DECEMBER 2021 UPDATE: Hey everyone. I know it has been a long time coming. But I just want to put this out there now. The mod is currently unsupported as you could probably already tell. There are a few reasons for this such as:
- I haven't played the game since the last update of this mod on 15 December 2020. I have had absolutely no interest in the game and I don't know if I ever will have interest in it again.
- I am serving in the Australian army and have been so busy this past year due to covid and other defence commitments, that to be honest I have not had a lot of free time.
Now that is not to say I may not ever have a desire to play and update the mod in the future. But as it currently stands, I don't have the desire, and have no plans to.
If you read through the comments, there are people who have found and posted fixes for some of the current issues from the mod being outdated. So if you're wanting to use the mod, check the comments for those fixes.
I am sorry for any disappointment felt by anyone. But I felt like I at least owed an explanation.

For anyone having problems backing out from computers and such, I figured out they changed something in the new inputContexts file. You can continue to use this mod and others like it, just have to edit a few lines.
Super useful, but also got a strang thing with it. There was like 2 more with 'UI_Cancel' so I added the exit button to them all, and now C and Backspace works fine with exiting a computer, but Escape doesn't, which is weird.
Yeah escape doesnt work for me but I dont have it set, maybe try adding it as a key in the inputUserMappings just replace the backspace one with <button id="IK_Escape" />
When I used the default files from the new update 1.3 there was no escape key bound, perhaps they changed it.
If you already tried adding the escape key and it doesnt work, then I have no idea haha

wow glad that worked for you, unfortunatley for me i already encountered this twice with this mod and didnt see this comment till reinstalling twice!!!! i was really pissed too, im just staying away from this mod glad to see there was a easy fix hidden here in comments i looked everywhere, but right here lol.
Thanks for this post! I also found more than 2 ui_cancel lines in the inputContexts file and added the exit line under each of them. Computers work as then should now.
Hi , I was searching a way to stop annoying s*** thing which is holding F to enter car or get out , I want to press button not hold it is it possible to edit this ? thanks
Is your Escape key also broken when trying to exit computers? I've reset the key bindings, reset to the vanilla mappings file, but it's still stuck to the computer ui and no Escape from computers is working at all. Always have to Alt+F4 out of the game.
having exact same issues, hopefully get fix for it soon, because my playthrough is currently paused because of this. very grateful for the mod, its great, but this breaks my game. lol
It seems CDPR changed some stuff in the xml files with the 1.3 patch, so using any of these breaks key mapping as of now. For me it totally broke the escape key when interfacing with consoles. Couldn't exit out of them at all and had to force quit the game. Reverting to the updated vanilla xml files fixed all key mapping problems for me.

wish modders would just added these fixes for 3.1 and update their mods to do so so we dont have to, technically their mods are broken and brekaing games not cool to make plpl keep reinstalling lol.

Hey all, need some help. I installed this but was having issues with it, so i installed the vanilla xml files thinking it would reset my bindings and essentially delete the mod. The modded bindings disappeared but now a bunch of my bindings are missing and i cant bind them. Help!! i definitely uninstalled this wrong but couldnt find how to do so correctly and now i cant right click to track objectives and so on, and resetting in the key binding settings doesnt restore them.
edit: i did the correct 3 binding before installing, if that helps diagnose the issue.
edit 2: just deleted the two files and verified game files, all fixed.
My only issue is that any time i get on a computer in-game, it doesnt let me exit the computer. So next to where it says "exit" on the bottom right, it has no key. As a result, i literally have to restart the game. Cause pressing ESC won't do anything.
I'm not sure whether it's because of 1.3 or an earlier patch, but it seems that the interact key can now be rebound without a mod from the ingame settings.
I've seen that as well, it came with the patch, but it seems like there's two options for the interact key: one for "free roam" and one for like consoles and menus. However, in my case, you can only rebind the free roam one to E. The one for menus and hacks can't be rebound at all for some reason and stays the vanilla F, no matter what.

Open inputContexts and find the line:

There should be two of these!!
Paste this line below both of them:
<action name="UI_Exit" map="Exit_Button" priority="-1" />
Then go into inputUserMappings and find the lines below:

<button id="IK_Escape" />

</mapping>
Paste these lines after that:
