I've updated the mod with a new file (version 5.1). With this updated version, all fixes from previous versions included. But I have made a workaround for Toggleable Walking and while not the optimal solution, it is the only one possible at this time. I also remapped rotate right in Character Creation from "E" to "F" to fix a conflict. In game it shows rotate is "E" still, but it is "F". Additionally I also lowered the rotate speed, as I felt it was too fast.
All keybinds after latest version installed (6.2) Interact / Select - "E" Walk / Drive Slowly - "V" Dodge- "Left Ctrl" Dialogue Scroll - "Mouse Wheel Up/Down" Journal- "9" Toggle Walk / Drive Workaround- "YGHJ" Additional Dialogue Selection Option (Version 6.0 only) - "LMB" "ALT TO HOLSTER" UPDATE I have discovered what was causing "ALT To Holster" to not work for some people. Turns out, it worked when you only had 2 weapons equipped. As soon as you equipped a 3rd weapon, "ALT To Holster" would stop working. Even if you unequipped the 3rd weapon and went back to only 2 weapons equipped. This is something that appears to be unfixable as far as I can tell. So I have removed the version with "ALT To Holster" from the Main Files section, and made the version with it disabled the main version.
I missed this during all my testing as I only had 2 weapons equipped during all testing. But now that the cause has been found, hopefully a fix can be found in the future, but as of now it doesn't seem fixable.
UPDATE 6.2 - Walking speed with "YGHJ" slightly increased. Making keeping up with NPC"s easier.
UPDATE 6.1 Removed "LMB" to Dialogue Confirmation. It appears that "DialogConfirm" is linked to confirming time skip selection, as well as "confirm" in menus. Eg. When in the Character Creation and trying to skip time. It's not a huge issue, So I decided to release this fix as a separate version. If you're happy to deal with that conflict, use version 6.0.
UPDATE 6.0 - "Toggleable" Slow Driving has been added. Mapped keys for slow driving are "YGHJ", the same as walking.
UPDATE 5.2 - LMB can now be used to make dialogue selections.
ALTERNATE UPDATE 5.2 - Disabled "ALT To Holster" and re-enabled "Double Tap To Holster" due to some people having issues with it working, despite troubleshooting.
Toggleable Walking Toggle walking is as far as I can tell, impossible at this stage. However I have made a workaround. While some people may not like this, at this time this is the only way of having "Toggleable" walking currently.
- I have mapped "YGHJ" for walking, due to this, your journal has had to be remapped to "9" as that is an unused key from what I can see.
- "WASD" is regular movement still, and you can still hold "V" to walk if you would like, this has just been made for those that are used to toggleable walking. So use "YGHJ" to walk, then switch to "WASD" when you need to move at regular pace. One benefit of this workaround, is because "V" makes you walk by walking forward really slow. With "YGHJ" you can now walk left and right without walking slightly diagonally.
- Again, this is not perfect, but it is the only workaround possible at this point in time.
DISCLAIMER I have been informed that using the mouse wheel for dialogue selection has always been a feature. However it never worked for me, so I assumed that it was a design choice by CDPR. So it was likely a bug I was experiencing, but this has fixed it for me. I'll leave it there as it may be useful if anyone else is experiencing this. And it won't affect you negatively if you're not experiencing this bug.
REMINDER! Before installing these new files. 1. Remap calling your car to "B" 2. Remap holding crouch to "CAPS LOCK" 3. Remap exiting vehicles to "E"
Known Issues 1. F Not E To Exit Vehicle: [FIX] You have exiting vehicles binded to "F" in the in-game keybind menu. Rebind it to "E".
2. Run When Walking and Holding Forward and Sideways: This appears to be unfixable at this stage, as CDPR probably never intended for you to be able to walk with M&KB.
EDIT Due to some people experiencing issues with "ALT To Holster" even after troubleshooting. I have uploaded an alternate version of version 5.2 with "ALT To Holster" Disabled, and reverted back to the default "Double Tap To Holster". Apologies for the inconvenience.
TO ANYONE HAVING ISSUES WITH "ALT TO HOLSTER" What version of the game are you using?
Steam or GOG?
I have the steam version and am having no issues whatsoever.
I doubt it, but I suppose it may be possible that if you're all on the GOG version that may be why it's not working. I say that as other than that, I would have no idea what could be causing the issue. As that would literally be the only difference between our copies of the game that I can think of, provided you haven't remapped "ALT" to something else.
Hey Asusanan! Just wanted to thank you for making the mod and helping me! BUT here is what i'm looking at: https://imgur.com/a/5cD0Hlw and even with that change it doesn't work for me, im not sure where to go from here
Yeah I have no idea why it's not working for you. Like I said to J0ystick, that is the only change I made to enable "ALT to Holster" and it works for me.
I'll do some more checking but to be honest that has me completely stumped.
Don't worry i don't want you to be up all night trying to fix this i appreciate the other QOL fixes you did as well Honestly! Keep up the good work and thank you so much for this mod!
Yeah this is really weird, I have no idea why it's not working for you guys as everything seems to be as it should be. I'll be uploading an alternate version of version 5.2 with "ALT To Holster disabled" so you guys can all still holster by double tapping "ALT" like default.
Ok that's good to hear, no need for you to change version. But a few people told me that double tap didn't work for them with version 5.2. So the alternate version is up for those who had that issue.
Just looking for some feedback regarding the "Toggle Walk" workaround by using "YGHJ"
Nice in theory, especially since can simply switch the key layout of my Razer Tartarus Pro with the press of a button. But while holding "V" actually moves the character forward in walking speed, "YGHJ" moves in the exact same speed as "WASD". Is this just me?
It's because the speed is kinda high in the config imo but it's possible to change it. Also YGHJ is pretty much the only way to make a toggleable walk imo
Yeah, just went through inputUserMappings.xml and changed everything from (-)0.68 to (-)0.4, works perfect for me now. Only thing left to fix in regards to walking is movement speed when moving diagonally. But I suspect that's a bit more complicated.
Dude just stop apologizing, what you do rn is just incredible and if people complains (in a negative way I mean) then they go f*ck themselves. Thank you a lot and keep up the good work !
@hth218 Yeah, I set the movement speed for "YGHJ" to 0.68 because when I was testing. Setting it to 0.4 like how "V" is set to 0.4 made you move a TON slower then what you did when using "V" to walk. In my testing I found that 0.68 for "YGHJ" gave the same movement speed as "V" to walk.
Sweet jesus, thanks mate! My 43yo fingers thank you indeed. EDIT: the journal entry edit wasn't in the standalone, I found it, but you may want to update for others. Thanks.
- As of December 21, I will be going away for Christmas and New Years and won't be home until January 13. So there will not be any updates during that time.
- I also want to say that while I will still update once I am home, I have to admit I'm only just barely past the point where you meet Johnny (Keanu Reeves). But I am already starting to feel bored of CP2077. It's a problem that I've been experiencing for sometime now where I just have not been able to finish games due to burning out and getting bored of them really quickly. I don't know why I am experiencing this, but just know that while I will continue to update the mod, updates may not come out as quickly as they have up until this point.
Dude you're not alone the only game i have ever been able to finish was GTAV. I play games straight then get bored as well. Anyway enjoy the time off with the family.
Hey man! Really appreciate the work you've put into this mod (even though I haven't even used it - but I can tell). In regards to burning out with games, I'm the exact same way - even with CP2077 at first. However, I've been sticking with it, and now I'm excited to pick it up and play it every evening after work. Here are a few suggestions for you: - Most people are gonna hate me for this, but try to focus on the game, rather than this mod. I've done a little modding myself (trying to fix things I found annoying in other games), and I always found that modding takes my energy and excitement away from the game and towards focusing on the problems and frustrations - which would burn out anyone. - Play it how you wanna play it. Don't focus on the negatives people are talking about. Try to find the things that you enjoy and focus on those (storytelling, immersion, characters, genitals, ...). - If you have the rig to support it, scale the graphics up to ultra and walk around some of the markets. The level of detail is astonishing. - When you start up the game, just select some of the side missions (if they are at or below moderate difficulty), and walk/drive there (rather than using fast travel). The immersion in this game just by moving from point A to point B is astonishing. Additionally, a lot of the characters are starting to become a lot more interesting as the story progresses. And some of the side missions are a lot more interesting than they seem on the surface (the Delamain quest line is weird) - similar to what made The Witcher 3 great. - This isn't a race. This game took 7/8 years to make. Take it at your own pace. What else are you gonna do, get frustrated at another game? ;)
Just FYI - I'm not trying to get you to play the game the way I want you to - just telling you what has worked for me. I hope you will take it to heart and will figure out how to get enjoyment out of it for yourself. Take care!
Yes! I also have this problem now! and even if I reinstall it doesn't help cos the changes of these mods are saved in your saved game. You would have to start a new game! Dont use this trash
1. This mod and others that mess with XML files break your ability to draw weapons at some point. 2. They also break your ability to double jump or charge jump.
Dont use these mods. These "better handling" and "E to interact" mods that fiddle around with XML files eventually broke my game. Now I cant draw my weapon and the silent kill option no longer shows up!! These mods will break your game.
EDIT: Also breaks ability to double jump or charge jump AND its carried over in save file, even if you roll back the change or replace a back up ini
where can i change the default movement ESDF and the interact key To W please can you respond to me ASAP contact me on discord if need be copy this to find me

