello there,

If you are having issues, please (re)read the description, all of the pinned posts, and posts in general, it is very likely your question has been answered already.

    This proces
s should be applied as a rule of thumb to every single mod you download.

If you do not read the how-to, how will you know how to?

I have not tested this mod with Vortex or Mod Organizer, and I have no idea how it will be handled by virtual file load.

You are free to structure/load the mod for/with Vortex on your end if you so choose, I do not use it, and what saves you a click costs me a click, so, you do it.

Thankyou for your time, have a great day.

For those that are still struggling with redmod.

For steam, make sure mods are enabled in the launcher (will only show up if you have a redmod file in the mods folder) Here
For gog, make sure you have the enable mods checked in the launcher. Here and here
For Epic, it is like steam where you enable the button in the launcher.

To double check that the mod is running, go to Cyberpunk 2077\r6\cache\modded

Open the mods.json with notepad and you should see the following.

    This means it's working.

Do not bother the author with any other questions about this.

Earlier today I did a complete/fresh reinstall of the game (to test a mod that would not work for me, despite intensive troubleshooting).

Prior to reinstalling my game, I deleted the remaining Cyberpunk 2077 root game directory (the folder) left behind after Steam uninstalled the game, to make sure there was absolutely no chance of any left-over files that might cause errors with my new/fresh game reinstall. I even went as far as deleting my entire 'Saved Games\CD Projekt Red'  folder, just to be on the safe side, and make sure that previous saves would not/could not somehow cause any mysterious and unforeseen errors. (Note: I did however, make a backup of my save folder, for when I've reinstalled everything else later on.)

I just finished re-downloading a fresh copy of each of the following other core-mods that I use, and reinstalled them (Manual installations).
    Latest versions confirmed working with latest/current official game Patch 2.12a (+ 2.13, 2.2, 2.21 / on Steam):

    ArchiveXL
    Codeware
    Cyber Engine Tweaks
    cybercmd
    Material and Texture Override
    Mod Settings
    Multilayer Material Xtender
    Native Settings UI
    RED4ext
    redscript
    TweakXL
    Vehicle Manufacturers Resource

Game starts/runs perfect. Played for an hour+ on a New Game. No errors, no failure-to-start, no CTDs.
Now...onto re-downloading/reinstalling all my other mods, which thankfully are not that many, phew!

This was super helpful! I had to do a complete re-install today because my game kept crashing to desktop.
Worked after removing all mods, so I am slowly adding them back one at a time..

im jealous, i cannot get this mod to work with my game no matter what - i even attempted what you've posted here.
everything works in the game aside from a specific area (v's original apartment - this block of the city causes a force close to desktop)

This mod does nothing on its own and only takes effect in conjunction with other mods, and shouldn't be causing any errors. It is more likely you have another mod which lists 'Material and Texture Override' as a Requirement, and that mod is outdated (and needs an update) or incompatible with either your game version, or is in conflict with another mod.

      Troubleshooting:

      • Uninstall any/all mods you have that lists this mod (Material and Texture Override) as a Requirement.
      • Make sure 'Material and Texture Override' is also uninstalled.
      • Next, go into the game and check the area(s) you are having problems with [example: "aside from a specific area (v's original apartment - this block of the city causes a force close to desktop)" ]. If it is working fine again, make a new Save and Exit the game.
      • Next, download a new/fresh copy of this mod, 'Material and Texture Override', and install it. Then go into the game and test the problem area(s) again. If good, Save and Exit.
      • Next, download fresh/new copies of all the mods you just uninstalled. Pay attention to whether the mod(s) are still compatible with newest/latest official game version (or what ever game version you are using), or if no longer working or buggy (check Posts/Sticky's and Bugs comments).
      • Next, start installing each mod ONE-AT-A-TIME, and after EACH ONE, enter the game and check the problem areas. If good, Save and Exit, and continue installing the next mod.
      • IF you install a mod and enter the game and you find problem(s) again, then you have found the mod causing the problem. DO NOT use this mod.
      • Continue on Samurai...you have a city to burn.

