That it does. But sometimes overdoing it can look fake. This is why they remove or lower rim light to make the character more realistic, especially if they are in environment that doesn't have motivation for rim light.
Rim light is great in photography because they want to create more interesting images than real life. But games do the opposite. Games want to make you look as real life as possible.
But I thought that if the rim effect were more... soft&subtle and less white, would it make the characters in game more... I don't know... more 3D and more having a sense of depth and volume, make it feel really-be-there? Like what RT does?
For days, I've been trying to find out which mod was causing hair colors to be shiny as fck and npc eyebrows to be thick as if drawn by a sharpie and causes brows to be shiny from afar. Finally found this mod to be the culprit as all the problems mentioned above instantly disappeared the moment I uninstalled this mod.
The problem now is that it's a constant back and forth of having to remove this from the archive/mod folder and putting it back on again to make my saves work. This mod has caused my saves to become really janky as hell. One moment, reloading saves works without this mod, and on the next reload, I get a CTD without a flatline message. Reinstalling the mod, fixed the problem but I'm back to having shiny af hairs and sharpie brows.
i had this mod downloaded a while ago, but now that I checked I don't have it anymore yet the hair on character is insanely shinny as well as eyes. At this point I don't know what else to try.
Doesn't work properly with 2.1 update, at least not with Path Tracing (Overdrive). Hair looks weird (too dark, missing lighting detail), and no real effect on characters skin or clothes. Like someone already stated, sometimes it even looks like it makes rim lighting slightly stronger on characters (inverse effect).
Hair looks weird (too dark) - its true. But mod also remove hardly noticeable rim lighting on clothing. - I prefer normal hair. Can ignore rim lighting.
"Rim-light" is an effect that is mostly used in photography, but also subtly occurs in nature. It would be nice if you could make a version that disables(Or is only subtle) it in the game, but not(Vanilla) in photo mode.

Also tweaked Hair and Skin some more.
Skin was a bit to shiny and hair should glow less in low light but still have more shine than default.
Definitely recommend updating, change should be much more obvious.

Does this mod require a manual install?
Vortex "fails to install" it.
Going to try going without this mod and see what I notice.
Cyberpunk 2077 2.1 - Vanilla vs. Alternative Character Lighting Mod
TL;DR:
Needs update for 2.1 (Overdrive mode).