I got the 6.2 version and I'm unable to Sprint. When I installed the game I switched Sprint(Hold) With Sprint(Toggle), and now that I got the mod I can't sprint at all. Everyone in their right mind uses Sprint(Hold), only noobs use the toggle one. I really like this mod and it works great, but I don't wanna trade it for my Sprint ability...
Would it be possible to add a "hold 'reload' key to holster weapon" function? Yes I've played much FO3/NV/4/76 and miss that convenience, though given how odd CDPR's choices in setup are, I can live with how it currently works it it can't be done/is too much hassle.
Either way, thanks for the work you've done so far. Your mod is awesome and you should feel awesome for sharing it with us.

Can you check if your .xml file is correct? To check do the following.
1. "inputContexts.xml" Open with Notepad++
2. Line 950 or ALT+F and search "holster"
3. "Count" should be changed from "2" to "1".
That's it, as "ALT" is the default key to holster. With that change it works perfectly for me.

Heh, this is really wierd. :)
Just looking for some feedback regarding the "Toggle Walk" workaround by using "YGHJ"
I know it's not perfect, but it is the only possible workaround right now from what I can see.
Sorry again for the amount of updates and alternate versions I've had to release. I never expected my first mod on Nexus to blowup like it has.
Thank you a lot and keep up the good work !