I spent many many hours on trying to resolve CTDs I had with this game that I narrowed down to this mod and this mod only. Literally, with nothing else installed it always CTDs in the same spot for me (driving down the road not far from Vs apartment that goes by Lizzie's bar).

To be honest, when this game first released, I used to get random CTDs all the time, like a lot. At the time, I was still using Windows 7 and HDDs...then I upgraded to Windows 10 and SSDs shortly after and I (almost) never had random CTDs again. *knocks on wood*  xD

Look at the date/time stamp of this original post:
      25 March 2024, 8:32PM
At the time that original post was made, those were the latest/current mod versions at that date and time. Of course, today, some of those mods may or may not, have been updated---ultimately, everything still works fine, for me at least.  ♥

@dennydarko I did the exact same thing as you and nailed down to this exact mod and only him to have CTDs in the exact same area going to Lizzies Bar every single time. It seems to be near the fork in the road signs. I noticed that these signs kind flicker when they load (they also flicker without it), but not sure if this is related or why this would cause this mod to crash the game. Since this is an EXCEPCTION_ERROR_VIOLATION with data access error, it's probably a memory issue that the engine doesn't handle well. I also tried the redmod version and also happens
    9. I know I'm late to this game, but this post of yours and the reply are some of the most helpful posts anyone could have. I feel like this information should be a pinned note on top of the list of mods in the Categories section. Keeping mods updates is so important.

We recently looked into the frequent forced game shutdown phenomenon. In conclusion, when I deleted this mod, there were no more problems. Don't blame the user. This mode is the cause of all the problems.

yeah, mod authors for this game and a few others I noticed (not all mod authors mind you) tend to be so up their cracks that they can't seem to understand that mods have unintended side effects, especially after updates and other things, idk why, even the best software geniuses have to deal with bugs for software after updates and stuff,

blaming the user whenever so many people are having these crashing & fps issues (especially around kabuki I noticed) just seems petty to me.

This mod is working fine, as intended, with current game Patch 2.12a (+ 2.13, 2.2, 2.21 / on Steam).

No, mod is not work fine)))

Constantly crashes in certain locations, for example in Japan Town and near V's apartment.
THE PROBLEM IS ONLY WITH THIS MODE, I tried installing basic mods on a clean version of the game, including this mod, and this mod consistently causes the game to crash.

"This mod is working fine, as intended" So crashing and stutters is as intended? That's wild bro. I get you go around testing mods making sure they work but maybe try and test a mod longer than "I made a new game and ran around for an hour" lmao and test it on various different settings. This mod is causing plenty of people to crash and just having general performance issues. It needs to be updated.

What are you talking about??? This mod has already been proven to cause an "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" type crashes because it attempts to read game data that is no longer present in the latest game version.
      (Leads to hard crashing)

I've seen this crash happen more often on later (mid playthrough) save games. That means that using this on a newer playthrough might less the chances of this crash from happening. If this crash happens once, it will once again come back more frequently.

And it makes no sense why you talk down upon vortex; vortex installs mods the same way that you would install them manually.

I've come back to the game after a few months hiatus, so I'm on a fresh install with updated mods. Getting the same crashes as before with this mod installed. What is weird that even if I uninstall this mod, many other mods I have that say they require it still work just fine without it.

After almost four years and 1,553.4 Hours of Play Time with this game, and having this mod (Material and Texture Override) installed since the mod's release, I have yet to experience a crash caused by this mod. My game has not crashed for a very long time (it used to, a lot, back in the first couple months of the game's release). If it does, the reason for my game crashing was 99.97% my own fault due to human error, or a hardware issue (I'm still rocking a 1080Ti, psha *flexing poses*  lmao!), but I still run the game at maxed/ultra settings, and it runs butterysmooth and perfect for me. I honestly can't remember the last time my game crashed due to a mod I installed (Manual installs/uninstalls. No Vortex/MO2. No REDmod mods. Steam.). This mod still works fine for me.  o7 ♥

I'm guessing you don't run it ray traced then (based off of your gpu) From what I've noticed and from what I've seen from other people this mod causes crashing when paired with higher end settings i.e path tracing high crowd density ETC (mod being outdated is loading both old and new textures *presumably* which is making the game confused thus leading to crashes)

i run a 4080 and have this mod installed for about half a year (nearing 700 ish hours by now, good 500 of those hours i played modded) and regardless if have used RT, PT or regular rasterisation for testing diff stuff, i can count the number of crashes on the fingers of my 2 hands (excluding crashes where the culprit turned out to be a diff mod or another obviously).
im not a modder not a code crack, so honestly i couldnt realy tell, but most of the crashes i had have not been repeatable in the slightest (like i drive tru a certain area for a mission and crash, i reboot and repeat the mission and all goes smoothly) which makes me wonder where "its definitly 1000% no human error possible, its this stupid mods fault lmao, trust me bro" comes from, given its a handfull of ppl having issues, while it runs problemfree for most of 750k+ downloaded users? again as said not a modder of codemonkey myself, sadly, wish i was, but the logic doesnt add up for me  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This mod is not the issue! I just ran the Authors personal load order and didn't crash once. You guys clearly are using mods that conflicts. I suggest moving to MO2 as well, Vortex over complicates installations while MO2 is simple drag & drop, move lower to overwrite. The problem is either mod conflict or vortex botched some installations.

Anyone reading this, you do NOT need this mod these days & it guarantees CTDs after a certain amount of hours on your save.

I have tested across 3 different saves (one with 2 hours to test this mod, one vanilla 52 hours and one modded 91 hours) and both double-digit saves crashed consistently in Japantown (near Jig-Jig), Arroyo (near Sinnerman start quest) and outside V's apartment megablock building with ONLY this mod installed.

If you are dealing with CTD's, uninstall this mod and it will most likely stop.

Besides, this mod is not needed these days given most mods requiring this are either outdated or deprecated.

SHlROTSU Yeah or modders list it as a requirement when it absolutely is not. Most car mods "require" it but all my modded cars work and look fine without it. This is honestly one of those placebo requirement mods. you dont actually need it, but it is required by some old mods. The authors acting like the problem is not with this mod is straight up gaslighting. I suffered from the same Japantown crashes mentioned here and they stopped when I uninstalled.

Well, after stumbling upon this section comments, i've been trying to figure out why the hell my game crashes (SPECIFICALLY IN KABUKI AND JAPAN TOWN) but not anywhere else. after uninstalling this mod i went back for approximately for half an hour cruising around japan town passing most places i used to crash at multiple times without a single crash. now i'm not saying it's this mod causing all those crashes but i definitely need to test it more in my spare time to make sure it's definitely this mod.

For all people saying "the mod is fine" try to spend couple hours at (Kabuki, japan town, near the mox club, V's megabuilding appartement) with the mod installed and figure out for yourself, most likely your game well crash eventually in those areas.

I don't know why these places only are crashing with this mod, could it be conflicting with something there specifically?

Also had issues with this mod, I've even got spreadsheets so I could track the 55 hours of testing I put into finding the source.

This mod was absolutely the cause of semi-random crashing for me around a year ago. I could reliably reproduce this with multiple fresh gamesave and no other mods installed - I also tested with 1.63 and 2.0, I put a shitload of work into narrowing it down. Likely no fault of the mod author, could just be RedEngine reacting the way it does with certain setups (Oodle and the streaming engine come to mind).

Either way, when multiple folk confirm crashes in the same areas y'all need to quit it with the dismissals - utterly unhelpful.

      Inhales-

I feel like I've already said all of the things I will be saying here in various other replies, so feel free to skip reading this utter mess if you're not having issues, or are otherwise satisfied with this file, though there will likely not be anything here that helps anyone regardless, I am simply responding to the wave of "fix your broken and poor quality mod" that comes with each update, despite my better judgement.

Spoiler is the extended rant, it's quite long, I'm not sorry.

      Spoiler:
      Show

      [Crippling Performance Issues]

This file does not do anything to your game on its own, and without any mods installed, it, as stated in the description likely not many of you read, invalidates a database file ( two files since the new update! They added another index for the DLC :/ ) that indexes thousands and thousands of material files, which load textures, and colours for things, and all sorts of things really, and if you think for any reason that will not come with at least some kind of performance hit, loading or at least needing to look for, at runtime, thousands and thousands of material files, instead of just referencing one single indexed database file, then you should probably not be installing mods, or using computers in general.

I do apologise for not explicitly stating that there may or may not be some kind of minor performance hit, that's on me definitely, and I am sorry if it is somehow related to this file alone, but, if there is an impact, it is so beyond negligible that it doesn't matter remotely, if your computer can run the game at all, even at one single frame per second, then you're very likely well and truly eclipsing the hardware that these index hacks were implemented for in terms of load speed and general performance.

There is no way I can think of, that you could detect a performance hit from what this file does, before you notice the performance issues inherent to the lesser hardware you would have to be using in order to detect those issues in the first place, that's just super backwards.

      --

      [Crashes]

It's not possible that this mod is directly responsible, it may however be the catalyst, to some degree, in that it allows the loading of new modded materials and textures, which I cannot guarantee the quality of or knowledge behind.

It may also simply be that the game really did not ever intend to load materials from loose files at all, and struggles in some way to do so, there are a lot of engine level issues with this game and I cannot even begin to address fixing them myself, nor can I make this work in any other way, if this is the case, and the game just struggles to do things this way despite being capable of it, I am very sorry, but I cannot fix that at all, and this mod will be locked down and left for reference and archiving, because internet/data/mod preservation is awesome, and the future people may need something from it, or whatever, I'm not from the future, I'm from the past.

      --

      [Update WHEN!?]

I have consulted multiple people who still play and mod the game, and I am confident this file is working fine on the latest update, the simple fact of the matter is that the silent majority, that being probably 99% of the total unique downloads, all have it working correctly, without issue, and I simply do not know what do to at this point, there is nothing for me to update, or fix, and if the game is reacting negatively to this method after all this time having never had any issues, then it isn't my doing at all, and I cannot fix it.

IF it has stopped working in some way, then there is another issue somewhere, or CDPR have actually added a new database file, again, and I will need to add another nullified file to my archive, but, that will mean only brand new items added since the DLC update (not with the DLC itself) will not be working, it will not break anything indexed in the base game or DLC material databases, those files are still invalidated and work as intended, and from what I can tell from comments, this is not the case.

      --

      [Notes]

I have asked several people to play through the missions people have mentioned are crashing consistently, with this file on its own, with this file and a mod making use of it, and with their full load order, separately, so I can get a better read on that issue and it's possible root cause, this may take some time, and it is a lot to ask of someone, let alone multiple people, but we will see where that goes I suppose.

      --

[Black Holes Were Also Theory Once]

IF, if this mod is resulting in measurable and consistent crashes, in specific locations, with specific crowd density settings, as putting together a page of comments indicates, then, at a guess, this is very likely the reason they implemented an indexed material database to start with; the game may very well struggle to individually load the sheer number of materials being used in those high NPC/building density areas, in which case, this mod is technically the catalyst to your crashes, that would be correct, but it is in NO WAY the CAUSE of your crashes, and this is a very important distinction to understand, one leaves me directly and apparently deliberately responsible, one does not.

That said, I will be waiting for the results of someone testing whether this file is even required going forward, as that has been called into question, however, if this is in fact no longer required, it means the game, in one of the latest patches, or perhaps the author of one of the larger script extenders, or possibly outfit frameworks, has added or changed something very big in the way materials and the respective database files are used, and if this is the case, this mod is quite literally no longer required, and we do not need to fix any of these apparent issues, just uninstall it.

      [Requests]

Bit of a long shot that this will even be seen because rant and also because I can't be bothered messaging people and nexus has no way to mention someone outside of the forum, as far as I know at least, I don't really use nexus much, buuut anyway:

      To
Halliphax2, if you would be willing to share your spreadsheets, and any other relevant information regarding your tests, I would very much appreciate it, I cannot guarantee it will help at all, but I would like to narrow this down for the sake of the users having these issues.

      To
Nochala, if you could please point me to, provide more context surrounding, or documentation for, the access violation error issue that you and others have apparently encountered enough for it to be labeled as "extremely well documented" and "widely reported", I would very much appreciate this also, and I will see what I can figure out.

