Background: V was born and raised in one of the poorest hovels of Haiti. Her father was never around (some say that
he met the business end of a pistol) and her mother died of a drug overdose when she was little. For a time she was
shuffled between one distant relation after another, until her Grandmother found her amidst the piss and prostitutes;
and gave her a home, an education, and - finally - a future.

When the natural disasters came and ripped Haiti apart, V fled with her grandmother to Night City … and there they
found Pacifica. But her grandmother was old and feeble, already tired from years of working in the street markets,
when Haiti shattered into the sea … so it was no surprise when she passed away just a few short months later; leaving
V alone at 14. She had to look after herself then … and she was willing to do whatever it took in order to survive.

Fortunately, her technological prowess (a gift from her education) soon replaced the more controversial aspects of
her employment choices, and brought her to the attention of the notorious Netrunner crew; the Voodoo Boys. But it
was not to last. An up and comer in the ranks, Placide, was secretly threatened by Brigitte’s newest protégé. He
couldn’t risk having V outshine him. And so - during a routine sweep of the Internet - Placide spiked V’s SID chip
in an attempt to murder her while connected to cyberspace.

Thankfully, V was smarter and faster than an inexperienced Placide, and managed to breach through his ICE and strike
first. The resulting attack did free her moments before the hack had reached its full strength, but not before she
had fried the synapsis of 3 other VB members and laid Placide out in what would be several weeks of a coma. With no
one to vouch for her, and the evidence looking particularly shady, V was alone … and now an outsider.

So that night, long after dark, and with her few meager belongings packed tight in a duffle bag, V abandoned Pacifica
and traveled as far as she could with the last of her eddies … ending up sometime later on the door step of the El
Coyote. With Mama Wells’ penchant for saving strays, V was soon able to find a warm bed and supplies, but there was
no rags to riches story for a refugee like her. She was still being actively hunted by the VB, even in hiding, and
there was the constant threat of death over her head.

When it finally became unbearable, Veronica moved once more … to Atlanta.

RP Scenario:
V has returned “home” after a 2 year stay in Atlanta. She’s changed up her look, kicked up her abilities, and chromed
herself out since those junior days back in Pacifica (you may use this as the reasoning behind why Placide and Brigitte’s
don’t recognize you during the story line). She’s now back in Night City and wants to prove to all those bastards that
she is the undisputed, best Netrunner in town. Mamma Wells has helped set you up with a room at the Coyote, but its
only temporary … which is where Veronica’s story stops, and your story begins.