      To
SolidSnake365, and/or dodecadevin, if either of you, or anyone reading, could please explore the LOD mod and it's possible issues in that location a little more (image in a post below), preferably with and without this mod installed, separately, and then also with and without any mods installed, other than the LOD thingy, I would also appreciate this very much.

Feel free to message me here, people I listed, or, if you would prefer discord, please send me your handle, and we can share cat gifs chat.

      --

      [Notes]

I am genuinely sorry if I've done something incorrectly, or missed something, but at the same time, I do hope my side of this argument is understandable.

At this point, I will just have to rely on the comments of those that I know are probably doing it correctly, like Lisbeth here in this thread, you are the shining star of my comments sections every time, thankyou for your responses, to others and to myself, you are always very helpful, you are great and you should feel great, have a smiley day. <3

If anyone has anything I need to hear or otherwise anything critically relevant regarding this, or any of my mods, please feel free to contact me here on nexus, and if you have anything you need to actually speak to me about first hand, please send me your discord handle here on nexus, and we will talk when I am able.

      --

      [Bitchy Retaliatory Snark]

Please try your best to use single threads/reply to others having similar issues to yourself, do not flood the comments section with things that have already been posted, it clutters the section and makes the comments of the majority, for which it apparently works as intended, or the people solving their own or others issues, difficult to find.

If you have a tangible issue, troubleshoot and document it properly, get in contact with the author, and share your issue and feedback, do not simply post things akin to "mod no work", this helps absolutely nobody.

To those of you who have seemingly done a some real troubleshooting, and are still having issues that others are not, I am not ignoring you, please feel free to contact me if you would like to further explore things in a more personal and productive environment, if I can help, I will do my best.

Please be civil, if a mod doesn't work, or stops working, or needs updating, it is not the author spiting you if it doesn't get done, nor is it the authors intent for the game to react negatively to the modification, or in some way enable other issues indirectly, these things just kind of happen when modding any game that is not specifically built for it, which Cyberpunk is definitely not.

If people persist with the outright hate and disregard for apparently the entire modding communities efforts and talents, your posts will be removed when I can be bothered, and you may be banned from accessing any of my existing or future files, no mod author is obligated to cater to or even respond to your unmerited negativity, and lack of basic respect.

Telling a person they're awful, and cannot do well the thing they enjoy sacrificing personal time for, and sharing, for free, is a surefire way to discourage and demotivate anybody, and a hell of a way to ask for an update, or for help, and outright saying things like "we need to get nexus to take this mod down" is downright petty.

Please enjoy this complete and utter rant that my sleepy brain decided somehow was remotely a good idea, hopefully someone takes something positive away from all these useless words, because I have not.

This last section has been a public service announcement from like every modder ever, and does not relate solely to my own situation, nor this mod specifically, or it's apparent issues. Thankyou for your time!

      --

I hope you have varying types and times of day!

I can confirm that this true. Just downloaded over 100 mods and was having this issue. Deleted the MATO mod and now it's running fine. Funny thing is, the mods that supposedly require MATO are running fine without it.

Hi, thank you very much for sharing your work with us, I have also had problems with "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" near Japan Town and V's apartment, I uninstalled the mod and re-entered the game and the problem was still there, so clearly it's not the mod, I would like to find one by one but the truth is I have a long list of mods, if someone has the same problems and hasn't downloaded so many mods it would be great if you could put the name here, I will also try to find the mod responsible for the crashes I will report it here, I am 100% sure that it is not this mod because it has always worked well for me but since I installed quite a few mods I noticed that those errors started

If you have the "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" problem and your game always crashes in certain areas like Japan Town and V's apartment (Megabuilding H10) It's probably because you have No More Duplicate NPCs, You can also read in the mod's comments about these same problems.

The developer will release an update to fix this bug!!!! C:

Literally crickets from ALL of them, it's actually insane. Guys there's the mod author taking a personal interest in your issues and you guys don't have any DOCUMENTED proof that your games are clean. What modding tools you do or don't use, or if your "clean install" happened to leave behind your cyberpunk steam folders or other files from past installations. Critical thinking as a skill has been lost.

      RoxyXd THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I've spent literal days trying to fix my install, trying all sorts of things to include two reinstalls, changing my data protection, and even repasting my laptop. I can confirm that at least on my rig there was an issue between this mod and No More Duplicate NPCs. Both together causes a lot of instability when moving or spawning in NPCs, presumably because those actions cause those mods to interact.

I've heard that reducing the strategy on No More Duplicate NPCS to 0% may also stop crashing, but personally I didn't mess with it and just uninstalled it. I'd rather have this mod and duplicate NPCs doesn't bother me that much.

When you finally retire that old workhorse, you need to mount it on a fine piece of wood and hang it on your wall. I am convinced that the 1080ti is the best graphics card ever made, and that it will likely never be dethroned. The service lifespan, durability, and reliability of that card is unmatched going all the way back to the Video Toaster. It's the Honda Civic of video cards.

Does this need priority to load higher (or first) before other texture mods and/or the mods that it's a dependency or requirement for? In other words, what order should I put this in the Conflict Checker?

While I could be completely wrong as this is just a wild and uneducated guess, after reading this thread my initial thought was that if the above is true, then maybe that's the reason why some people are having issues since the REDmod version has reportedly been causing issues (according to the mod's description) and considering the fact that REDmods load last, I wonder if they're related or have anything to do with at least some of the supposed crashes listed here?

I could be way off base so if there's anyone knowledgeable about this, feel free to chime in and explain why I'm wrong (like if a priority over conflict can't or wouldn't cause CTD, for example), as I'm just trying to learn.

Better idea: If someone upgrades to a 50-series card (or later), they should put the 1080ti in another slot (preferably a 4x slot so it won't steal any lanes from the main gfx card), so they can use it for 32-bit PhysX in older games, instead of letting PhysX run dog-slow on the CPU. Plus it makes a good card to assign other non-gaming apps to so they won't eat up VRAM if you have them open while gaming. (You can assign a GPU to an app using Windows 10 or 11's "Graphics" settings.)

I'm gonna offer you an unsolicited advice, especially since you are inexperienced: don't use this mod. It's extremely broken and 90% of the mods that mention this as a requirement work just fine without it.

And I mean this with no disrespect to the modder, who did a good job, but it's no longer a relevant mod.

Just want to add some info from what others has said.

Regardless if you are on team "no crash" or "crash", I think the best alternative is the less mods you needs for the results you want, the better.

I've seen others mention you may not need this mod anymore. Here is a list of what i've tested.

    • Nissan Fairlady Z S30 - s30_pack_03_fix_001

    • McLaren P1

    • Mazda MX-5 Miata

    • Lamborghini Urus

    • KRNLNIK Toyota Supra MK5 HKS Widebody

    • KRNLNIK Rolls Royce Wraith

    • KRNLNIK Nissan Silvia S15

    • KRNLNIK Mitsubishi Starion Esi-R

    • KRNLNIK C63S AMG

    • KRNLNIK BMW M8 Competition Coupe

    • KRNLNIK Audi Rs6 Avant Quattro

    • Hyundai N Vision 74

    • GT40 MK1 MainFile

    • Ferrari F40_0.9.6

    • E46 tweaks 2.1 update

    • Dodge Challenger SRT Demon

    • Cadillac Escalade ESV

    • BMW M4 CSL (Main file) you need this

All of these vehicles so far, load in, drive, and look for the most part far fine.

The only thing that happens without MO, is on certain vehicles, you'll see some extra decals, eg. think of the roof decal that exists on your starter car you drive jackie in with.

Update 2.21 Legacy version manual install works perfectly fine for my heavily modded game (200+ mods; visuals, weapons, cars, overhauls, tweaks, reskins, etc). Will update if I get crashes later on and if removing this solves the problem.

update: after an 8 hour playtime and in Phantom Liberty, no issues whatsoever. cheers.

update: 3 days, no crashes. cheers.

Literally just spent the last 2 days to figure out why is my game crashing all the time at the same spot. Had to resort to a fresh install of the game and then installing every mod I have in waves to play trial and error with them. Of all my 300+ mods it took me quite some time to figure out which one is causing CTD. It wasn't fun!

All this time this single mod was causing it. Without ANY mods, just vanilla game, installing this mod and it will still crash!
    It is pretty much reproducible.

    Go to:

Watson, Little China, near the river, near V-s apartment.
Do a few rounds around that area.
Crashes to desktop reliably. Ver 2.21.

And I don't even run this game on potato (4090 + 7950x3d), no vortex no mod organizer, or other $hit, just regular manual install of all mods.

To anyone who is getting this stacktrace and has Material and Texture Override mod installed I hope google throws this result for you so that it will help you more then the help I got from it:

    Error reason: Unhandled exception
    Expression: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xC0000005)
Message: The thread attempted to read inaccessible data at 0x375F6770A50.
    File: <Unknown>(0)

Uninstall this mod and live happily ever after.

Mod author should update or if that's not possible delist this mod.

Hello, i have reproduced this exact same crash with a phantom liberty start! on a non modded game. Driving fast around japan and china town. It's directly related to QUEST states, a very fresh save wont crash, until some calls and new quests are triggered!

Mods, in general, seem to favorize this specific CTD, but they arent the reals culprits!! They simply make it happen a bit earlier, probably due to memory flush/swap.
It's directly related to QUEST states, a very fresh save (even on PL start) wont crash, until some calls and new quests are triggered (accepted or not) ! HOWEVER, it's also linked to RT reflection OR/AND RT lightning medium/ultra/psycho or PT. It wont crash without thoses options, RT shadows are FINE and SAFE!

I also recently installed Phantom Liberty for the first time and immediately began experiencing crashes. I had this mod in my mind and decided to disable it. So far the game is much more stable and I am not noticing any problems with textures loading. I run 370 mods currently.

Leaving this disabled until it is updated.

Yeah uninstalling this (I'm using MO2) has fixed my crashes-while-driving.

I do feel for the mod author because, as he says, it's quite possible that it's not this mod specifically but some interaction with something else, especially for those of us who are running upwards of a few hundred mods (just out of interest, using MO2 I can run over 1,200 mods without problems 90% of the time, and if problems do crop up I can usually trace them easily enough by bisection - and ofc a lot of the mods are just cosmetic/vehicle, so I can knock them out of the equation in a bunch and that strips down to a few hundred more "meaningful" mods).

(OTOH, I've seen a fair few people claiming they stripped everything down to core mods and this mod and still get crashes - but even that could still be some obscure interaction between core mods and this mod, and not this mod's fault.)

It could also be that some changes since this mod was first created have made it redundant or prone to causing crashes anyway, either itself or in synergy with other mods - without knowing exactly what CDPR have done, it's impossible to say.

Anyway, I'll be keeping this out of my load order now unless I notice anything looking awful in my cosmetic/vehicle mods, in which case I think have to make a decision, or perhaps dig deeper and see if a deeper culprit can be found.

This is the first time I'll be making a comment regarding a mod, and yes, I'm a heavy modder (usually run games with mods than without them), but I wanted to point out, if for whatever reason, anyone finds out V's neck (I've tested it with Fem V only, not sure if the same goes for Male V), specifically her collarbone, has a transparent gap, and her neck's stretching out weirdly while in a vehicle ONLY (I've tested it during any other circunstances with Photo Mode and can confirm, it only happens while she's in a vehicle), it's probably caused by this mod or by any other incompatibility/conflict with this mod.

I also want to point out, this is NOT an accusation nor an attack, not even a complaint against the mod's creator, I've literally discovered this issue was related to MATO (Material and Texture Override) just a few minutes ago by a funny, yet coincidentally lucky guess: I took a photo of my Fem V riding Jackie's vehicle on March 1st and because I saved it, I noticed her collarbone was totally okay, her neck lenght was totally normal, and everything checked out, but just a few days later, on March 4th, I took another photo, Fem V also riding another bike, and found out she had that weird gap between her chest and her neck, just on her collarbone, and I casually noticed that just a few minutes back and had an idea: I could check which mod I installed between those two dates, and that's when I figured, MATO was the one causing said issue.

As I said before, not blaming mod's author/creator because this is probably a conflict with any other mod that mess with Fem V's textures and body shape/physics, but as I don't have a clean save/install of the game, I'm yet to test it out to see which mod interaction is the final culprit of this whole collarbone and neck stretching problem. I do hope this can help anyone out there, whenever said person faces the same problem I had for quite some time.

Woooo, I just finished re-reading ALL the Sticky posts, again, cuz yeah, we just had the Patch 2.13 drop a few days ago, and I just got around to updating my game and mods today...

    @NimRain
Dayum my dude! That post you made, date stamped [31 August 2024, 12:04PM], within the Spoiler  tag...FRICKIN' AMAZING READ! Very insightful information! Thank you for that! I also loved your rant, lol! All the other posts were also very interesting reads!  o7  ♥  :D  Just wanted to say...

Welp, as far as I can tell, this mod is still working as advertised, with the recent/new game Patch 2.13  update!  \o/    :)

At least for me it is. All my mods that list this one as a Requirement  are working fine. Have not experienced any problems relating to this mod whatsoever, since the release of this mod (however, my current gpu does not have RT, and from some of the comments posted, it seems that this mod may/or may not, play nice with some  RT setups?). Also, regardless if someone else says this mod is no longer needed...as long as I'm using any  mods that continue to get updates, and continue to list this as a Requirement, then I shall continue using this mod, until said mods decide to remove this mod from their Requirements lists.  :)  ♥

Again, THANK YOU NimRain for this mod, and its years of service, past and future to come! Still appreciatin' ya my choomba!!  :D

Yikes, those comments. I'm honestly so impressed by Nim's patience in their stickied comment. As always LisbethSAO, thank you for taking the time to check in on all these mods post update to leave your findings on them. You're an unsung hero here on Nexus. This post section is proof enough of how needed you are around here.
I seriously do not understand how so many commenters "just know" this one specific mod is the sole cause for any specific crash. And if you do have documented proof written by other modders or programmers proving its this mod and this mod alone you're a jerk for not sharing that info with everyone. But especially for not sharing it with the mod author.

I can attest this mod is extremely unlikely to be the only cause of "your" specific crash. I checked and last downloaded this mod when I did a full mod wipe on February 1st and have had it since. Only reason it has ever been removed was for mod wipes. Today, I am sitting here with 3,982 files in my mods folder alone adding up to a whopping 59GB. I haven't experienced a crash since a sudden issue I had with CTDs around the beginning of the summer. It was caused by some of my own prop luas in my AMM folder I poorly made when starting out as a modder. Before anyone replies they don't use props or AMM at all, that's not the point. The point is what caused my specific issue was some "obscure" file type buried deep in a folder most players very rarely visit and probably forget exists. The modders who make the mods you installed that required this download bringing you here had to have had this mod installed themselves to test theirs out. Plus the people who took preview pictures for them and every single one of the other people who have that mod. Head back to the mod details page and click on the box that links to mods requiring this one. Scroll to the very bottom of the list. Every single one of those modders has a vested interest in this mod functioning properly. If there was an undeniable, provable issue with the specific code in this specific mod causing every one of these reported crashes wouldn't you think there would be a team of modders working together to solve it? I'm trying to appeal to some logic here cause some of the comments I have read has led me to believe y'all simply must be uneducated on bug reporting, troubleshooting, and mod creation. I don't say that to be patronizing, it's perfectly okay. I have used mods in games for 15 years but never learned to make any myself until this Spring. What isn't okay is basically gaslighting a poor modder into believing there just has to be something wrong with their code because a game of telephone has convinced a good portion of a comments section into blaming just them for a crash that is 99.9% being caused by a dozen different mods or by the base game files itself. Or by Vortex yeeting files from other mods while sticking them in the wrong place. Or old as dirt clothing replacement mods. Or by old outdated .ini files. Or by Reshade issues. Or memory leaks causing VRAM issues... Simply saying nothing but "your mod crashed my game" is exactly the same as WALKING to a mechanic's shop, telling him your car is broken, immediately turning around, and then walking home. You need information to be able to diagnose a problem. Doctors don't use osmosis to treat a condition.

I expect self-entitlement to this degree ine The Sims 4 community. I spent more than enough time there. It always baffled and upset me seeing how modders were treated then but I would never say anything. They had a massive community scandal because of self-entitlement to a modders time and he was the victim of it. I simply refuse to see it here and leave without calling it out.
